To help save your hands try some O'keeffe's Working Hands hand cream. Also get yourself a feed scoop to go with your bucket for spreading salt with to help prevent the direct contact with your hands. What is your plan for storing the salter come the spring? Perhaps think about building a frame to back under and hang it for the summer. That will keep it off the ground and give you a place to do this sort of thing in the future. Not to mention if you ever had to take it out of the bed for any reason during the season it would be quick and easy to do.

hey man, i dont know if someone already mentioned it, but you will be fine using those straps. 3,333lbs work limit l(each strap) x4 straps would put you around 13,000lb limit. your skid steer is only 5,000lbs you will definitely have adequate enough securement using those straps. also, if you are looking for binders, at my local tractor supply (in connecticut) the chain and load binders are over by the welders and air compressors.

Just to add a little salt to the mixture’s….the salt spreader in you truck looks like a 2 yd unit 650 lbs for unit 4400 lbs for salt…saw the video where you have unit well filled…looks like you had close to 5500 lbs of salt in unit….you had the salt unit secured with 4 3000 lb tie downs…..no issue.

We're on the right day thats a good start! Corn Huskers will take care of your hands. At the warehouse I worked at during the wintertime, we handled a ton of Chinese boxes which were half dust by the time they made it across the ocean. They would suck the life out of our hands. To get them back hydrated roll a couple of socks up, put a ton of Corn Huskers on your hands then have TQ ( SQ - sock queen? ) unroll the socks over your hands so your socks don't wipe off the lotion then go to bed. A couple nights and no more cracking or bleeding. Make sure to keep using the Corn Huskers throughout the day. Take care!

For tying down the bobcat … Instead of typical chain binders there are “speed binders” that can be tightened and loosened with a battery powered drill to save time and energy. You can see them on Dirt Perfect’s RU-vid channel.

Try routing the spreader wiring between the bumper and back edge of the box by drivers side taillight. It will move the wiring out of the way so u can get that mat situated to cover more of the bumper and get the wiring up so it don't get snagged on anything and break any of the harness. Great videos guys!!

Soon. Back to the tax stuff. A few years back I use to use quickbooks or quicken phone ap. Witch might help with say keeping track of milage, scanning receipts if u need to, you can also link It to you bank account to help w tax prep, then at the end of the year for tax time it give u a year end totals of what you spent were, on fuel, mileage. Just an idea. Because I know it use to help me out quite well for business purposes. And yes I just got tired of having to change if it was for work or personal since it only took up about 10% of my time for business vs personal life

Spencer why didn’t you put the rubber Matt all the way under the whole salt spreader?? And then just leave enough hanging out far enough to cover the bumper??? I would want it all the way towards the front of the box for sure!! Plus it should also help the salt spreader from moving around so much hopefully!! I also use a lot of those rubber buckets and the different size pans they have!! I use them for the animals food and water bowls and then they can’t chew them up!!!

i have a huge draping rubber mat that is as wide as the bed and hangs about a foot off the ground when there is no weight in the bed. to make access for the wiring i simply cut out a hole. it look slike that boss sander, unlike the fisher polycaster i have, spits far less salt out on to the truck. either way there is no such thing is too much protection i think. always improving, i love it.

Please spend the time and money and buy a ser of pallet forks for your skidded. 42 inch would be good. Use a torch and burn a 1 inch hole on each fork. This will allow a multitude of uses, clevises, bolts, set a ball on to move a trailer, etc. And above all, it would be much safer. For tying down your skidder on a trailer, use 2 dot. rated chain and binders. Definitely stronger and more protection legally for your business in case of an accident. GET THOSE FORKS, you won't regret it. PS. the other day when you were carrying bags of salt, grab the skid with the loader and save your back!

Hey bud, what if you cut out a hole or slit into the mat so that you could have pulled the harness through maybe that would have work, allowing you to position the mat the long way covering more of the bumper...also, maybe using a u-clamp on the bottom of the top handle of bucket to make a ring will prevent the strap clamp from sliding up and down the handle.

As a former truck driver and I've hauled lots of equipment. The rule is if you're hauling a piece of equipment that weighs say 5000 lbs you are required to have 2500lb of securment. And me personally would use four straps or chains pretty much one for each corner those two inch straps you where looking at would be more than adequate. That's what I would use four of them

Savannah get yourself a spreadsheet accounting program so you can post the different expenses across the board income outgoing and going out and then you have the depreciation on your equipment you know it's basically I wasn't an accountant at my husband was and I work in it, so far that's a story in itself but a good accounting software and it shouldn't cost you $400 a month if you do all the you know the the footing. have an account to do all that and hand it over to the accountan and then they figure out the amortization schedules and everything else so good luck I know how hard it is to work with your husband I did it for 16 years. But we were best friends the whole time so that's what really counted.

Hey! Loved the video as always. Your trick with the bucket is good but might hurt your neck in the long run. You could use a brush cutter harness instead, the wiehgt would be dispatched on both shoulders and the small plastic protection for your leg where you attach the bucket might also help. Obviously it costs a little extra but for your body it might a huge difference. I guess you could consider that purchase for next winter season if you don't find a replacement to your broken manual spreader in the meantime :) Keep going, I look forward everyday to your videos !

I hate to tell you but you put the rubber in the wrong place . First the rubber should have been warmed up to try and get it to lay flat and not roll back up . Anyway it should have been attached to the back of the spreader to shield the truck . Now it will be difficult to clean the truck not just from the salt you apply , but from what ever you pick up while driving . Even if the spreader rusts out and falls apart it is a lot cheaper to replace than the truck . Salt is terrible it will attack everything if stuff parked next to it in the yard .

I fed my harness up in between the bumper and the truck and wire ties it up out of the way, then it's not hanging down and it's kinda protected by the mat as well. I also just lay a 6x8 tarp down in the bed of the truck too before the sander goes in, cheap and easy until I can build a flap attached to sander with angle iron and rubber mat...ford did a horrible job with the chrome on those bumpers, best to protect as much of the bumper as possible

you want your tie down at least 4x the weight of the machine so 20k lbs. for that skid steer. some guy is selling a shoulder strap attached to a bucket just for spreading salt. I purchased a couple of p clamps and bolted them to a square 3 gallon bucket and it works vunderbar for spreading salt. two attachment points holds the bucket almost level. not sure about your state, but down here you cannot consciously cover up the license tag. you could mount to the top flat area of the spreader provided the tarp doesn't cover it. the tag must be visible 200 ft behind the vehicle.
