True. Trick is to show signs of life and occupation but make it seem ordinary. Not some kind of prepper sanctuary. So start by not telling your family and friends what you do. Being a prepper is a solitary lonely endeavor. You gotta wear many hats. Gotta be a cook, a medic, a builder, a hunter, etc.

I dug a Hand pump well in my basement. Sent out and tested I hit a spring under my house and I can drink straight out of that well. Test say no problem to drink that water. Cool 45 degrees water

Make your own composting toilet. 5 gal bucket, heavy duty trash bag, sawdust. If you want to get fancy, take a plastic lawn chair and cut a hole in the center, then put a toilet seat on top of that.

Back in the day, when outhouses didn't have the blue chemical water, people would sprinkle barn lime in the pit after each use. Kept the odor at bay and cut bacterial spread. You can buy it in 50 lb bags at your local farm supply store.

I keep a stack of plywood in the garage to board up windows and/or doors when the time comes. You won't be able to get it after SHTF!

I keep a large supply of "powders", sour cream, milk, butter, cheeses, etc. So, on each Saturday, I make up my Barter Bags (around 10), and at least 40 meals in a jar. Breakfast, lunch, & dinner. One jar per 2 adults. My hubs will often times process the wheat berries, grits, oatmeal, etc into mylar bags for me. I have a slight disability and can't actually tote those 50lb bags. Everything you've recommended is on our list as well. If PHTF tomorrow, we'd be set. From defense to fuel, to camouflage. We're so fortunate to live in a place where no one could possibly know that we prep because living is prep in itself here in the country.

Keep a full set of stinky unwashed clothes for when you go outside.....IF YOU NEED TO ONLY...... Just to be the Grey Man also dirty up your hands and face and use plastic bags or a Guitar case to put gear in or stuff that you find..... NOT A BACKPACK.....

If you can, several blue (water), plastic, five gallon jerry cans for toilet water. Try to get enough of this water set aside for at least two days if you have a stream or lake nearby that can be used to refill them [AT NIGHT]. if you don’t have this kind of water source have enough set aside for at least a week. Please remember that each one of these water-filled jerry cans is going to weigh about 40 pounds. Red = gasoline, Yellow = diesel, Blue = water Also, if you can even find them anymore, get yourself a camp toilet and several (preferably biodegradable) plastic bags.

I would hunker down in my basement. I can black out the window and the door window. I have an unfinished storage space behind another door where I could cook and smells would have to get out of two layers of walls. In my suburban environment there should be enough space and air movement to dissipate food smells. Plus, in a SHTF situation, the outdoor smells will mask the cooking odors. Outdoor smells like dead bodies, burning houses, garbage, human waste, etc. It’s gonna get smelly outside without water sanitation systems and trash pickup. And lots of houses are gonna burn from candles. My concern is hiding my solar panels and water catchment tarps. I may be able to hide my deck with black plastic sheeting and hide the solar panels behind those.

For easy DIY window blackouts: Find any tutorials on fabric window privacy film. Generally, you mix cornstarch and water to make a glue, which starts out white, and dries clear. You mix up the glue, apply it to the window, apply the black fabric to the glass, press and flatten with hands or squeegee, and once it’s dry, you can cut off any excess. However, you need to go outside at night and see if you can see any light or if you can see through the fabric, to be sure it works. Choose a lightweight, fairly densely woven fabric like broadcloth. Black is the one color that will keep light from being emitted from windows and black cloth will not show from the outside. You know how, during the day, windows naturally look dark. Don’t use white or light colored cloth, because it’ll look like you’ve glued sheets to your windows and the effect won’t look normal.

I think that location is important in the time of year as well. If an unexpected SHTF in the winter it will kill a lot more people up north. In the summer I’d say a lot of people in the south. Cities of course would be worst off in all areas but I think a lot of people don’t think how time is year will play… I live in the hot humid south and I have 3 months in the summer it will be absolute misery when SHTF. I’d rather things go bad fall-spring. But someone up north might rather it go bad spring-fall

@dbrennan1523 If Putin and Xi intend to start ww3, it will probably occur before the end of August. Putin's biggest mistake was to attack Ukraine in February, such a muddy mess. Putin needs about 2-3 months of favorable weather and dry fields. The window of opportunity closes in November because of the election. So we don't have long to wait.

A friend got a v big empty propane tank m put it by his garage he welded wheels on it and a trailer hitch and camouflaged it then cut the back off it welded hinges onto it and a big handle. Then welded shelves with room for him n his dog. He'd pull his loaded pickup truck with cap into the garage then he'd unload it using a hand truck and take it out the back door and onto the tank That area is fenced in with his dog. When shtf he'll hit j it to tank n take it to his cabin. He calls it his trojan horse

Those filled with his spirit know to flee to the wilderness relying on HIS spirit and guidance. Preps will get taken and people will be killed trying to defend them. If you are stationary you are a sitting duck and will eventually be overcome. Trust YAH, repent, keep his commandments and get filled with his spirit. What number would you accept? There is the famous rule of threes; three minutes without oxygen three days without water and three weeks without food. Then you have to think about all of the people who are medication dependent to live, as well as people who are frail and won’t be able to go out and get food for themselves.
