I cried like a baby when Celine sang this to Barry at the tribute for 3 of his brothers passing as well as for her husband and brother's deaths. Whenever I hear this song it stays in my head for days💖
They wrote this for Celine and no one sings it better, especially with them as back up singers. She sang this to Barry at a memorial service for his brothers and they both were crying.
Someone said that they were in the studio when this was written. The brothers had been working several hours on a song, and it just wasn’t happening, so they decided to stop for the day and come back the next to finish it. Then Barry said... if you have a few minutes, I have an idea for a song. They sat down and four minutes later it was done. He said Robin and Maurice seemed to have a sort of musical telepathy to hear what Barry had in his head. (Their mother said the same thing.) The Gibbs referred time such songs as “instant songs” that just sort of flowed out. Many of their hits were “instant songs.” This allowed them to go into the studio with very little material and write and record at the same session, where most writers book studio time after they have all of their songs ready. Their manager once said that Maurice could instantly arrange whatever Robin and Barry wrote, and often played multiple instruments on their songs. Thank you for reacting to it!!
@@SarahDengler Sarah can you please do a reaction video to Bee Gees song Night Fever as you have not done that one, here is the link to this amazing song ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SkypZuY6ZvA.html
"How angelic was that?" Off the scale Sarah. What a performance that was of Celine performing this Bee Gee song they wrote for her. Thanks for reacting to this. ❤
The Bee Gees first and foremost considered themselves song writers before being vocalist, they wrote many famous songs for famous artists, including Diana Ross , Barbara Streisand, Ceylon Dione and many others , Check out Barry from the Bee Gees singing the same song without Ceylon Dione singing, a solo version absolutely amazing too !
Few people unfortunately know just how far reaching the Brothers have been to the music industry not just their singing but yes their work as song writers and producers as well.
My aunty passed away 12 years ago and this was her favourite Bee Gees song. This video seeing you react brought me to tears with all the memories. Thank you.
Patty- Sarah, You should check out her singing this song to Barry in a 2017 performance dedicating it to his three brothers, her brother , and her husband. Its even more emotional than this performance was.
If you want to try something more recent from Barry Gibb, listen to End of the Rainbow off of his In The Now album. It was a song Barry wrote when his brother Robin was dying of cancer. It was written for Robin, and also Maurice and Andy, his three younger brothers he lost. It is a beautiful tribute and goodbye to the Brother’s Gibb. Here is a link to a video. It is taken at a concert Barry did, but it sounds like the person who put the video together overlaid the soundtrack from the album. Here is the link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BrkjaONJRcA.html. There are other versions on RU-vid if you want another video of the song. If you like this you should listen to the rest of the album as it is all Barry Gibb songs with some of his kids and his brothers kids playing and singing with Barry. If you are a fan of all of their music from the 60s, the 70s, the 80s and the 90s, you will see it brushed through this album.
You should also go back to their songs from the 60s if you really want to hear them singing harmony, songs like Massachusetts, New York Mining Disaster, I Started a Joke, Words are just a few. I grew up with the BeeGees and Andy Gibb and have been a fan my entire life. I was blessed to see them live when they toured in June 1979 (Spirits Having Flown Tour) in Austin, TX.
How did I never hear this before?! Loved it. The BeeGees wrote the songs for a Barbra Streisand album. Barry does a duet with her in Woman in Love, the BeeGees sing with her in Guilty also. And Celine Dion has a great duet with Barbara-Tell Him.
The Guilty project for Barbra Streisand was 1980, before Celine Dion was known. IMMORTALITY was written with her vocal ability in mind. They sang backup on the recording and appeared in the official video. I believe it’s the only one of their songs that she recorded. Barry has written and produced 2 albums for Streisand. Guilty and then Guilty Pleasures (also called Guilty Too) in 2005, also containing duets and backing vocals by Barry. Both are great!
What could be better than watching and listening to The amazing Bee Gees singing alongside the Canadian Diva, Celine Dion? Watching and listening to Sarah react to the performance, that's what! And speaking of Canadian artists, Sarah, I truly hope you can find time before the summer is out to watch just one video by the group called "Walk Off The Earth" because once you see just one you will never want to stop! You could try "Cheerleader" or "Hello" or "Somebody I Used To Know" or really any one you want, they are all great! Trust me, you need to get this group into your life!!
Your comments and emotions are so inspired. Thank you Sarah. I had a brother who went to live in Australia when he was 20. He came back to Banff Alberta (home - check it out) but said he was going to go back for sure. He passed at the age of 22 in a train accident. This song is for him. I went to Australia in 1974 and there I met a man from California. “Fulfill your Destiny.” We’ve been married for 44 years on December 30th. This song is perfect mix for me as well. I remember my brother Tom and I am grateful he gave me the impetus to pack up everything and move to Sydney. “Immortality” is THE song to remember those we’ve lost. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm so sorry for your loss. When the twins were late teens Robin Gibb was in a horrible train derailment. So many died. He was forever changed he said. What an incredible story. It was fate for you guys. We just never know. Bless you.
It’s our loss that the twins Maurice and Robin are no longer with us, but the unmistakable sound of the Bee Gees will make sure that their flawless music will remain with the world forever.
Sarah, may I suggest that you check out the Gaither Vocal Band for four part male harmoney. The one with Bill Gaither, Mark Lowry, Guy Penrod and David Phelps. It's a completely different style of music, but you will like it.
