Great video, thank you. I've learnt so much about painting and decorating and my work has massively improved thanks to you and your brother. All the best, thank you Gents.
I get so engrossed in these process videos. They're really compelling. I found myself very disappointed when you went from dry PVA to filled and primed. You mentioned use of foam and poly filler in 5mil bead (instead of caulk), but you skipped HOW you polyed that gap. I'll assume you foamed, trimmed and pressed it in a bit. Then, somehow laid a bead of mixed poly. Did you somehow squirt the poly like a caulk gun would? Or did you putty knife it in thinly and smooth with your finger, like caulk? I would love to see that missing process!! It's the KEY to the entire beautiful job. Thanks!! You're awesome!
Thank you! Another decorator who understands caulk is a cheap easy fix. It’s not for decorating it’s for toshing. Don’t get me wrong it has its uses but it’s over used. I like clean sharp corners around wood fixtures, coving etc only achievable with filler.. not to mention no trouble with crazing 🙄…👏👏 love the channel keep posting 👍👍
Hi mate quick question, I used to use macphearsons emulsion and macphearsons oil based under coat for skirts if I got under coat on walls it wouldnt matter it all dried white but I switched to Leyland paints and I thought it would be the same but I’m left with lots of staining on walls where I’ve accidentally got the wall 😅 thanks
Who fitted that skirting board???? Bodgit and scarper??...sorry fellas no amount of Soudal foam can disguise that corner joint ....i do still wonder with the frequency of your foam use why you dont use a foam gun...
The guns are great for filling larger gaps with a large opening, but those plastic disposable tubes can be squeezed into tiny gaps - like behind these skirting boards!
@iambueno I find it waaay more cost effective to have a gun. The cans last for months on the gun if you tighten up the needle after use and if you want to use the tubes again, either cut them down so you have loads or just run some acetone through them.
I have a illbruk professional foam gun, and use the same foam, you can turn the pressure right down to give extreme precision. It also has needle nozzles although I rarely find I need them. There is a big difference between cheap and expensive foam guns.
Hang on, did you leave something out, as it doesn't all make sense. You PVA'd to seal in the dusty plaster for caulking, but ended up filling the gap with foam & Polyfilla. Also the line of the PVA was quite wide, into the area to be painted. Doesn't that reduce the bond between the wet paint and the sealed plaster, making it more likely the paint will flake off in that area? And the skirtings will expand & contract with changes in moisture level, so sealing the top gap with rigid Polyfilla, instead of flexible caulk, would seem to be asking for trouble.
Agree, I very rarely use caulk either, ilbruk expanding foam through a gun and toupret tx110 is my own preference. I only tend to use caulk for speed if I've missed a very small area.
