This channel is dedicated to all the gold seeking Pickleballers out there who dink responsibly and stay out of the kitchen. We have all levels come through the channel, but we concentrate on the 4.0, 4.5 and up to 5.5 with the pros.
I started this channel quite by accident, I was recording my games to do film study and get better. I did not have time or money for lessons from pro pickleball coach, so I started watching all my screwups. People that I was playing with started to ask if they could watch too and I said sure. That helped all of us a lot to improve our game, strategy, mental toughness, and techniques. Now we have new pickleball videos published several times a week. We occasionally have pro pickleball players on the channel. Mostly its non pro pickleball players on their quest to 5.0 pickleball. We have all levels come through the channel, but we concentrate on the 4.0 pickleball, 4.5 pickleball and up to 5.5 pickleball with the pros.

As the female partner, I’ve played this stacking technique and basically lost my momentum from not hitting enough balls. It was like my male partner was playing singles and I didn’t have enough action. Stacking may good for a few points….but not all the time.

Feels like this can also be true the other way around though. I find in mixed that teams will often hit 90% of their shots to the woman on the other side and the man can struggle to get involved. Seems like the woman is playing singles in that scenario. That may be more fun for the woman, but the pairs that let that happen tend not to win I suspect. The solution is to have pairs where the man and woman are actually of similar strength, so there is no reason to play on one person, or for one person to take all the shots. But then you just don't have remotely enough women to play at the stronger levels.

Man that was hard to watch. Why would anyone partner with you. Complete spaz all around the court. Some properly placed shots completely neutralizes the over the top aggression. Great tutorial video on how not to play doubles.

I'm not sure if I'm feeling more sorry for Joey's opponents, having to put up with that over-the-top aggression, or if I'm more sorry for his supposed 'partner'. Hopefully I never have to play against/with someone like this.

When i watch him play all I can think about is that scene from "Meet the Fockers" .. Where they are playing volleyball in the pool and Ben goes up for the spike and breaks the girls nose.

If I was slated to play with him, I'd walk away and say 'no thanks' as we've seen too many get hit in the face with hard balls, and he is 'over the top'. Much safer to just say, you can have that one.

No offense Joey but your opponent is correct in calling you out at 6:12. It is technically a fault to intentionally distract.

is getting big and spreading your arms out really considered a distraction? He wasn't waving or making noise. I see it more as a bait to have your paddle out wide. He's just getting in their head with paddle positions and I don't think you can call that a distraction. Joey often likes to shuffle middle as a fake then quickly go back to his side as an attempt to throw the opponents off as well. Would this also be considered a distraction?

I love looking for the hidden effects and consequences of player decisions. Early on James (purple) is getting irked by Joey and plays into his hands by trying to match aggressiveness. But I think over time, James’ partner Lauren was able to play more and stay engaged, while Joey’s partner, Kristyna, got a lot fewer touches, and never got into a rhythm which put more and more pressure on Joey to be perfect. Joey & Kristyna’s errors go way up later in the game, probably costing them the game. If James could have checked his anger early on, slowed it down and kept the ball low, I think they would have won more easily.

I've taken lead over matches myself, when I feel my partner is erring alot, it's seems selfish maybe to onlookers, but it's never been a problem. I've had partners do the same when they since my game isn't on also,,,it is a tournament.

This sort of play is the dividing line between solid 4/4.5s and solid 3/4s. The guy in white is a banger all around, and will bully opponents until they can put a few balls in the kitchen. You can’t fault someone for sticking with what works, even if it’s an obnoxious and unfun way to play against, you got to stop it before you can knock it.

Watched the video and was very confused. This doesn't look like 4.0 to me all I saw was banging as hard as one could, no strategy, very short points, lots of errors and much more.

@@MarkNapartovich Just about every professional pickle ball player on RU-vid. I’ve watched dozens of hours of pro matches and literally nobody plays like a banger. They 3rd shot drop, play dinking at the net and take advantage of errors. It is rare for pro’s to drive more than twice w/o resetting (4 consecutive drives by both sides). Bangers don’t survive at true 4.0 and above.

While I agree his play style is very aggressive. His team mate has to already know this and is willing to play with him. I’m not sure why everyone is trashing on him so much. I mean it’s a tournament. If this was mixed skill play, I would wish him severe injury, but it’s a tournament, and I wish more pro player played like this. It would be entertaining

Tell me, tournament play isn't a $$ game, so it's no different other than you have a Ref! This wasn't entertaining at all...albeit I have to admit I could only watch Mr. Bully for half the game, then went on to watch some normal games. Nothing in this game that someone could take as a 'tip' on how to play properly.

Ref overrule on the ball at 11:50 was a stretch. Slow mo shows the ball probably didn't touch the line and from the ref's perspective the the ball would appear closer than it was. Very unfortunate.

i slow mo'd it too and saw it as out. i can see how it may look to touch the line from the judges angle. but the opponent had the best angle since she was right on top of that line and down the line.

Mixed ratings are different from Men's ratings. If this was his first mixed tournament, he could play 2.5 if he wanted to.

ball on 11:47 was out. it was overruled by line judge as being in. it was close but the initial call was correct as being out.

@@ThePickleballPirates yes, mistakes happen. nobody is perfect in calling lines. what we can learn from this is the ref wasn't in the right position to overrule that call since the angle she was in was hard to define the call. the player calling out was the one on top and best position. even the opponent should have known the call was out as well because he had some angles to see better than the ref.

I play rec against a couple like this quite often. You have to slow it down, get your drops and resets right, or pay the price. It can be frustrating but it can also be a valuable experience.

6:09 that sort of tactic should be a penalty if it is a tournament. In tennis that's a big no-no, and generally considered very poor sportsmanship.

For spectators, definitely not a fun game to watch, when one guy is running all over the place, smashing balls. Seen far too many get hit with balls in the face. Easy to loose an eye if you don't have safety glasses on.

Conflicted here…as a serial poacher from my tennis days I tend to poach even more so when I’m with a weaker partner who’s getting picked on. The problem with aggressive poaching, from my experience, is one tends to go for too much and ends up costing your team points. Another issue is the sidelined partner doesn’t know where to go & the poacher ends up having to cover the entire court. I think Joey was going for a little too much early on but seemed to settle down a bit. He’s trying to win folks. Watch a pro MxD match - the guy is usually playing 5/6 of the court.

Bangers will, quite often hit them out. They should have let more fly. There didn’t seem to be much finesse in this game. JMO, which doesn’t amount to much as I’ve only been playing about 14 months. But I love watching matches. It’s a great learning tool!

A game of 'slammers', as to who can out slam the other type of game. Takes the enjoyment out of the game, at least watching it. Watched part of the game, then gave up before someone got hurt. Not a fun game to play, nor to watch unless players are equal. I'm done...
