I bought a 130i (for my wife haha) randomly two years ago. Had a great spec (heated, full electric leathers, Idrive, xenons). It was one of the best cars I have ever owned. Utterly reliable and the engine loved to be revved. Pulled strongly all the way to the redline. Annoyingly, it was involved in a bump and was written off, but what a fantastic car for the price (£3800 in 2018!) still trying to convince my wife to buy another! One I "regret" selling is my JDM Honda Integra dc2, however, the replacement, ek9 civic type r with a b18c is slightly better and more fun to drive. Dc2 looked better in my eyes though.

When I was 10 years old back in 2004, my Japanese neighbour in Tokyo had an 'Aventurine Green' 993 Carrera when he was single, and when he got married a few years later, he replaced it with a 'Sparkling Graphite Grey' E81 130i - yes you read that right. Seeing how the 993 used market prices had gone up several years after that, I'm sure he regretted selling that, despite the 130i having a silky smooth magnesium/aluminium block N52. Maybe his wife didn't approve the 993, so he had to make an uncomfortable compromise.
@smilepermile888
@smilepermile888 4 года назад
and FYI he only had one parking space allocated to his house like most houses in Tokyo do, due to limited land space. Perhaps he had another parking spot away from his house, where he kept his 993 but I wouldn't have ever known about that.

James, it's an easy one for me - my Honda Accord Type R. It was ex-Penny Mallory, and had both air-con (rare) and a great stereo. I've never enjoyed driving anything as much - it had an intuitive, delicate chassis with great feedback, and I even grew to like the wing. The development budget had been spent where it mattered from an enthusiast's point of view - wishbones, momo wheel, recaros and specially lightened door glass (which was a pain to source after someone broke into it). Great car.

Loved the 130i, the phrase "wolf in sheep's clothing" has never been more apt. As for regrets, I think I regret selling almost every car I've owned on some level. Escort GTi, Polo G40, Puma 1.7, E36 etc. But my biggest regret by far will be the day my MA70 Supra has to go, I keep holding on to the dream that I'll somehow come into enough money that I'll be able to keep the Supra AND have something practical and useful for the business, but I think one day that practicality is going to be more over-riding than even pop up headlamps 😳

Couldn’t agree more, the 1st gen 1series are a great little car. We replaced our x5 4.8is almost a year ago with a 2dr 118d as we needed something cheap to run, I was very surprised at how solid the little car was, and fun to drive. Can only imagine how great it is to have the extra power and sound of the 3liter inline six unit under the bonnet, fantastic. Cheers for the video 👍👍

I have nothing but good things to say about high mileage bmws, if they were taken care of, it's almost better off buying a high mileage than one with under say 100,000km. Had a 323i with 385,000km, it ran like it was new. It was automatic too!! Shifted perfectly.

I put the car on a dealers forecourt and it eventually sold in early 2007. A fantastic car which I still miss, and a new one now is just too much money given my low mileage now I am retired. Just a few months back I bought a 130i here in Australia. It's brilliant. Well looked after, all the usual oil leaks taken care of already. Well specd as well. No heated seats, but has iDrive, comfort access (keyless start), sunroof, M sports package, parking sensors, upgraded stereo, fully electric sports seats with bolster adjustment. AUD $11,000 I paid. I think it's brilliant value considering the cheapest brand new car in Australia is a crappy little 3 cylinder Mitsubishi Mirage at nearly 2k more than I paid for the 130i.

A few years ago I upgraded from a horrendous 206 1.1 (first car) to an absolute curve ball Alfa Romeo 147 1600cc TwinSpark. I bought it for £600 with no warranty, hardly any history and a few months MOT. However, it was absolutely mint. No rust, clean interior and a super smooth TwinSpark engine. I took the punt, got him down from £1200 on the terms it had hardly any paperwork and away I went. I covered 30k in just under a year and it never skipped a beat nor broke down once. Wasn't the quickest but it certainly gave everything in it's class a good going over. It had such fun handling and a beautiful engine that loved to rev. I replaced it with a Championship White FN2 Civic Type R which was absolutely savage and looked the nuts - also a bundle of fun to drive but never quite gave me the satisfaction that the cheap and cheerful Alfa did. The Type R became an absolute nightmare to daily, emptying my wallet on a weekly basis and the bucket seats that constantly returned to their original position when you let passengers in the rear were a sign to move on to something more sensible. A Valenica Orange BMW 125d M Sport 5dr. Which is absolutely fantastic on every level, and is dare I say it, quicker off the line than the Type R anyway. It's an un-assuming diesel-rocket-daily with all the tech a man could need and handling that puts a grin from ear to ear. It is not however, my beloved 147 TwinSpark, and that car was truly something else!

2011 Honda crz. Got it with some minor upgrades (aftermarket sunroof, better speakers, remote start) and about 30k miles on it. I loved that car to bits, probably more because it was my first car and where I was living at the time, I was one of two people with one rather than the actual driving experience. My friend had a Fit, and they felt basically the same. I put 70k miles on that thing and by the time I sold it on it had become a host of numerous electrical gremlins. Even with every headache it caused I’d buy it back in a heartbeat

I had to sell it to pay my income tax in 1990, but in 1992 I found it again on sale & ran it for another 2 years but sold it again at 98,500 miles! Finances were tight at the time. The car is still around on a different Reg Number & fewer miles as can happen! I loved that car. I’ve had 3 other 308GT4’s but none have driven as well as that blue one! Over the last 50 or so years I have owned many cars, some good ...some not so good. But, of all of them, the only one I really regret parting with was a Tartan Red & Black Morris Cooper S with the high revving and very rare 970cc engine. It was in generally sound condition and I had spent a lot of money keeping it that way. I can still recall that lovely little engine buzzing away as we hurtled about. My girl friend, later my wife, was outraged when I sold it. As soon as the deed was done, I knew that I'd made a terrible mistake but there was no going back. I look through the adverts in classic car magazines from time to time but they have now become ludicrously expensive.

I regret totalling an e36 Compact, albeit with a smaller engine than yours. I could never buy another one with such low mileage, in immaculate condition, with working A/C and two front airbags, which was literally a life-saver in the head-on collision. But I deeply regret selling my 1983 Mercedes SL280 with a hard top, in red. That was the most special car I probably owned and apart from the 18/21mpg, it was dirt cheap to run on classic insurance, with absolutely nothing going wrong during my ownership. 107 prices have gone through the roof, but in 2009, they were still relatively affordable. I also regret selling my MK5 Golf with the DSG auto box and the 1.9 TDi, cruise control and usual specs. I’ve had problems with every single diesel engine I’ve had since that car and once you have a well maintained example, you should keep it. To me, that is the pinnacle of ordinary diesels and any development since was just a regression. I also love the six speed DSG, it’s a great transmission.

The car I regret selling is the Opel Kadett 180is that I sold in South Africa in 2004...not the range topping 200TS that I owned a few years later but such a fun car and the first car that I financed with my own money...miss her every day!

I sold my classic Subaru Impreza Turbo (2000) 5 dooor in mic blue with rare gray leather seats and air con to buy a 2006 BMW 130i. I miss my scooby, I had it for 7 years and put 70k miles on it. The 130i was wonderful but terrible on fuel when my wife started using it as a daily for the school run. I sold the 130i after 2 years, frustrated by the fortune I was spending at the local Shell and not getting to drive it since I was unemployed at the time. My daughter still says the 130i was the best car we ever owned, now they do the school run in a 2018 VW Tiguan . I wish I'd kept both the Impreza and the 130i but who knew how terrible and soul less cars would become in the tech era.

Around 2002 Renault 5 Turbos were everywhere and could be picked up super cheap. I bought mine for £2000 and over the course of 5 years spent close to 10k making it look nice. Some sensible engines mods, no silly body kits or anything. Clean and nice. Sold it in 2007 for £1500, took 6 months to sell it even at that stupidly low price, no one wanted them. I miss the car and will always regret seeing it go. Hindsight man.......

Both stunning in thier own way, and (the Supra especially) hard to find in good condition.

I own a M135i and I absolutely love it, I purchased it new and I've had it for 6 years. I keep asking myself why I'm not thinking of changing this car, and how long do I intend to keep it. The simple answer is that I've had quite a few cars in my life, many have been BMW's, but the 135 is so good I just want to keep it.

My very original 2 previous owners 1972 Escort 1300. I sold it, bought it back, then sold it again when I realised some of the bodywork needed more attention than I remembered. Now, it’s had the usual 2-litre engine swap and a respray in white. I’ll probably never see it again. 😢

Honestly the car I regret selling the most was my 3rd K10 Micra... Beige 1.0 with the rare 5spd, beige/brown interior, all of 50hp when it was new, horrifically bad brakes and a slightly suspect dent on the rear C-pillar outer skin. It failed an MOT on a spot of rust and a seized rear brake which would've been easily solved with an afternoon...instead it was scrapped. The owner though, to his credit, did immediately buy the cleanest AW11 MR-2 I've ever seen to replace it...having barely passed his test.

mine was an 82 Alfa Romeo GTV6, with the famous busso engine, not a logical answer given all their issues for the period, but I had many great memories in that car and it was my first!!... still look at them today and so far manage to pull my head out of the ground...

After nearly sixty years of motoring, and well over a hundred cars, there are several, maybe many, that I regret selling and would be very happy to have back in my possession, but there were good reasons at the time for selling. The only regretful sale at the time was, in fact, of three cars, but since they funded the outright purchase of my first house it was the right decision at the time. No chance of buying them back; the 1929 Austin Seven coupe is now in Japan, the 1930 Austin Ulster was last heard of in Italy, and the 1931 Talbot 75 seems to have vanished completely.

I am not sure if its a good thing, but we are so similar for car choices. I had 130i since 2012, came across your channel due to the evora 400 vids. Now have a rx7 and a V10 m6 but both of those would go before my 130i LE. it does everything! response is amazing. pulls strong and linear from 1900 to 6900rpm. little peak of torque above 4k. enough power to overtake & have fun, without being so powerful that illegal speeds come too quick&your scared at the limit. Manual gearbox is good. Great handling when you ditch run flats and change lower control arms. 30mpg genuine daily economy. can put an armchair in boot. looks like no other car. LE spec comes with nice wheels and paint job. interior decently premium. rare love it! only complaints are m sport springs are stiff and would prefer stiffer ARBs instead. Limited slip diff. louder exhaust.

I don't regret moving on from any of my cars. It was always done because it was the right thing to do at the time. The car world is huge and if you move to a car that sucks, then you've still gained knowledge/experience out of that. Unless you owned a very rare car, you can always get another one of the one you loved.

I sold a Porsche 944 turbo (one of the last made, black with cream leather) far quicker than I expected. It was in a specialist for servicing and I asked them to give it a good going over as I was thinking of selling it. They replied saying they knew several people that had seen it in their before and would probably buy it, and it was sold within a couple of days. A few years after buying it I was driving mostly motorways which was a bit of a waste, and I didn't want to look a gift horse in the mouth. Ended up buying a 5 series saloon from my brother (in the trade) which was quite good to drive. Missed the Porsche though.

In 2018 I was working at a VW dealership. We got a 2003 bmw 330 in on trade. Dark blue in MINT condition and I don’t think my dealership realized it’s true value and placed it on sale for around 3 grand. That car got SO much attention over the next few days and someone from TEN hours away came and picked it up. Was 21 at the time and didn’t think buying a potentially unreliable 3 series was the right move, but I think about that car often, wishing I had bought it myself

The 130i is the one that got away for me too. Difference is I've never owned one but feel like I have a hole in my car history for not having had one. I'd have wanted an earlier one with the hydraulic steering but they're just a bit old for a daily for me now, especially as I have a 20 year old weekend toy that takes a lot of work. Yup, should have got one after my E36 328is which I had for 7 years and utterly adored.

Several. The main one was my 944 Turbo. It was the spec anyone would want if they were in the market for a modified 951. Early 91 car KW V3s, 965/928GTS Big Black brakes with matching refurbed rears. Wortec Switchable exhaust. New dashboard, and suspension/bushes/mounts. Chipped and running a Stage 1 Intercooler, resulting in 290BHP. 17" Cup 1s. It came from the factory with the Sports seats. New cooling system throughout, along with new wings and sills. Oh, and it had the factory LSD with the transaxle cooler It was an ex-ProMax Motorsport director's car (Andrew Sweetenaham's) and my buddies and EMC Motorsport had it and sold it to me. It was a very sorted car. It left EMC with a rebuilt head as well. It shifted quicker than it had any right to with that power level. It handled better than it had any right to. it just took everything so well in its stride. Make no mistake, I've mad the M3 more 'me' over the years, but that 944 Turbo left a big impression. Which is why I sold it. It had a few miles under the belt (180k to exact) but compared to alot of lower mileage brethren you'd never have known ; it was leagues ahead of the 120k mile S2 I had years before. Why did I sell the 944 Turbo? The mileage worried me. Not about reliability, but saleability, which TBH was stupid. I doubt I've have ever sold that car TBH. My low mileage Stag at the time was also haemorrhaging cash hand over fist. Bar the engine, almost everything else had work over the 5 turbulent years I owned it. Sure I did all of the work on it, but it never stopped. It didn't when the next owner took it over, which ironically was Roger Keys from ProMax/MonkFish Performance. He let me know that the 951 was a great car. When I see what 951s are worth now, that really doesn't help.

There are few cars I regret selling just because I lost a lot of money on them - like my Mk1 Mazda 3 MPS, but wasn't the car for me. Think my biggest regret is actually when I ended up scrapping my Mk2 Mr2 with V6 engine conversion due to the dreaded tin worm. Had that for 7 years. Carribean blue, pop up headlights, mid engined and a great V6 engine note. Probably the closest thing I got to a "proper" sports car, and nothing really like it around these days (that I can afford anyway).

All during the video I was thinking "buy it back!". I'd thank you for the happy ending, but that doesn't seem proper. My seller's remorse? A big-bumper 1992 GTI 16v (Mk II). It was US-spec with the Recaro interior, BBS wheels, and quad headlights. It was prepared for track-based autocross but remained street-legal. It was later totaled by its next owner.

I regret selling my E36 M3 Turbo with full lightweight interior (super rare, 1 of 170, if memory serves). It was used, but babied since new and I ended up effectively giving it to one of my friends who wanted to race it at the track. At the time, I thought I'd rather have someone enjoy it rather than it sit in my garage (drove maybe ~3k miles/year). Today, however... I wish I kept it. There are very few cars which I feel as passionate about today.
