My wife is Korean, so we watch a lot of K-dramas, and what she says about this one is that although it's great to watch for foreigners, we miss half the stuff because the language is so brilliantly written. The wordplay is fantastic, and the speeches are lyrical. For example, sometimes when Goblin speaks, he does so in medieval Korean, so it's like someone suddenly breaking into Shakesperean English, but as non-Korean speakers, we can't get it. Anyway, glad I found your channel. Started watching Moving and Stranger Things too on here. Great stuff.

That's what the Grim Reaper was singing, angering the Goblin 😆 Also, in Korean goblin folklore, they carry a club that they can make gold appear with by saying a a phrase (something like "Gold appear, abracadabra!") - that's why in the flashback the nephew explained Goblin "making gold" whenever he was drunk 🥴

When I try to convince my friends to watch this show, I always say "I'll get you hooked after 2 eps!" & everyone always wants to see what happens next after that scene! 👍👍 You also commented about his clothes being fire - this show has some serious costuming esp for the goblin that started some serious fashion trends in Korea bc of the popularity of the show.

Hyung = what MEN call their biological older brother or some older man that they're close to Oppa = what WOMEN call their bio older brother or some older man that they're close to Noona = what MEN call their bio older sister or some older woman they're close to Unnie = what WOMEN call theur bio older sister or some older woman they're close to Dongsaeng = i think this is the general term someone uses to refer to their bio younger sibling or someone they consider their younger sibling Sunbae = Senior. School, work, career etc. Hoobae = Junior. Nim and Ssi = Formal. added to words to show respect. Ex: Euntak (informal) Euntak-ssi (formal = can be translated to Miss Euntak if i remember correctly) Sometimes couples call each other noona and oppa too. People also use those when referring to someone good-looking or their crush lol.

ok I know the age difference is super annoying and I understand you but so far she doesn't feel anything for him yet, she's just amazed because he's attractive and has money and she needs money to run away from home, She only tells him that she will be his bride because she knows that he can give her money and he has powers, so again she is dazzled, that's all. In the case of the Goblin, what he feels is more curiousity about her he has been looking for his bride and has never found her and has lived all these centuries in torture ,He doesn't believe she is is bride but he sees the coincidences between the two, and he continues to deny that she is because she doesn't see the sword yet, in reality the legend never says that they should get married, it only says that she is the only one who can draw the sword. In reality, he is not looking for his bride, what he is looking is that girl who is supposedly finally let him die. I'm not trying to tell you not to feel uncomfortable, obviously we should all feel that way, but one of the things that made this drama extremely popular is that it was very funny with moments of sadness (at least for me who cries every time I watch it) and when they do the time jump because SPOILERS they did it will becomes super romantic and sad.
34:02 Sunbae is just a way of addressing somebody in(or previously in) the same position but more experienced like a coworker or an upperclassmen in school. Hubae is the inverse somebody of less experience but in similar work or school.
