Oktober 2018.... a new knife was born. Inspired by DBK Benchmade made it their mission to design a knife that would make it into the DBK top 5 Knives. They wanted to do a modern take on a classic bushcrafting knife. So they went to the drawing board and designed a knife using modern materials like CPM-3V and Santropene. The result was the Benchmade 200 Puukko, designed to take on any challenge but foremost.. to let people enjoy using knives. Did they succeed? How can you ask for something like that Mora garberg is not even in the same league as Benchmade puukko!! Just compare the steels man!! Benchmade will take a big chunk of the Market from Mora with this knife

@@dandetande288 Who needs 3v? The sharpest (because best serviceable) knifes are not made from 3v steel... Remember: Every knife gets dull over time. 3v needs so much mainteance that you can sharpen 3 or 4 knifes in the time you need for one 3v knife. Also wonder why they reprofiled the original benchmade edge.

A pretty damn good price for a 3V knife from benchmade, too. Here in Aussie land its about the same price as a Fallkniven F1. Great video bros

Better steel than the F1 though. If they still made them I got a Fallkniven F1D in COS steel for the same price a year ago. The handle looks better on the Benchmade though.

Fallkniven made all their knives more expensive late last year. Not worth the money anymore. If I can find it in stock I'd consider buying this for my son, looks like a nice knife. Cheaper to import from the USA though, even with a shit exchange rate and postage it still comes out cheaper.

Chopping with a puny knife, I never understood why people even put that in their tests. Also, the spine not being mad sharp isn't necessarily a negative. These sharp mora spines can really dig into your thumb when you push on them to get more power and control. You can sharpen part of the back yourself.

Hey DBK here is an idea for a little kind if series you could do: First you take all (of course not the really shitty ones)your knifes, maybe also sharpen them a bit so they are a little more comparable with each other, and then youtest those knives in tests like: Which knive is the best feathersticker, edge retention (rope cutting),battoning and destruction (muscled Hammerguy/tip test/sticking the knife in this tree-thing(sorry I don't know the right english word) and stand on it. In the end you can put the knifes in an order, too see which one is the best. Sorry for the bad English I am German Please upvote this comment so they can see it.

Needs a finger choil or a guard. That knife looks like it's going to slice your fingers off if you try to penetrate something and lose grip.

So i love BM, great knives, but the 200 pukko in 3v is a bit of a miss...i have run mine thru the same teats as other 3v blades, like CS SRK 3v and the BM 200 is way softer. Like sharpen it twice per the CS once. IDK, maybe a bad heat treat but im a sad BM fan

On movie sets you can set camera angles where the guns are pointed in a safe direction and look like they are pointed directly at people. Alec Balwin's Murder of his Camera Lady is what happens when guns are not taken seriously enough. Being an American I own a number of firearms so I MUST take gun safety extremely seriously. If DBK ever makes it to Texas I'll let you try the real thing!

How is that a good price?? Once you factor in the cost of a sheath with actual retention you're looking at $160, and there are a lot of options out there for that. Bad sheath = fail.

Get a puukko from a finnish blacksmith, there are countless good ones. This knife is not even a puukko in my opinnion: a sheath with no wooden insert, sown from the wrong side, the blade isn't scandi enough (some puukkos do have a secondary bevel but not like this one) and last but not least the blade is not in line with the handle: it should start immedieately after the handle. Check nordiska knivar for some of the best finnish puukkoseppäs.

How could a knife that needs to be modified by someone with sharpening skills like Maarten, replace the "out of the box perfect" Mora Garberg as "best for money" ??? if it needs more testing to get into the DBK top 5 then surely it needs at least a "one vs. the other" test before it dethrones the Garberg .... right?

I honestly don't consider resharpening a knife as modification - it's just a part of its regular maintenance. And it's a common thing to change the factory sharpening angle for your personal tasks & preferences. I'll say even more: traditional Japanese single-beveled kitchen knives are very often sold completely unsharpened. I.e. they are COMPLETELY unusable out-of-the-box! And if you want somebody to sharpen it for you, knife shop staff can do it for additional $15-30, though it'll be quality hand-sharpening instead of a few quick passes on a belt sander (what you usually get on a factory-sharpened knife). But if major manufacturers had the option for selling unsharpened knives for even a $5 discount - hell yeah! I'll upvote this with both of my hands!

@@youtubevoice1050 Well... when you sharpen knife for a while (maintaining factory angle) you thicken the edge & it also influences its performance. Does sharpening count as slow modification of a knife? When you sharpen a knife by hand you inevitably put a bit of convexity on the edge. Does it count as modification? Also, you can change the angle for a Garberg if you need. For me it'll still be a Garberg, just resharpened. But I guess to each his own.
