The Innistrad and gangster/mafia thing was from a survey a year ago when WOTC straight up asked “how would you feel about a return to innistrad? How would you feel about a Wild West set?” Those aren’t inside secrets they’re just optimistic guesses related to the survey from a year ago.

I think the crossover stuff will probably be like the Godzilla cards. They just switch over the drawing to a different version.

MaRo has made it pretty clear that in his mind, in the long run, the only people who should buy draft boosters are people planning to play limited. The Set Booster is intended to be the go-to Booster product for Constructed players and other players who are buying cards for their collection to play with. Draft boosters aren't super fun for these players to open, because after you've wrecked your first booster box, you're really only looking to see what your rare/mythic is and if you got a foil. "Project Booster Fun" was the first attempt to improve this, by adding Showcase cards randomly, so now you might get a common or uncommon Showcase, making a pack more fun to fan through, though not increasing the value. Anyway, given that, I don't anticipate Wizards investing too much in making Draft Boosters better for non-Draft play. Actually keeping the Masterpieces out of them is beneficial for the limited environment, and it also means in the future that Wizards can even more aggressively tune Draft boosters specifically for limited play, since they no longer need to appeal to anybody else.

Rudy I reserved the Mafia style set that's coming out in 5 years. The seller who I purchased it from has 0 feedback, meaning they have 0 negative feedback. They told me the lottery card is going to actually be a lottery scratch off ticket. I wanted to outdo all of the other timmys who are purchasing the zendikar boxes now.

This whole time the boxes were real, it was Rudy that was the hologram.

4:31 More cards like the Godzilla ones. Using the Avengers as an example, there wouldn't literally be an Ironman/Thor/Cap/etc. that existed in the magic multiverse, but normal magic cards that would have alternate art versions featuring the Avengers in the art.

What’s the average market price for the VIP booster packs?

here's how I'd do a Mafia themed set. The Mafia and 1920's gangsters in general were all about item smuggling and causing organized crime riots. You could have a Moonshiner type theme with creatures that come into play and after a few turns, they "run away" only to resurface again after they've evaded the cops You could also do an item smuggling type gimmick where certain cards are like Arms Dealers that when they enter the battlefield they buff all the other creatures in your hand. There was also tons of moles and rats in the mob, so you could have a super powerful creature like a 1 mana 3/3 but your opponent can pay mana to destroy it or have it do something bad to you, like make you discard 2 cards or lose 5 life or the likes. I'm extremely excited to see if a 1920's gangster themed set shows up in MTG, that will be a blast! :D

That Mafia idea sounds like that one episode of Star Trek where they end up on the Mafia planet where Kirk gets all into character and Spock is all about studying the civilization. So kind of Jace or Tamiyo as Spock and Garruk or Chandra are like Kirk. Calling it now Holiday Gift set is $600 all foil of 1 of all 10 fetches, available in LGS and retailers world wide.

Pretty sure the holiday set is going to be the already announced commander legends, which comes with some commander precons in addition to being a draftable commander set.

Expedition lottery style in the standard product. Better pull rates and "the list" cards in the set boosters and Fetchlands in the collector packs...sounds like a solid plan to peel as much money out of every flaming and fatigued wallet possible. Especially around that early Christmas present season.

I would expect they would put the lottery style lands only in the collector boosters, because that would be the flashy add on, and do maybe like a box topper or something for the set booster boxes, to hype the new style (and probably more expensive) box. That's what I would do at least.

Those license/franchise crossover things are probably mostly going to start out as sets like that "Ponies: The Galloping" that somehow actually wasn't an April Fools' Day gag Hasbro has a *ton* of merch licenses, and they're looking for a way to cross-sell. The closest thing I can think of for the crossover idea with Marvel/DC type products would be something similar to the Ponies: The Galloping set they did for the Seattle Children's Hospital. Their new trend seems to be small curated overly expensive products so it's not the craziest thing I've heard.

I think the movie video game tie in isn't all that surprising a possibility since Ikoria with Godzilla was a thing.

Think on this: 6 colors (including colorless) and 6 Infinity Gems.. Colorless = Mind White = Soul Black = Power Green = Time Blue = Space Red = Reality I could see a new "set" based on that.

Rudy. As far as crossovers with other fantasy pop culture goes, I think that the Godzilla cards were a dry run. They didn't make actual cards called Mothra, etc., they printed VARIANTS of other cards with alternate art. I think that absolutely could be done with, say, Game of Thrones. Imagine a secret lair drop that had 5 cards, legendary creatures who needed a reprint, but with GoT character themes. It's innovative, but builds on what they've done before, and would absolutely sell like hotcakes.

Mafia style would be cool; Speakeasy Land or Bootleg smuggler (Creature Goblin), Ogre Mobster (Creature Ogre), Magical Brewer (Human Mage). Smugglers Crate (Artifact). I can see it work. Return of bribery counters, old cards such as bribery and stuff. Various gangs with their own little mechanic.

I mean other companies manage to have multiple universes quite well. So I could totally see a Magic: The 1900s, running alongside Magic: The Gathering. I mean they already have the : ready. It worked for Warhammer: Fantasy Battles, Warhammer: 40,000, and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. Plus who wouldn’t like to see how some of the existing planes, handles technological, and societal advances, without having to mess up the current stories. It sort of worked with the Kharns and Dragons switch.
