I think this has come up a couple of times, and it's a slight bit niche, so here goes. The summer olympics are on the years which are multiples of 4 (0 mod 4). The winter olympics, and the football word cups, are on years which are 2 more than multiples of 4 (2 mod 4). 88 is a multiple of 4 (4*22), and since 100 is a multiple of 4 (4*25), obviously 19 hundred and 88 is a multiple of 4. So there were summer olympics in 1988. 66 is not a multiple of 4 (4*16 + 2 = 66); it's 2 mod 4. So the winter Olympics (edit: wrong) and world cup were in 1966. I think this came up on a previous day.
