BEHOLD my new purchase! A 2008 Lexus ISF. 5.0L V8, 8 speed auto, RWD. What more could a man want. Follow me on Instagram @kiwicarlife.yt / kiwicarlife.yt Thanks for Watching!
I'm Surprised by your choice - but in a good way. IS-F is good taste. Will be interesting to see what you do with this. The IS250/350 are starting to get pretty popular and I'm curious if they can be made into even more of a weapon.
The is350 can be made good but a weapon like this IS-F, I very much doubt, it’s this year and last year we started seeing the v8 coming back, the is500, same engine specs w the is-f
ISF, great new car. Even so over a year ago when you reviewed it, I knew that this would be the car that would replace the Accord. Looking forward to the content ahead.
I wish I bought these when I was still living in NZ. I test drove one, was really impressed but held back in buying it. Now I moved to Melbourne, and cars here are really expensive, especially the rego. I guess that's the benefit of being able to import cars from Japan even though the commercial market has the same model - keeping car buying costs down. Now I'm in a major FOMO.
Congratulations, and the golf intro was super funny! I'm on my 2nd Honda Accord (my previous one I had for 13 years), latest one being a 2.4 2006 Auto with ALL the toys (yes, Lane Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control). I'm 59 and not quite ready for a Lexus ;) (I've always wanted a Subaru, so if I ever leave Honda, not very likely, I'd like to take a look at a Subaru first, then Lexus 2nd :) ).
I have had and owned Honda accords for 18 years, a UK CH1, CL9 and currently CL7 euro R and was delighted when I came across your channel, gutted you sold your Accord but fuck me I certainly approve of the Lexus. Well done mate what an awesome motor!!!
Loved your review! After owning C63 AMGs for many years, I got one of the latest ISFs from BringATrailer. I love it, fantastic car, comfortable, smooth, feels tailored for the experience. It does feel a bit quiet stock though, looking into exhaust options and doesn't seem like there's a lot available in current times. Thanks for your feedback on this car!
Bro I’ve seen is2/350s around a lot now. I ended up looking in to them and finding these Isf versions. Ever since it’s been rare just seeing one. And when I do I turn my music down and tell whoever’s in the car “just watch that beast take off”😂
Love ur channel my man, has become a routine to binge ur old videos whenever i feel like chilling with some snacks. Do u miss driving manual? Never expected u would get an automatic 😁
Thanks man! Glad you're enjoying the videos and tbh nah I am happy as with the auto in the isf. Besides I now have the euro r to get my manual fix if I need it haha
@@KiwiCarLife mint man! How did i forget about the Euro R hahah, my aunty has one and its a blast when she lets me take it for a spin every now and then. Just a question on the K20a3 - i have base dc5 audm and wondering if its worth putting headers on it, like how it was on ur accord euro with the nice gains? Or is it not worth on the 160hp engine? Cheers!
@@vintagecottonon Yeah tbh not really worth it. I mean you can (if they even make headers for it) but the gains will be minimal. K24A3 responds very well to headers and a tune though
wow! what.a.choice. basically the only car I would exchange my accord in a heart beat. (ok, maybe a 3.5 V6 Accord as well) Too bad they only came with AT. Have fun, thats one hell of a car.
@KiwiCarLife Congratulations!! You have made an excellent choice! This ISF is SAVAGE! I once wanted an S2000 as well but for the price along with the lack of practicality just doesn't make since. We are looking forward to your new episodes!
Love my 08 Matador Red Mica. I've owned it (in the states) for 8 years and 105k miles both street and track (vids are on my channel). Extensively modded and bulletproof. Nice choice!
Wow, congratz, ever since i saw your review of the ISF, i kept thinking someday this guy is gonna pull the trigger and buy one. is that a NZ new one? So hard to find, even harder for facelift model
Picked up one myself too about a month ago (video on my channel). I was torn between getting a 100 Chaser or IS-F. I already own JZX110 Mark2 which is basically same car as Chaser. Naturally, my "car scene" friends trashed me for going with "golf playing old man's car". Little did they know.
i used to own an Accord...from 2018 - 2020...the car that replaced that was the 2006 Mark X 300G..with 250bhp plus...i never looked back at the Accord ever since...even though i've moved on from the Mark X which has similar DNA as these Lexus's, i never forgot what an amazing car it was
Cheers man, I actually took the exhaust it had off coz it was too droney, and don't really feel like it needs the lsd (as you can see from the enormous skid I did haha)
They are a fair compromise between sport and luxury, the brother has one and my only gripe is that the interior has the same design language as a Hino truck; vertical plastic panels with buttons on them. Smooth smooth drivers though, completely different ball game to the Accord but as they say, sometimes change is as good as a holiday.
These must be very scarce in NZ. I have a Mercury Grey 2012 ISF and only rarely see another here in Canada. Just returned from a 6500km road trip thru the US, awesome highway car and fuel cons is actually quite good for a 5L V8.
@@KiwiCarLife me too, but i also get that with my 20 year old GS430 which has an older V8, way heavier and only has a 5 speed tranny. i get up to 16l/100km in my ISF when driven hard
I got 8.5L/100km if pure highway on my last road trip (1200kms in total) but whenever I step on the gas and hear that magical V8 it goes back to 10-11 . Track days always 30L 😂
Yip mate I'm with you for sure. I purchased a 2011 ISF and I love it as well. I is the best car I have owned. Only 55,000Ks it cost me in the low $50,000s plus thanks to the witch reg was $3200.00 anyway that does not matter a shit, I love it and will keep it until I croke, then maybe my wife will have a few bob!
As far as I know, a previous cl7 euro R owner sold it and jump right into an LS460. I would say ISF is a good choice, especially for someone likes JDM that much.
It takes proper dedication to daily something like this in NZ I bet. Respect. I want an IS F in the States. Nothing is going to tick all the boxes like this car does. I think my initial reaction is "man I want an AMG or an M car". But the reasonable side of me would say that this car is the one you can live with every day and not lose sleep over. If anyone is driving a legitimately used C63 or M3 as their only car, they've got their nuts in the wind if you ask me. Gotta own two cars with one of those. The IS F just needs tires, preventative maintenance, and fuel for the V8. And that is why I'd buy the car. A reliable, smooth V8 with a really nice cabin space. If you could pick one recent-ish American car under $100k usd to have for weekend laughs, what would you go with? Or which several would be on your list?
Thankfully I don't daily this - it's my weekend car as I get a company car too so in that regard the fuel bills don't bother me. And tbh I don't really like any american cars sorry
Good video and enjoyed it as always. A smaller thing you probably already know about but - it's really hard to hear your voice and mic audio whenever music is playing in any scenes :(
Hmm, must be certain speakers... I don't have any issues on my phone or computer at home. But I'll take that suggestion on board and try to improve for future videos :)
I 100% agree about your point regarding the C 63. I had similar feelings with my HSV Clubsport - fucking awesome but every corner (especially in the wet) was a death wish hahahaha. I recently opted for a newer Lexus GS350 instead. Still fairly quick, comfier than anything I've driven and heaps of space for the golf clubs... because I have to play golf now, right?
I own the Fuji speedway edition , ya it is a bit hard to get used to I think it puts out quite a bit more power than this isf that’s also why the c63 and other cars are harder to control, it’s a lot more power to the rear wheels, it’s just basic science. This isf does 0-60 in 4.5 seconds which is slow in terms of racing world. The rcf Fuji does it in 3.9 seconds which is still not the fastest but it is significantly different power. The isf is also a lot more balanced on weight I’m sure due to it being a 4 door sedan.
i saw this heading through Wellington, it was a late Thursday arvo. i saw the plate and thought to myself "surely not, it just looks like an up-modelled Altezza... someone else has managed to lay hands on the "kwcrlf" P plate before yourself".. but alas, i was wrong... so so wrong haha. You are 100% right on it looking so un-assuming and "proper" The kind of 'under the radar' fun I loved with my cl9 and no interest from the authorities.... looking forward to seeing more man
@@KiwiCarLife I was in at the hospital late arvo, thinking there's no way he's filming a congested Adelaide RD for the new car release video haha... had no idea that shape came out with a v8 In all honesty my attention to toyota / lexus is abysmal at best so its interesting to me
Good purchase mate, Have had mine for 10+ years and she still going strong, Most recently doing a FBO,along with suspension and some other goodies .... boy has it transformed her once again.
Great car. I have a black one with 225k km runs like a dream. Seems like Lexus stopped trying after they made this and the LFA. 15 years later and their is500 is slower than the isf was in 2008. Same happened with the is350, quality went down and so did the performance🙈
In fairness, you can't compare the ISF with the IS500. The 500 is not a true F product. And I don't know that it is slower... makes 60hp more for starters
