What are you disappointed about with the Hero11?

A lot of people are disappointed in GoPro at the moment. While they were meeting consumer demand, they ended up making it so powerful, the gopros would overheat or battery was not so good. In the latest 12, they removed GPS to gain back some battery life. I sold my 10 when I realized battery life was not to my expectations. Plus, navigating their UI was pretty annoying. Between the DJI Action 4, Ace / Ace Pro and Go3S you've got 3 really cool options right now. It's all about what you want to do. Let me say this. If you combined the Ace Pro with the little insta360 Preview remote, you can see the footage from a distance on a separate screen. That can make a lot of stuff pretty fun. This Go3 / Go3S both have the remote view built in, though distance isn't massive, it lets you frame shots from angles and see what you're getting. To me that opens up some fun things to try out with shooting action and non-action narrative video too. Somebody put their Go3 in the dish washer while watching how it worked from inside using the outer cradle accessory. I mean things like that are pretty fun and allow you to know what you're getting in tight spots. What if you could put a camera inside a bird house and perhaps see what you were shooting live from a few feet away instead of hoping. Great stuff making the Insta360 stuff appealing. If DJI has it, fantastic.

The Go3s o Go3 is a great camera for the reasons that you aren’t limited by your GoPro, the hatclip works really well on the peak of a helmet and the magnetic mounting is both fast and effective, the chest mount accessory is very trick too but doesn’t come with the camera. I get very good quality footage riding my mtb with both, I prefer not having to lug a chest mount or wear it climbing and that’s why I love the hatclip. With the lower weight of the camera compared to others it’s stabilization gives very smooth footage and doesn’t bounce around as much as the GoPro. I would say this will not replace a top of the line action camera entirely and if you want all the bells and whistles go for the Insta360 Ace Pro or the new DJI for all the resolution, shooting modes and added bonuses of the larger sensors. But for a simple, fun and adaptable camera this is a great option, completely replaced my GoPro8 black

No not just as good, although I think it’s good enough, there are 3 different levels. But personally I don’t obsess too much over stabilisation. I think that action footage can be overstabilised

I've been waiting and wanting for many years as bigger cameras SLOWLY creep towards 4K 240FPS and based on that and major companies still dealing with heat and battery life at 4K anything, I've concluded that it's still gonna be a slow process until some major tech leap occurs. The compromises have been everpresent. for example, would you really want to wait a year with expectations of a 4k 60 and then finally get it, and your battery life tanks to 11 minutes? Or that the camera now overheats and shuts down a lot more? That could EASILY be the case. Companies desperate for consumer dollars will flaunt those specs but the major tradeoffs are hidden from the consumer. GoPro reputation is quite bad now because of this exact thing. "We must have 4K 60". Smaller companies will advertise it too, and cell phones did the megapixel game forever, a lot of upscaling trickery and baloney. It's not mentioned but the card reader accessory seems to work with the Go3. At least I think I just read that on the site. If the little battery can handle a true 40 or so minutes of usage, that's more uptime than my GoPro 10 was getting that I recently sold. I think for portability action camera travel, there's a benefit to working with say 1080 and 2.7K footage as the laptop or the phone can be smaller and less powerful, and cheaper and you can edit and apply effects with less power and less render time.

Officially its actually 38mins. I put a correction on screen. I find its plenty if you just use it for quick social media videos. So I might shoot 20x 15sec clips in a day which is only 5mins of battery time required. if you use it for vlogging it won't last as long

about 28-32 minutes of 4K footage without the action pod. It can be increased to about 38 minutes at 2.7K and even further with things like Timelapse's, interval shooting etc.

I liked my Go2 but previewing the footage and having an actual screen proved to be a major factor in moving up to the Go3. Got the Go3S too because I simply like this form factor. 4K wasn't the major thing, but better slowmo and some of the other shooting features are quite nice. I was thinking of getting a DJI action 4 but decided to get the Go3S as my secondary with my Go3. The ace pro is in my bag too but now I'm not sure how much I'll even use it. yikes.

Have had a Go3 for three months and it’s been worth every penny. Blows my old GoPro out of the water

It's actually good news. If I have go3 I can have now 11mm and 16mm equiv if I buy just the camera module addon. But new hat mount is also much better with the magnets.

go 3s has better colour profile

It’s unique using on its own without the viewfinder. No other similar sized camera with decent quality video like this

@@stevestechemporium I think gopro should take some extra time off release schedule and perfect some new accessory tech, portability features. The 12 is plenty good for what it is and I think GoPro needs to breathe some new life into their main product to compete and they must come out guns blazing with battery, heat resolved. Or they could focus on software like AI upscaling and then they don't have to keep running the resolution race. 4K 240FPS is kind of the Apex for action slowmo. 5.7 to 8K is kind of ridiculous when it's more comfortable to just watch on phones. If i were gopro I'd buy the company that makes that follow drone the Hover X1 and try to build upon that with simplicity and software. That's a killer product.
