Sometimes when you’re out fishing occasionally something pretty special happens, well on this day it happened twice. Catching a red emperor in the harbour was pretty cool, but then to catch a barra only a handful of casts later in the same spot blew me away. And then to top it off a flatty which I didn’t even hook 😅😂
Fingers crossed for some better weather soon hey!!

If I didn’t see it I would t have believed it, a Red and a Baz out of the same hole, and the way you caught that Flatty that had a head like a burnt thong! That’s off it’s head! Great stuff as always Mick, still shaking my head that you pulled that off! 🙏👍😂

Thanks mate! Yeah it was a shock when I saw what it was… I’ve been fishing that wall for almost 30 years and haven’t seen one landed there!

Barra and a Red. That's brilliant - didn't even need to motor out wide or up the estuary! I am a big fan of the Beer Bandit colour!! Works well in the dirty water down my way for Mulloway. I love my Focal (PE4). Looking for a PE2 for plastics and vibes - ever used a Cloud 9 (I'll get a PE2)?

Yeah beer bandit is one of my faves! I’ve got the pe 2 cloud 9, it’s mint but I do prefer the extra length and the tip of the pe2 focal over it for the vibes and heavier plastics.

If you're someone starting out but want a few decent rods what would you recommend to add the arsenal? I'm probably looking to drop a few grand at Tackle World too!! Cheers bro

Yeah landbased can be a grind hey! What size boat and what type of fishing will depict what rods you need.. as you can tell I run a fair range offshore but almost exclusively Dobyns in the creeks..

@Micksgonefishing thanks for the reply. I'd love to go offshore & to the islands. However, being a novice, I think I'll be chasing a tinny to begin with & just fish Pioneer, creeks & Kinchant Dam. Hoping to get a nice barra rod & all-rounder rod. I'll check out Dobyns ✌️
