Even Chinese actually don't realize how smart the chinese products are nowadays. So much innovation enabled by IoT, 5G, and many other smart technology on all kinds of household electronics, smart appliances, intelligent furnitures/home automation, smart toys and even heating clothes/scarf with eletricity by lots of Chinese companys. I feel like nowadays all of those kinds of innovative products are from China, not EU or US.
That famous ancient Chinese fable of an old man Sai whose horse ran away deserves a place in textbooks. Long story short, the teaching is that sometimes misfortunes are blessings in disguise. When the US blocked a Chinese ship in the gulf region from using GPS and it got stuck for a while, it forced China to seek an European partner to build another system. But when the European joint venture failed, China must go it alone, that's how the Beidou system came about. There are so many similar stories, like the banning of high function advanced chips from the US to China used in supercomputers, NASA blocked China's participation in their space station, etc. In each case the US forced China to invent its own to avoid the choke-hold but ultimately accelerated the process to decouple. No wonder the US and EU feel the heat.
