It was Clive. That's who he really is. He wants everything popp-y and upbeat. He held Whitney back from who she really could have been and made her bubble gum pop. She was a gospel and soul singer, but he wouldn't have it. Whitney was scared to argue; Kelly wasn't!

Supposedly the night she performed this at the Grammys she got a call from her doctor saying she had cancer and that’s why she was so emotional during her wins and performance but she didn’t make it about herself, but turns out that the doctor switched the results on accident.

I just subscribed to your channel and was thrilled to see many of your covers, especially Kelly! She's my contemporary vocal crush and I just love everything she does. But I was surprised that there's not one cover of the woman Kelly herself idolizes, a woman who even shares the same birthday (albeit 40 years apart)... the GOAT, the incomparable Barbra Streisand. If you're unfamiliar with her other than Mrs. Focker, you're in for a rare surprise. You talked about liking when an artist uses their voice as an instrument... well Barbra is the queen of that, and even has an album titled, "Barbra Streisand... And Other Musical Instruments". Let me start you off with one example...Barbra's was the first rock version (3rd and imo the best iteration) of "A Star Is Born"; she won an Oscar for the theme song "Evergreen," ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-udLeOOy6em4.html) as Lady Gaga would do 36 years later for "Shallow". Please do a reaction to "Evergreen". And perhaps her most iconic, the theme from movie of the same name, "The Way We Were" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jT0IXTXAnmo.html But don't stop there, her catalogue of more than 60 albums is massive and eclectic, ranging from Broadway to Disco (gotta hear the duet with Donna Summer then hear it 40 years later with Ariana Grande), to Pop, to ballads etc. Three of her albums are duets with some of the greatest ever. I hope you will dip your toe into Barbra's pool of successful hits... she's the only artist to debut an album at #1 in six consecutive decades too! You are correct. It is her with her 6 year old self, watching her father basically ignore her. You were absolutely correct in your assumption. She basically had a sucky childhood, with her father abandoning her and her mother totally shutting down, yet she turned out to be one of the greatest vocalists in history. Wow!

i play on the safe side, so i don`t get hurt..... thats me.... my father left when i was 3 years old. he promised to visit me over and over again, but he never showed up. and i always hoped he would come and i was waiting for him..... i feel ashamed because my life is empty..... yeah, i can relate to that...... i served in the military, and it is easier for me to kill someone, than to say: "i love you." which is just sad and i know it, but i can`t help myself.

I have loved Kelly since her Idol audition!!! She writes from life. And she is so genuine & humble. Her voice is everything!!! The sort of follow-up & closure to this song/scar, is her song Piece by Piece. When I watch you process this video and what it's saying, it reminds me of the reaction Jennifer Lopez had when Kelly sang "Piece by Piece" on American Idol. You both have that kind of shell-shocked look when you realize that someone with this immense amount of talent had, pretty much a shitty childhood; father walked out and mother shut down. Yet she has moved beyond and is a take-no-prisoners powerhouse and so seemingly well adjusted, beautiful person.

You need to check out "Piece By Piece" it is a sad song but also an uplifting one. Makes me think of my life almost feel like it was made for me. My bio father moved to another state when I was 10 years old. Then my mom mom met my step-dad and he picked me up and became the "dad" that I needed.

We associate the term "Because of you" with something positive. Because of you, I got a better job, because of you I started working out. She took that concept and turned it completely upside down. Because of you, I am totally fucked. I think it shocked a lot of people...including you! It's totally unexpected, but as an artist, completely brilliant.

I'm usually more inclined to listen to metal but this song hits a note with me. I was beaten by my dad when I was a kid. It does seriously f**k you up. I vowered never to lift a hand to a child. I'd rather die a million times before I do. The way you treat a child shapes them into the adult they become. My teenage was riddled with depression a suicide attempt. Do do this to your fucking child for god sake!

The song is about her not repeating what her mother did and stay in a bad relationship as you can see in the beginning she is the one walking away from her husband. The video goes on showing how her mother suffered but refused to leave and her seeing what it did to her mother and so she refused to be like her but by seeing her past she thought about her child and instead changed to pattern and refused to let history to repeat itself.
