Funny you mentioned the Ping river, I just saw last night how the Ping and Nan rivers merge to form the Chao Phraya river and into Bangkok, I forget but there were 2 others in north that also merge in with those two. Love seeing videos from these neighborhoods, I''m learning alot about the great CM mate.
True that is a great shop few knew about. I bought shocks & tires there for my Wave 125i years ago. Also just a bit further down that road is a Honda dealer that will install any parts from this place too.
I was worried in the beginning: over 1 min into the video and no trade-mark "Touchin' down..."! I was getting ready to revolt! /queue table flip/ 😅Cool to see that motor shop. Would eagerly soak up any and all videos you want to make about motor bikes. Looking forward to seeing your video of getting your wheels fitted on. By the way, behold my eyes! 21:14, is that a white Lambretta I'm seeing as you're crossing the street?! Wow! So pretty! Good callout on mpox, but from what I was reading, Thailand only has 1 or 2 cases of the dangerous strain of mpox, and from that they're stepping up screenings of all in-coming tourists, so I doubt it'll turn into something like those COVID lockdowns. They also contacted everyone from the plane that was in the vicinity of that tourist that had it, and screened them. Just gotta be mindful of what you're touching, don't touch your face, wash your hands thoroughly and often, etc etc. Don't think it was too smart or too safe for that guy to be touching that cable with bare hands! My eyes popped out when I saw that. Yowee! Thanks for another walk n' talk! Cheers! ❤🔥🕉🕊
haha, it would be very rare that I leave out "Touchin Down" . I might have more motorbike vlogs coming as I might be looking for a new one soon or adding parts to mine. Hopefully the MP stays away. Thanks man.
That Honda shop is great .They have every part you would need plus they also have a repair garage around by the side .Repairs are very cheep by Western standards .Book your bike in ,in the morning and collect it that evening .
Wayne your videos are medicinal. Don’t ever stop man. If people can’t go to Thailand, you are the next best thing. I’ll be there for my 8th visit in November in Chiang Mai. Hope I bump into you brother 🙏
For tyres, I always buy from Lazzada and get the local shop to fit them, Go for the best you can afford, it works out cheaper that way. The GPX drones look good but one thing to think about is getting spare parts, Chinese bikes tend to change models frequently and getting parts could prove to be a problem later on. Stick with the Japanese bikes and nearly all shops can fix them.
That’s what I’ve done mate, they are out for delivery right now, so I’m waiting. I couldn’t get the Michelin city grips, so I got another Michelin. Good point about the GPX Drone. I was assuming some. of the PCX or NMAX parts fitted the Drone. Very true about fixing the top brand bike’s everywhere also. My Click isn’t the best but I know someone will have a part I need if I’m stranded in the middle of nowhere. Cheers mate.
Nice vid mate,.. I've got continental twists on my two and four stroke vespas and (66) lambretta ,.. nice and grippy,.... definitely worth pushing the boat out when it comes to nice things for your scooter,.... Thanks for showing us around,... nice area,..🙂🛵💨💨
Nice one mate, I’ve not looked at Continental, so something to think about next time. I’ve got some Michelins now, ready to put on in the coming days. I’m expecting them to improve the ride a lot. I’ve had cheap Chinese tires on for the last few years. Yes mate, Lucille needed some upgrades. Thanks buddy.
Glad you went with the Michelins. When it comes to tires, you need to go with the best. That’s one item I don’t mind paying a little extra cash towards.
I was split between the Pirellis and Michelins but went with the Michelins, they get the best reviews online also. I’ve been running on a cheap Chinese tire brand for the last 3 years, so I’m expecting to feel a big difference with the Michelins. Thanks 🙏
A great walk about Wayne and I am glade you got what you needed I bought a sofa it was £1,600 in the shop my daughter found the same grey L shape sofa for £687 delivered and put together in 5 days delivery I actually see the sofa sat on it in shop then ordered on line we were lucky
Cheers mate! Yes, amazing what you can find online. This is a great shop and I buy things from here. If they had the tires I wanted, I would have probably purchased. Hope the sofa is doing well.
Always nice upgrading your ride mate. I enjoyed some nice meals with views of the river in the Wat Ket area, but walking was a nightmare. Cheers buddy👍
Yes mate, bout time she had some new parts, spending a couple hundred on her. Good View is a nice night out, I've not been for years but they still busy on weekends. Cheers mate.
Hello Brother, Is the Bier Stube cafe in Old Town still open? Used to be right on the moat/canal kinda opposite side from Tha Phae Gate. Been a while since I visited there, just curious. Thank you sir.
Thanks Wayne. Nice walk and a great area of CM. I spent a good deal of time around there when I was out of the old city. By the way The guys name is Lucas. Good guy and his friend Lan is an amazing woman who seems to be able to do anything and do it well. Nice people.
Always buy the best tyres IMO. They're the only thing between you and the ground. You don't want to spend the last 3 seconds of your life thinking "I should have got better tyres than these ones"!......
Yes mate, I told myself, I'm not going on another road trip on the same old tires, especially in rainy season. I've has a cheap Chinese make of tire on my bike for the last 3 years. I've ordered some Michelins. I can't wait, should be a much smoother and grippy ride.
I use that place all the time for tyres and parts. Pirelli’s are a better than Michelins but they wear quicker:-) I’m actually in the Honda service next door tomorrow for my service, certainly recommend them having used other Honda workshops in the past
Nice one! Yes the Pirellis don't last long, especially the sporty Diablo Rosso ones. Like you said, they are super grippy though. I've gone for the Michelins, all in all, they get loads better reviews for scooters. I've heard mixed things about the Honda place next door but I've never been to that one. Good to hear you recommend it, I might try it. Cheers.
Hey Wayne. Great vlog again man. Does that secret squirrel bike shop cater for the bigger bikes or just the scooters? I’m looking to get the NX500 when I get there
shoulda mentioned that you can buy all the stuff there walk next door to the honda dealership and they will put everything on, bit more expensive (not much) then a local bike place but 100% you won't get scammed.
Honda store is one of the worst I've been in Chiang Mai. I've not tried the one next door though. I've heard mixed reviews about it. I got my local guy who has a small shop that does all my work now.
@@WalkAboutWayne best accessory shop next to the worst repair place for hondas? hard to believe ey. i've been taking different bikes there for 20 years, always a really good turn around and quality work.
@@thailandreaction Being next door don't mean much though buddy ay, I’m sure Honda love people getting the parts next door too 🤣 I will take your word for it though mate, I might try it one day, 20 years is a good recommendation 👍I only had a bad experience with the one at Tha Phae. Cheers.
Hi Wayne I remember watching one of your Vlogs about how to obtain a UK passport in Chiang Mai, but I can't find it in your video history. Please can you send me a link so I can check it out? Many thanks, Jase
Hi Wayne, where do you recommend I buy a 2nd hand scooter in Chiang Mai? I know about Raumchok but not sure its worth it to buy from there or the original owner (carefully screened).
It's always a risk here buying secondhand. What I will do next time is either buy on Facebook Marketplace or buy new. I would prefer to buy from another farang, but I would take a Thai friend who knows about bikes. I purchased my bike blind, from a guy who couldn't speak any English. I wouldn't do that again, though. I have a feeling Lucille had some kilometers taken off the clock. If you know about bikes, it will be okay buying from most places
He buddy. How bout safety gear on your next trip? Gloves/Shoes/Jackets/Pants? You planning to use/buy that stuff? Pretty important imo going through the mountains with all the crazy minivans and farang-newbies. i was gonna ask you where i should go for the best gear (incl non-thai Helmet) for my November MHS loop. I'm looking for 1st class stuff, that i'm gonna sent to the family in law in Khon Kaen when i'm done with the loop. What dou you reckon? ChangMoto, do you know more places like that with original Revít, Alpine, Nolan, HJC etc....??? Got me a reservation for an ADV350 with budgetcather, time is limited during my holiday, so excited, but also a bit worried, don't like shopping for clothes that much, don't wanna spent too much time shopping, rather riding.
Hey mate, I don't wear proper riding gear but I wear big thick jeans, jacket and Motorcycle gloves. Yes, very important, I would like to have the proper gear. Some of the helmet places sell the gear mate. Number One Helmet shop down near Los Kroh road sell some of the gear at modest prices. It's hard to find the real top brands here but there's also a helmet shop on this same road that had some Shoei helmets before. Most of the helmet shops here sell some gear , so you'll defo find some, it might not be the top top brands though. ADV 350 will be great on the loop buddy.
@@stevemadden9329 I know mate, but i always travel with handluggage, and it could be a hassle getting my Helmet from Holland in the plane (dont want to put it in a suitcase anyways). I know its all a bit more expensive there. I'm shipping it (insured as its all new with recept) with Kerry to Khon Kaen (about Bht500) afterwards for future trips. Only hassle left is buying the damned stuff.
The Helmet is the only thing I’ve yet to buy in the coming days. I’ve decided to buy from the shop in Chiang Mai. Probably between REAL , BILMOLA or INDEX. Not the greatest of helmets but I think the BILMOLA and REAL pass the basic safety tests.
What’s the best part for condos near nimman, maya mall or maybe the three kings monument. I’ve been three times but am thinking of renting a condo and I know where I am there, but not sure about condo prices. ❤
All depends on you and what area you like. 3 Kings is inside the old city and closer to Loi Kroh road, walking street and night bazaar. Or Nimman near maya, the mountain and trendy coffee shops. Just depends what you like the most. Each area has rooms and condos for good prices.
