@@noelmedina6925 what r you smoking ? a transmission goes out, your in trouble, itll run you easily $3,000 USD not sure what that coverts to in pounds or euros but its a lot, and many vw's if not all, use a timing chain and if that goes out OMG, it can be very very expensive if both went out suddenly. im not bashing the car by any means i own a mk5 jetta 2.5 with 173k on it and she runs like a beast but only god knows how long that will be, but im ready to fix it if need be
even early 2000 models at that. I know because I know a good amount of people who own mk4s (as do I) that just sit in their driveways. I’m guilty as I blew my motor and have been slacking on saving for a new motor.
Love to see that the Mk2 is still alive in the hearts of some of us. I have a B6 Passat at the moment but plat on finding another MK2 or a Rally Golf witch is my dream car for as long as I can remember. I had a 16v GTI when I was 16 and I have been hooked ever since. Keep up the great work.
Steve, I know where you’re coming from, I have 13 Veedubs. It gets addictive. I have a Mk1 golf GTI, a Mk2 GTI 16v big bumper, 2 Mk1 Sciroccos including a Storm, a RallyeGolf in Tornado Red, 5 Scirocco Mk2s including 2 Storms, a wide body Rieger and Hornstein Cabrio, a Corrado VR6 Storm, 2 Mk1 Golf Cabrios - a GLi and Classicline and last but definitely not least a Mk4 R32. I also have the inevitable lock up full of spare parts as well.
Awesome collection, and a knowledgeable owner. Also nice to hear that he has plans for every car he had around. When you have enough space around your own home so you can store all those cars then you are a lucky guy 😅. Here in the Netherlands i also have a lot of vw's but have to pay also lots of money for storage 🤪
Had to part with my '86 TD Golf when I was having my first kid.. Its been almost 5 years now.. And I still miss that car. 4 door, straight pipe, ran like a top and never left me stranded.. Ive had a couple VW's since. And Curretly have a '14 JSW and a '06 Jetta TDI. Currently looking to find a MK2 Project to drop an ALH 1.9l In.
That Rallye Golf deserves to be kept in a garage. My Mk2 Jetta GLI 16V is never going anywhere. I luv that car, it's awesome, and I have yet to find a car that is more fun to drive even though I have driven and own much faster cars. There is something special about the feel of a MK2.
Love everything you’ve got there, love the Schrick intake manifold (I just put a set of Schrick cams in my 1.8 stroker build). Currently have 3 Mk4 Golfs but I am looking to add a Mk2 or3 to the collection.
Nice collection! I used to work for a golf breaker in Cambridgeshire uk called not escorts around 2013 in the 3 years we were running we stripped almost 2000 mk2 gti's all parts sold on ebay that's where alot went but back then they were worth much more money in boxes than as working car's
Awesome video! You are true die hard vw guy! I love love seeing all the great build around and the best thing on top of everything is: you truly race your car and enjoy them at the track! Something i really want to do is having a mk2 and race it as well. Very inspiring story and would love to meet you someday...Happy Holidays
Makes me miss my Corrado G60 which I bought when I was 18 back in '07. Sounded similar, even with the stock SC. Unfortunately at the time I didn't really know what I had, and every time I get into my Mk6 GTI, now.. I think of what could've been. I couldn't afford the maintenance, and had to get rid of it. I've got a kid on the way, and I'm definitely going to be building a garage around a mk2 era shell (jetta, gti, corrado, scirocco) so that he or she can grow up around the trial and error I did as a kid!
I do the same when I order European parts, since my wife came from Poland and we have great communication and visit sometimes. The best prices, even better than in the u.s.a., anyway that is one of the best collections I've seen.
My first car was a 1985 VW Golf 4 door; not nearly as cool as any of these sweet rides. I always wanted a GTI! Thanks for bringing me back to my younger days..
I met Steve at the cars and coffee event that he referred to in the video. I took a lot of pictures of his car that day. And no I’m not the one who made the power steering reference. 😁 My young son at the time carried a mk2 Hot Wheels car with him everywhere and was completely taken with Steve’s car. If you talk to him again let him know that my son just bought his first car. Yep... a mk2 golf. Never know how turning up at one event can affect someone’s life. Btw - Steve if you do see this and by chance remember that event, I’m the guy who has one of the few collections that would match yours.
Great segment. Have owned MK 1 thru 7 GTIs over the years (Jeepers, that certainly dates me). Looking to snatch an 8 GTI sometime next year. The tech is getting out of hand but the reviews love it. Bang for buck is why I love the cars!
Thank you Deutsche Auto Parts , for this experience i kind a feel my self into this man , i love how he is working on em and putting time and money so he can keep taking care of em , i m a car passionate and i feel him so much
MKIIs are the best! I owned a GLI for good two-time years, but couldn't find a Recaro seat replacement, mine was breaking my back, and sold it not knowing it was going to become the biggest regrets in my life :(
This guy is fantastic! Jees, he must be loaded! (Rich). I love the "check there's no snakes in there" line!! The only thing I didn't like was his accent, is that a mixed English/Maine accent?
My friend, you want old vw parts, especially golf parts. You gotta check Kosovo, they still keep them running over there, you could find good deals and good parta
So many fun cars, love all those old wheels that I wished I would have bought: schmidts, borbet type As, keskin kt1s. Will the 3.6 VR be going in any of those? :)
I've owned 3 mk1 golfs 2 sciroccos 3 mk2 GTI's 5 air cooled type 1. One Audi S4 b5 One Corrado 4 Passats b4 b5.5 b7 1 mk6 golf TDI and now my Arteon R line I hope I didn't forget anyone lol Oops 1 b5 Passat wagon and a mk3 GTI a mk4 GTI and a golf fronted Jetta TDI plus a 09 Jetta TDI
Can definitely feel you on the limited parts for mk1s and mk2s these days. My friend has been looking for a clean set of the MK2 Golf roof gutter trim for at least 5 years now with no luck. Hit me up if anyone out there has some they're looking to sell for good money.
