I worked as a medical assistant in a urology office and assisted in many a vasectomy. The men were more than happy to have the procedure done knowing how much more invasive and complicated it is for women. It’s a personal choice and absolutely no one’s business but the man & woman involved . It amazes me how kind and patient you both are. I’m grateful I found you both as we all can learn from your grace & patience 🙏🏼Thank you

When my husband had his vasectomy (at the naval hospital far from where we were living at the time), the doctor sent me a letter requesting my permission that it was okay with me. So I wrote the letter saying “We the undersigned, having babysat at one time or another for the children of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick, do wholeheartedly consent to Mr Patrick’s having a vasectomy.” Then I took the letter around town and had everyone sign it. I understand that the Doctor had it framed and hanging in his office 😂. (It was a very small town in Alaska, 50 years ago.)

I love this conversation of a vasectomy. I am 48 and my husband is 52. We had an unexpected pregnancy that resulted in a miscarriage 3 years ago. I’m too old for this. We have grandkids for Pete’s sake! I’m terrified of getting pregnant again. My husband is so hesitant to go and get fixed. I will definitely share Dr. Berrys experience through this.

My husband said he would do it again and the pain wasn't bad. They gave him 1 valium before procedure. I made him ice the area. I'm sure that helped:)

If you are 52 won't you not be able to get pregnant soon? Why make him go through that if he is hesitant? It isn't risk free. Any surgery can be dangerous.

Props dr berry! My husband did this for us 30 yrs ago. Best decision we ever made. So easy for a man. I know this now because I had a hysterectomy at 38 (10 yrs ago) and it took a full year to recover from that hot mess. My husband was literally in the dr office for a 15 min procedure. All was well until I accidentally “turned him on” before he was allowed to be active again, and his privates swelled up to the size of grapefruits 🤦‍♀️😂😂😂, I DO NOT RECOMMEND LOOKING PRETTY OR FEELING FRISKY til they have fully healed😂

We made the same decision 34 years ago when we had a pregnancy "scare". Our oldest was 4 and a half and our twins were almost 6 months old. We were at the dinner table. it was almost 10 pm, our oldest was asleep in his plate and we were each holding a crying baby. We decided when they start coming in "litters", it is time to quit.

@@jeannedigennaro6484 yes, but it isn't the norm any more sadly. people go straight to formula as soon as is convenient for them. new moms are not taught how to breastfeed in our modern culture. one session from a lactation consultant paid for by the hospital is not enough.

@@Amyjwashere yes, I agree with you. I was a baby boomer and my mom’s doctor told her not to breastfeed because she might develop mastitis. Ridiculous. She breastfed me for 3 weeks because she learned about the importance of passing immunity, etc. , to her baby through colostrum and breast milk. After 3 weeks, my mother put me on homemade formula. I should research that to see what the ingredients were! BYW, my mother’s obstetrician also told her not to read anything about pregnancy. But my mom went right out and bought a nurse’s guide to obstetrics, haha!

We had our 2 boys and my husband had a vasectomy while we still had a baby and a toddler, now that the boys are a little bigger he reversed the vasectomy and we’re going for baby number 3. Wish you a good recovery Dr Berry!

My husband had a vasectomy a couple weeks after having our last child. We both agreed that if I named our son after him, he would go through it which I agreed on. That was 9 years ago. My kids and I watched him go through with the procedure. He was fine and actually went to work 24 hours later (light duty). But after 8 kids (5 of whom is from his ex), it was time to do it anyway. He said the pain wasn’t too bad. Laboring is much harder. 😊

my husband had the big V done. This will be the only time I can say get Dr. Berry some carbs!! Frozen peas. 2 bags will be fine. They will work the best for ice. It is not a big deal as long as you lay around and take it easy. Love this video ❤️❤️

My hubby got the snip snip 3 years ago, and it was a great decision. He actually had almost no discomfort (his words) and it gives us peace of mind. We really don't have space or money for another baby, plus I'm over 40 and not into the idea of getting pregnant or changing diapers again. It's great when a man takes on some of the responsibility for birth control, too. At the end of the day though, it's really nobody's place to decide whether you two made the "correct" decision or not. You do what is right for YOUR family and YOUR life. Love you both!

My husband got it done a few years ago and it didn't go well. They put titanium clamps in there and they were huge and sharp and caused him a lot of pain. He had to have a second surgery to get them removed.

Speedy recovery to Dr Berry. My husband had a vasectomy done 17 years ago, and we've never regretted it. It is freeing for both of us to not have to worry about pregnancy again (especially since being keto almost 5 years, I was told I now have the hormones of a 20 year old. I am 47! lol). I'm too old for more babies, haha.

Dr. Berry, it isn't so bad. My husband had it done years ago for us. I watched the procedure. He came home and iced his 'jewels' and took it easy for the weekend. He did great and was back at work on Monday. You will be happy for the 'freedom' soon!!

I had a vasectomy done so my wife could get her IUD out. She has improved greatly from not having it and hormones back to natural. Not that painful, the 3 back surgery I had was more painful.

Your natural hair is BEAUTIFUL. I'm growing mine out too. Respect for Dr. Berry being a loving husband and taking responsibility for bc. My husband did the same for us after our third. He said that I went through pregnancy and childbirth, the least he could do was take care of the bc. Any man that will do that really loves you, imo. God bless and fast recovery.

I understand... I had 4 kids (lost my boy between 1 and 3....) and as I was I Labour with the 5th, and I sat there in Labor pains and made hubby sign the consent forms to have tubes tied... that was in 1973 in NSW Australia! Have a great future... It makes a hell of a difference!

My dad voluntarily got a vasectomy in the early 1970's (they never told me specific dates) because my mom miscarried twins before me, I think I wasn't the easiest, and my brother was a 'blue baby' born a month early. He loved and cared about her enough to not want *her* to go through that again.

I wish you luck. I got a vasectomy at I think 25 years old, I am 69 now. I have noticed that I am a lot more tender and easily pained ever since. Still the same. I am probably silly, but, I think that was my physical downfall, lol.

I watched this last year, but I had gastric bypass in February and I've restarted carnivore within the past 2 weeks and I also feel like fat is more satiating than protein. I can eat a lot of protein even after bypass.
