@@GearHead704 why someone would want a 5.0 in a near perfectly balanced car ill never know. that 2.3 has same HP & torque as 5.0 with much less weight. handled similiar to the vette

In the mid 80s speedometers in the USA could only go to 85mph. The SVO mustang's speedo's stopped at 85,but 85mph was a little past the middle of the speedo,the speedometer continued counting to 140 but without numbers,just the hash marks were on it. Those speedo's are very rare now!

Nice car , was Mopar man for 40 years got cancer couldn't afford them any more, my son give me 1986 5.0 5 speed, t tops , power windows, it now has 99000 on it all original , but this car is very fast for a stock 5.0 can't afford to build it, but have gotten some good offers for it , but son give and dad will keep it. You got a u tube channel.

The 86 is my favorite 4 eye foxbody! I would never get rid of that care either, especially with your story behind it. I really think all these cars need is a good exhaust on them and a set of gears and they are just a blast even the rest being stock. Thanks for checking out the channel.

@@GearHead704 I had an 86 SVO. Still miss it today. Had ported everything ranger roller cam, bigger turbo, full exhaust 4.10s in the 8.8 rear i bought for it and a big intercooler, and more things I can't remember. It wasn't the best drag car but from a roll at 18 PSI it could get away from my friend's (new at the time) LS1 Camaro. Oh and it weighted 2990 LBS :)

If you get me a shirt, I'll wear it! :-) Props to Terry and Seth for their hard work on something that people can easily dismiss. As much as I like to modify, the SVO is staying as stock as possible! Ohhh and that check engine light!! (on your daily, not the SVO) :-)

🤣you noticed the light! I went to VW for a recall and the unplugged a sensor, had to take it back, what a hassle. I figured you'd like this upload. Yeah a stock SVO is great too and probably holds it's value better.

I sold a mint 85 black gt 4 years ago and regret every minute. I used the money to build my older son a Jeep when he turned 16. My boys dreams are more important than my own right now.

Good luck keeping it running. Constant issue of some sort. Finally got it stablized but it took a good 6 months.

If you're driving in the city, the lack of low end torque means you have to drive it fairly aggressively just to keep up with modern vehicles. I have a stock 84, but it's not my daily driver.

Damm these things were cool in there day . I would love hook up with one to add to my collection. They really love to run well over 100 , I believe about 135 mph . Which was pretty fast back then .

E brake is correct as it is required by law and to work/hold on State Vehicle Inspection and hence called "Emergency Brake". Park saves strain on trans parking on a grade. I use on grade at long red lights so brake bulbs stay cool for old plastic tail L 🕯️

Great video Nice ride I have an 86 SVO going to be restored soon Debating if to leave the 4 turbo or put in coyote motor or 1970 cobra 429. Got both motors. Any suggestions. Been told the 429 would be a better build. It’s just so big to fit in that space. Thank you for video.

I’ve owned my 84 for 2 years now and my suggestion is to keep it a 2.3L turbo car. They are a ton of fun and plenty of power for the small car. Your car, your money, however you will catch a ton of flack from the enthusiast if you change the motor. There were less than 10k of these cars ever built from 84 to 86. There are a few svo specific pages on Facebook, check them out. There is a wealth of knowledge on there.

So I just picked up a built svo, 3 inch exhaust, and it's LOUD even with the muffler that's on it. Whaylt do you recommend that will quiet the car down without losing performance?

I put this engine in my 91 Miata, and I am thinking of buying a HY-35, but I have been told it is to big because I have a stock head. I have a 60mm throtle body on a fabricated upper intake, 80lb injectors, cast manfold with wastegate provision, microsquirt, and a frontmount intercooler. Does this SVO still have low end power?

Nathen Perri with holsets it’s more about top end power. The cars pulls very hard above 2500 rpm. I am running a stock head but plan on either porting or buying a boport head and cam. I wouldn’t say it doesn’t have any low end but the car would be more fun on the street with a turbo optimized to build lower faster boost.

@@mrautomotif8996 thanks for the info man! I might still pick up a HY-35 even though I have a 4:30 gear ratio for now. As far as I know, a lower gear ratio further delays full boost as well. But, until then, I have the stock Airflow research turbo on it.

It's definitely an E Brake 😂. Nobody used them when they were on the floor. I don't even use them in a manual. Reverse or first unless it is super steep.

What the hell was it with purple in the 80s and 90s in these cars?? My brother has an 85 vert that was silver and repainted purple. And I have a silver 86 that had it’s front bumper replaced and it was painted purple! Why purple?? Lol... nice SVO 👍
