tires bfgoodrich front 225/65r17 rear 255/65r17 wheels us-wheel mat black rat rod front 17x8 stock offset rear 17x9 custom offset smack in the middle front fit good. Rear check your offset due to the rear end you use the 255 have about ~3/4 inch on each side clearance. Mine don't rub. Also I use my final gear ratio to set my tire height, as to why I use a 65 tire. This way with my 6l80e and 373 gears in the rear end the tire size of 65 gave me a low rpm at 70 mph that I wanted. find a final gear ratio calculator put in your numbers and tire size and see where your RPM will be, adjust of needed.
one other thing if you have the ridetech coil over I have the front 2 clicks less then the back so the back are softer. They have a write up on where to start, I think if I remember right I am a few more clicks from the starting point so I think I am 14 in from and 16 in back. Still adjusting the ride I might go two more clicks softer on each. www.ridetech.com/tech/shock-tuning-quick-guide/
@@oldmanfixingstuff3722 I have a 69 camoro rear-end with 373s & Wilwood disc. I'm going conventional sbc with th350 or 2004r. I have to calculate rpm with that tire height @ 31.0 " . Did you align the front yourself? What specs did it end up for camber, caster etc.
@Earth 2 Steven I did a static alignment before taking it to the shop to have it done by machine. Caster power rack 4-6 degrees positive Manual rack 2-4 degrees positive Camber 0 degrees Toe-in 1/32 to 1/16 inch Lower control arms should be level to the ground. Got this from the install manual. Also, the 1/2 20 set screws in the eccentric housing, you have to really tighten them down, or it will move. Check them after the shop does the alignment. Check it after you drive. If not tight braking makes it move forward and it will start to pull on the side that moves. Ask me how I know.
The inside fuse panel came with the truck, it's an aftermarket 21 circuit wiring harness. Could be an old painless wiring harness with key in dash. The engine harness was stock LS and I rewired it.
Do you have the part numbers for the steering column, steering and shifting components? I have a 1955 GMC which I've owned since I was 14, yes its my first vehicle. I am now 58 so I have had it for 44years. I have been watching your videos for some time and you are a true inspiration, please keep them coming. I have a 383 Stroker which dyno'ed at 505hsp and a 700R4 going in my PU and am getting the parts together to do a frame off restoration.
I used a jegs column from jegs.com. I think it was a 32 inch. I also used double D steering linkage cut to size. You will also need a steering u-joint to fit your steering box or rack. You can get all at jegs or Summitt. I mocked up my engine first to get sizes I needed with the ls3 it was tight but got all to fit without binging or hitting anything. I also used lokar trany 6l80e linkage kit to connect the trany.
is it unnecessary to swap the frame for these 55-59? I’ve read s10 frame, i’ve read it’s easier to take a 2ndGen Camaro front clip for the independent suspension. nothing is wrong with my frame besides it’s rusty. no rust thru spots. not sure which way to play.
All matters on what you want and $$$ to spend. I'm not a fan of clips on a truck frame to me; that's 80s stuff. There are newer options today. Disc brakes, newer style handling, lower stance, power brakes, power steering, etc. It's a longer discussion one; you might stop by and we can talk about it.
@@oldmanfixingstuff3722 Thanks for the response Old Man! Id love to stop by and chat it up with you. i’m about 9 miles out of Sunnyvale, not far at all. Sure could pick your brain. Just let me know
Been busy just got a breather, if ya still want to stop by and talk shop send me you contact to cgnemer2 @ gmail.com no spaces ill send you mine. trying to keep web scrapers from sending junk emails to that account. Dont use it much and dont check it much.
Short of buying a complete TCI frame, the way he did it is gonna give you a really nice ride. The Mustang II Ackerman geometry is way better than gm clip.
Hey. Love the truck. I have a 57 Chevy Truck. Just got an 430hp LS3 crate motor. How do u like yours as far as power? Does it push that truck pretty good? Always wondering if I shoulda went with more power. Does the rear tires hook up? Thanks!
I went with a stage one cam 498hp pushes the truck good the stock ls3 will also push the truck great. With the stock people won't know what you have until you step on it. mine you can tell it's got power you can hear the cam. I was going for a sleeper but the cam is giving it away. I don't think you will be disappointed with your ls3. And in The future if you decide you need more power swap out the cam these things make crazy power with a cam swap.
@@oldmanfixingstuff3722 Thank you sir. I really appreciate it! I got the connect and cruise package with the t56 magnum 6 speed manual and 3.89 rear so it will be fun. But yeah can always change things. Especially after the 2 year warranty runs out lol. I have the same TCI suspension also. Any problem getting the tires to stick with almost 500 hp or do u have to baby it a little. And what mufflers u running if any? I subscribed to ur channel so hope to see more on the truck. Thanks!
@Derek Holland remember size of your tires will make a difference also. I'm running 6l80e with 3.73 in the rear. I went with 30" tires to keep the gearing close to the 2012 camaro ss the motor and trany came out of. So size of the tires can also help with the overall grearing and hookup. I used an online gearing tool to tell me what size tires I needed to keep my rpm at 70 where I wanted it. I matched it as close to the camaro ss rpm at 70.
