Saying this as someone that likes BGS the best… They should grade EVERY card honestly. That is very unfair if a card is deserving of a higher grade, or if a card deserved a lower grade… Really sad to hear they give 9.5’s to csrds that may deserve 10’s, or 10’s when they should be graded lower. Really messed up they choose grades that need to meet what they want, not for the sake if the card deserves that grade. Grade HONESTLY. Don’t make it a numbers game BGS!…Be REAL! Hearing they eat where they grade cards is crazy. It should totally be very enforced at any company (and if it’s not, the graders really should care), to not eat anywhere near the grading areas. Hands should also be washed throughly before going back to grading… come on how do you grade peoples cards with dirty hands, so messed up
Grading centering on pokemon cards should be the absolute easiest and most consistent part to Grading. I don't get it man. Grading companies are such a joke
I used to grade textbooks for Amazon. There was a specific hourly rate we had to hit and there were definitely some of my coworkers who would spend about 5 seconds on a textbook. Keep in mind we were supposed to spend about a minute per book, but the incentive was to go as fast as possible to meet your rate. Some people took this to the extreme, and management looked the other way because on paper, our department looked very efficient.
All the times ppl told me how crazy i sound for saying that these graders could know whose cards they're grading and they might be keeping the amount of 10s they give out on the low. I feel something akin to vindication now, from when i said that card grading is a scam.
You can't make this sh@t up. I really am beginning to hate grading more and more. I do it for the money yes but as for my personal cards I stopped grading them a while back
What not, PSA, BGS, scalpers. Gotta love collecting cards. I used to think PSA was bad at pop control with expensive cards and then I submitted to bgs and really learned what pop control was. I submitted 20 one piece cards to bgs (very good print quality) I got 19 9.5s and 1 10 (no not a black label) lol. At least with psa they just give 10s out for everything.
It's very surprising that the whole black label thing didn't raise any red flags in their casing process...like no one was like, really? another black label card wow, hmm this is weird... I don't feel like employees who go to work at these companies do it for the money...obviously, they do it cause they enjoy the hobby...so why would they not care about putting out a good product? blows my mind.

Explains alot with my 2019-2021 returned cards if it was just one guy grading pokemon. After the upside down card in my last submission with them, I swore off submitting to Beckett.
i mean at the end of the day, grading is just one thing that can be helpful in authenticating cards and assessing values. This is all across the art world as well- theres subjective nature to it. telling someone they should just be happy with what they have and not get something authenticated, slabbed/protected, is like telling another person why cant they be happy with a potential fake art piece, why cant they be happy with a print, why cant they be happy with a replica.
Unpopular opinion. Since Rattle hates grading but knows more than the graders i say he opens his own grading company. So many people would get behind this idea.

Sooo if your surprised by this folks you are very naive. Think about it, people are Authenticating cards that know far less than you the collector. Does that makes sense to you?? I will say it again raw cards will be worth more than graded cards.
I’m not surprised at all!!! I’ve been trying to get a black label Charizard SV49 and failed. I’ve sent out 5 with nearly perfect everything and best I’ve had is pristine 10. Then I go on eBay and there’s multiple black label SV49 with worse centering than my cards. SMH.
Maybe this is a clear sign that grading will be heading to a more of a AI base. If that does happen which i believe some where they are doing that. The AI will destroy the grade of a BGS black label to a BGS 9. So many "10's" will be lower.
In all honesty I could grade a card in under 2 minutes. Against a scale you check centering first which I can do with a tool in about 15-20 seconds to line it up. Then maybe 5-10 seconds per corner and edge. Yes you would hope they would spend more time but it’s not even a stretch to say you can grade a card in under 2 minutes if you do it all day.
AI grading (TAG) has scans and will contact to you if you crack their slab and resubmit. Each card is like a snowflake based on their scans. I highly recommend scanning a QR code on a TAG slab and see the difference in grading standards.
Lol your scenario where people get special treatment then you stop yourself mid-way and say that might not be happening accurately then you go back on it and say that shouldn't even be a scenario that comes up. The only thing grading is good for is to prove authenticity of the card & you also get a cool plastic holder. Anybody with a brain can determine whether there card is mint or not.
