I've been on Ozempic for 6 months. Finally, something that actually works for me. I feel fine. My lab work is fine. And I'm down 47#. I've tried everything else short of bariatric surgery -- this med has been has been a godsend.

This 'obsession jumping' is so very familiar. One month it is food, the next it is health, the next it is a relationship, the next it is our job. I could always "solve/cure" one and another immediately popped up. It wasn't until I found a trained OCD therapist and worked through an ERP program that I was able to genuinely change on the metal patterns that kept me trapped in that never ending anxiety cycle. Wishing ginger luck on this journey!

I've been feeling guilty for taking Ozempic and this series really helps. My whole family is prone to obesity and diabetes and I just was getting too close to that same fate for my comfort. I was also really struggling with balancing eating enough to lift heavy (I was a competitive powerlifter for a couple years) while still losing fat. I lost 10lbs myself earlier this year, but I was miserable and it was brutal. Ozempic has made the journey much better for my sanity.

thats awesome! thats literally the whole point of any medication - to make our lives more liveable and our quality of life better. it's interesting to see the overlap in public perception of ozempic and SSRIs, which I take to keep myself stable. both medications come with a lot of unsolicited remarks from people who don't understand that our lives would be significantly shorter or lower quality without these meds. we don't have to suffer the way our ancestors did - and they wouldn't want us to! i hope the med keeps helping you reach your health goals and you're able to break the familial pattern of chronic disease.

I’ve been on ozempic for 5 1/2 months and have lost 33 pounds so far. Ozempic was prescribed for me by my doctor because I have a BMI of 45, I have sleep apnea, elevated cholesterol (to the point where I needed to either loose weight or go on a statin) and elevated blood pressure (to the point where I needed to either loose weight or go on blood pressure meds). Interestingly my blood sugars are fine. So he, his nutritionist and I talked about Ozempic and that’s the route I decided to go vs. statins and blood pressure meds. I have zero side effects from taking 1 mg weekly of Ozempic; with 33 pounds down so far, my blood pressure has come way down and although I haven’t yet had my cholesterol checked recently, I’m positive that’s coming down as well because I am eating much better. Ozempic has taken away all the food noise going on my in head as well as those cravings for high fat and high sugar foods. I haven’t found that my obsession with food has morphed to another obsession such as alcohol or shopping, etc. My theory as to why I haven’t experienced any obsession transfer like some people experience after bariatric surgery is because Ozempic works not only by slowing down the digestion process, but also with the hormones that can affect my food obsession - at least this is how my doctor and nutritionist explained it to me. I know that a lot of people think that it’s much healthier to loose the weight without any tools (and the new weight loss drugs as well as bariatric surgery are a tool), but I am not one of those people. I have tried over the years (I am 70 years old and have been on many various weight loss journeys since I was in my early teens) and have never been able to keep the weight off; so for me, Ozempic is working. I no longer have that noise in my head and feel so much better.

The added anxiety and stress makes sense to me for a couple of reasons. 1) this is something Ginger has been trying to do for years and has not successfully been able to achieve. Finally a goal she has had for so long is within reach. It makes sense that that would cause anxiety (what if I still don’t get there) but also the intrusion of perfectionism or previous eating disorder thoughts (some is good, more is better/ how can I make it go faster, how can I be more successful). 2) She’s changing how she is physically showing up in the world. She’s drastically changing her outer look. Oddly being overweight can be a mental form of protection, in a sense it can keep people away. Armour if you like. So that can be subconsciously scary for some people. 3) Also there will be so many thoughts and stories over the years of what I’ll do when I get the weight off or how my life will be once I am healthy etc. Being on the threshold of those expectations you have of yourself and your life is also anxiety provoking. All of this will be subconscious, and there are obviously 100s of other personal reasons and triggers and beliefs play their own part. Equally none of this may be affecting Ginger and her anxiety may come from different places. We humans are a fascinating lot.

The clinic has me also go to a behaviorial therapist who also reccomended I start therapy with an actual therapist so seeing someone as you go through this is really helpful! I know therapist of some kind will also help with the feeling that you aren't losing the weight fast enough. I have to constantly be reminded to trust the process and that as long as everything is looking good, then you're good. I'm definately not optimal shape with sleeping well but I can't till the sleep is locked in to start feeling much better. Loving the series cause it makes me feel like I'm not going through it alone.

Thank you for this series - and Ginger, thank you for your honesty and candor. My doctor recommended I start Ozempic for weight and as a protection for my heart I was very uncertain even though he is very conservative about medications so I took his suggestion seriously Your calm, sensible discussions helped me to think through my choice carefully and I am now in my third week - still just getting oriented, minor side effects but adjusting to them and learning what triggers them and how to counter with what I eat still. Again, listening to your latest here wanted to thank you -- and to say I find the negative voices so odd. I wonder why our medical choices, managed by physicians, are so triggering for them - that's sad.
@BlackJack-sx1jw
@BlackJack-sx1jw 11 месяцев назад
I have a theory about that. The negative voices don’t really care about you, although they are careful to wrap their bias and negativity in a cloak of caring and concern. They think that people have no right to take shortcuts to attain goals. They feel you only deserve to be happy if you put in the hard work like THEY did with diet and exercise. Screw that. Life is too short to be that miserable. Don’t listen to those people. They don’t know what’s best for you.

It's very true. I am 50 and gained weight through menopause. I didn't really notice it because I avoid the scale, but I caught a glimpse of my weight at the doctor's office and lost about 10 lbs without trying. So a few months later, I'm down over 35 without trying which isn't a good thing necessarily, something is up with my thyroid. But. My body checking is mildly kicking. Im 5 months in and have had very few eating related challenges as Gingers expressed in the past few videos. Food noise is slightly gone, but I find myself instead wondering what to eat and not knowing what to eat instead. Ive lost about 16 pounds - that has been the most challenging issue as I expected to be down more. Im also working with a dietician and eat 1700 calories a day. I use Cronometer to track my meals - great app! I just keep hitting weight loss plateaus. My blood fasting levels have gone down, but A1C's have remained the same. I have noticed I have a little less anxiety, and still sometimes crave sugar, but cant eat as much as I would regularly (including heavy carbs). I didnt know Ginger was Canadian and in my city - nice to hear about other experiences and learn of some tips and tricks. Ill look up the meal service, as it would be nice to take that load off my plate. Appreciate you Abby for being realistic and reminding us that its okay if we cant do everything / arent perfect.

So I finally at the age of 61 hit full menopause - it caused depression, sleep deprivation, carb cravings causing me to completely chuck over my keto food plan that I had been on for several years and a 50 lb weight gain. I finally got in a correct mindset and got back on keto and IF and the weight loss was barely moving. It was deeply depressing! So I made the decision to add ozempic. This allowed me to start steadily losing weight and no longer have a love affair with food. I’m eating 1-2 meals per day and I’m eating primarily keto. Insofar my weight started at 161 lbs and I’m down to 137 lbs. My goal weight is 108 lbs as I’m 5’1” tall and this is important because I’ve the joints from hell. I’ve already had 8 knee surgeries and 3 back surgeries and still need at least 6 more ortho surgeries so maintaining that healthy weight is really a critical step for me. But I’m going in the right direction! Ozempic is a tool not the entire answer.

I considered it and even had it prescribed but then couldn’t get myself to do it. Something just shifted in my mind when I thought about injecting myself. The behaviors associated with ozrmpic were too close to my old ed behaviors. It felt like I’d be giving up control in a way. It prompted me to approach this in a different more mentally focused way and I’m doing ok with that. Maybe I’ll change my mind one day but for now it’s not for me.

Regarding the issue of anxiety/depression on GLP1, I have experienced this. I have spent some time thinking about this and I believe in my life it is related to the reduction in the activation of those pleasure centers in my brain that used to light up real big when I would eat certain things. It’s just not there anymore, not in the same way. I can’t make myself feel better with food because that doesn’t work like it used to. All those crappy feelings were always there. I am just having to sit with them way differently right now because the food as medicine impulse isn’t doing the job it once did. Rough stuff.

an obsession with not eating food is still an obsession about food. it kind of makes sense that people switched from one extreme to another... we all need something safe and good to obsess over and become a sanctuary from the struggles of living. you are so right to say 'don't go into forums'. it's ok if it's a gardening hobby, but weight loss forums, political forums, those are deep rabbit holes.

I am living my whole life with an eating disorder and although I think losing weight with ozempic will be efficient I think that the psychological aspect of overweight or Adipositas needs to be addressed simultaneously. Because as soon as ozempic is not taken any more you have to deal with it on your own and if the mindset is still the same, the results will be the same too.

Okay, I been wanting to share about this. I was adviced to try ozempic from my Dr. Because I was boaderline pre diabetic but mostly he wanted me to lose weight and said I'd be a prefect patient for it. My insurance did Approve it. I did mainly gain weight from taking on 2 jobs. My life changed from being a stay home mom. Working out 5 days a week and losing 70lbs on a plant based diet. Then taking on 2 jobs and going through life changes. Within the 2 years i gained 10lbs which wasnt to bad . After 3 months of being on ozempic I didn't even lose 1lb it was so depressing for me. I didn't eat much, I was hardly hungry. Then I decided to give up my second job so I lost my insurance. As soon as I stopped ozempic I Instantly gained 10lbs in one week. And now I'm about 25lbs over since I got off pen. So instead of me being 10lbs over weight I'm 35lbs over weight. I never lost any weight during the 3 months on ozempic just lost my Appetite and it stopped me from gaining. Now I'm super over weight. And have to battle with losing what i gained. I'm back in the gym, and eating healthy so I'm trying to lose what I gained. It was the worst Decision ever. And it didn't personally benefit me in any way.

I have more weight to lose but I know its a matter of time. I have better tools in my toolbelt and statistically without an intervention I was doomed. This changed that. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes two years ago. At the time I was at my normal, life-long weight of 120-125 pounds (I’m 65). I was prescribed Levemir and started using a CGM monitor. My A1C came down to normal levels. In October it was at 5. There were 2 problems with the insulin. I was spiking to almost 300 during the day and dropping to below 60 at night, plus I was hungry all the time and I gained almost 30 pounds. The doctor decided I didn’t need the insulin. She prescribed Ozempic, starting with .25 mg. I just finished my second week. The first week, I was so sick. With nausea and motion sickness constantly. I also lost 8 pounds, but was pretty sure it came from being too sick to eat. Also, I think Ozempic has a mild diuretic effect so some of that might be water weight. This second week has been great. I felt so much better, my blood sugar levels remain steady and just above normal around 110-120. No spikes or sudden drops. I’m supposed to increase the dosage to .5mg today, but I think I’m going to give it another week. I can’t stand the thought of feeling that bad again and I want my body to get used to it. If my BS goes wonky, I’ll rethink it next week. In total, I’ve lost 12 ponds in 2 weeks. I can’t believe I feel this good again. Better than I’ve felt in 2 years. Now, if they’d just come out with a medication that lets me have a donut once in awhile I’d be really happy. Oh, one thing I wanted to say is that the nausea and motion sickness I experienced were somewhat relieved by the smell of peppermint oil. I carried around a little vial of it and it really helped. I do have a concern as to what I’m going to do when I reach my goal weight. I’m too old to drop to much lower than 125 ponds. That skin will never tighten up. I have a hard time eating if I’m not hungry, but I guess I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it. I have 10 more pounds I’d like to lose and I’d just as soon lose it very slowly. Thanks for this channel. It’s been very helpful. I don’t even know anyone with diabetes so I don’t have any place to ask basic questions.

I'm a diabetic, not obese, who has been taking Mounjaro for 9 months. It's very similar to Ozempic. I agree, ask your doctor to stay at the .25 dose as long as it is working fine. That's what I did for the first 5 months. I also have a CGM, and I could see that it wasn't controlling my sugar as well, instead of going to 120-150 after a meal, it 200 or more. So that was time to up the dose. I've since been at 5mg and doing great. My a1c was 5.8 at my last appointment. I am losing weight that I do not want to lose, the good news about that, this is where donuts come in! No, really, if Ozempic works as well as Mounjaro, your pancreas will make the insulin you need to handle carbs, including sugary treats. I forgot to mention, I was also insulin dependent (Toujeo and Apidra) so I had cut out all sweets and most carbs too. Now I eat normal amounts of carbs like my non-diabetic husband, just smaller portions. Yes, I used to have a couple of forkfuls of pasta with a lot of meat sauce, now I have a plate of spaghetti and meat sauce like everyone else.

I forgot to tell you how I'm trying to keep the weight I'm at now. I'll make myself a whole sandwich for lunch even though I know I can only eat half. I'll get the other half out 2-3 hours later and finish it. I'll have a good sized bowl of stew for supper, finish half and put the rest away for later. Yes, 2-3 hours later I'm finishing it. You will find that you might need several small meals to keep up your calories. It will be eating when you're not hungry, which does seem wrong, but with these meds I'm never really hungry anyway! LOL Also keep an eye on your CGM, you'll be surprised at what you can eat without your sugar going crazy high. I had 2 cookies today, my sugar went to 150. Before Mounjaro, 1 cookie would have sent it over 300.

My passion is needlework and I will protect my eyesight at all costs. I already have some damage and I’m not willing to risk any more by consuming carbs that I don’t even care that much about. I would also suggest something that worked really well to get out of my eating disordered patterns- a food journal, how hungry you were before a meal, how full afterwards, what your triggers are, when cravings appeared and have somebody read over it and give you some feedback. You will be surprised how stubborn and sneaky some disordered eating patters are and how much your mind plays tricks woth you. I would say get it out in the open light and learn from your mistakes. Every time you screw up, you get back on your feet and try again, for me going through the food hell and being aware every step of the way was the only way out

Of course i do not know you, and of course you should discuss this with your doctors however, what i had to learn the very painful way is that if you do not consume enough energy you will not lose weight or even gain it. yes im aware how people will tell you this is not true, and any caloric deficit will cause a weight loss but it simply is not reality And being in a caloric deficit for long can cause hormonal issues, and other health issues. So personally im not a big fan of ozempic instead of listening to your body. So the question should be are you now consuming a healthy amount of calories? Have you had tests done to evaluate how many kcal you need? If you exercise more, your caloric needs will also go up naturally. So talking to experts in terms of your metabolism imo is very important when you re on this drug, to keep a healthy balance of meals and nutrients. Given that you cannot do intuitive eating. I am not on ozempic but after years of anorexia i never feel hungry, and so im kind of imagining what its like; and imo its super hard to eat healthy and consume enough energy when you neither enjoy food nor feel the urge to eat. But im saying all of this without knowing you or your circumstances. Im just sharing the idea, this may not be the drug for you. Unless it is your diabetes drug of course! I heard you can lose max 15% of your weight and then it will stop and your body adjust. So it seems to plateau with everyone at some point. You said you didnt lose any weight in general. I also read that people who have diabetes and take the drug as a diabetes drug, do not tend to lose weight as much as those who take it for weight loss purposes - as the diabates mechanism "blocks" this out. if you get into too low of a caloric deficit and start starvation, your body will probably not cooperate I know myself and i am not lying, i been in a significant caloric deficit for over 10 years and in this time i have continiously gained weight. So i am not spitting bullshit in terms of your body will find a way, even if this way is CFS This said, you should and hopefully did, a full checkup with your doctor to exclude other health issues like hormonal issues. I wonder what your doctor said in response to you not losing any weight?

When you look up what ozempic is doing to the stomach and why you feel full it's quite frustrating being someone who suffers from gastroparesis. If you look that up you will see most of the same side effects of the medicine are the symptoms of my chronic illness. The difference is I don't have a medication that will fix my symptoms. I will eventually need a feeding tube and port for an IV. It's not a fun disease and currently no medication has worked for me. I've tried surgery and now have to eat two or three bites of food every few hours just as to not overboard my stomach. If I drink too much water if I take one too many bites I could end up sick for days. I've been in and out of the hospital with sepsis due to food rotting within my stomach. Please do your research and follow your doctor. If you are on this medication. It's scary to think that people are voluntarily putting themselves through something I deal with daily.

I am not on Ozempic, I do struggle with ED thoughts and adjacent issues, and also, I have major issues with OCD, anxiety and depression. What I am hearing is a lot of mental picture issues, and how Ginger is feeling about certain aspect of her health. First off, a vitamin D deficiency is common. It’s not necessarily a patient’s fault of lack of proper nutrition. I am Vitamin D deficient, no matter if it’s February 12th, at the height of my typical Seasonal Affect Disorder, or if it’s June 21st, the longest daylight period, in the northern hemisphere, I always have issues absorbing and holding onto Vitamin D. It’s something my medical team and I struggle to maintain and keep in balance. Ginger’s talk about how it’s her fault and “needs to be fixed”, like a shot or taking a pill will resolve her issue isn’t the best behavior. Onto the next behavior I am seeing. I am not a medical or psychiatric professional, but I do see some OCD tendencies, that match my actual diagnosed OCD. I have very complex health conditions and needs, from my complex medical issues, like Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, and other chronic conditions. I have had to make a plan, that stops me in my OCD spirals. Because my health is so complicated, I feel as though I need to know everything about the latest research, medications, procedures, practices, etc… My #1 rule is no Reddit. I completely deleted my account and I cannot be allowed to use that site safely, and keep myself from getting pulled into an OCD spiral. Also, I have to limit time on other similar places, like Facebook groups or other social media platforms, that contain a lot of information about my illnesses. It’s not because I don’t want to spread my own knowledge, but because my mental health can’t handle the amount of information being put out in a safe manner. If I start falling into my OCD spirals, I have signs and contingency plans, to pull myself out, and get me into a safer place, mentally. Third, and it’s been brought up, but Ginger needs a mental health therapist, with an emphasis and understanding of disordered eating habits and other addictive behavior tendencies. From what I am seeing and hearing, getting down those 20-30 lbs. isn’t going to be enough, and if for some reason, the weight loss is not going to be maintained, I can easily see that she could have major issues, mentally going forward. Weight will always ebb and flow depending on a lot of factors, and gaining 1-2 lbs throughout the day isn’t unheard of, based on fluid retention and other variables. The best thing I ever did was get on a scale, only at the doctors office or at one specific time, at a set interval, like once a week or once a month, depending on why I needed the information. Another note, stress levels can and do cause weight to fluctuate, and on overweight people, it tends to increase. Finding a way to reduce stress, find a support group or a group of people on a similar journey, and making sure that self care is a priority, can and do help with a healthy weight lifestyle. Finally, Ginger needs to stop criticizing her shortcomings. No one is perfect, and no one should act like they are. Needing to ask for help, be it from a doctor, therapist, nutritionist, chef, personal trainer, etc… doesn’t mean that you’re a failure or a bad person; it simply means that you don’t have enough time, energy, expertise, or other resource or skill to fill that specific need. It’s not bad to ask for help, but it doesn’t help you, at all, if you keep trying to pretend that you’re doing it all by yourself. It’s not a bad thing, or even a big deal, if you need help. It’s actually a sign of growth, and self awareness, when help is asked for. Stop demeaning yourself just because you didn’t meal prep for yourself, or didn’t have time to exercise yesterday. It’s okay to miss a workout or buy a meal prep, from someone else. If you’re really wanting to try a meal prep plan, can’t afford a pricey chef, try to find a local group of people looking for a similar meal prep plan. You could all go together and prep the meals as a group, or each bring a different dish, and swap them. Ginger could bring a healthier pasta meal, whereas Linda could bring a healthy Curry, and Mark could being a healthy spin on a Vegetable Beef Stew. Then, your only focus is one meal, your choices diversify, and you aren’t stuck with large amounts of a single meal. All you would need is to ask for help. I know it’s harder than it seems, but once you do, it’s hard to figure out why you didn’t ask sooner! Ginger, you’re not on the easiest of journeys. However, it’s something that can be done, especially if a couple of your outlooks would slightly change. We are all imperfect, and we all are on different paths of a similar journey. Instead of looking so broadly at the entire journey, I would try to break them down into smaller pieces, and have several small victories, leading up to the biggest one. I hope this finds you well, and that maybe a couple of tweaks, on your outlook, can set you up for the most successful journey.

I would say that slow and easy does it too, it took me over two years to lose 16 kilos (about 30 pounds). I did it with the help of metformine that controlled my insulin levels and a lot of walking. At this point it seems you are already active every day and it seems you need to tackle the food part consistently by eating balanced meals at home, cooking more and pre-planning your meals

@@melitapavlinic7302 I didn’t mention that I have GastroParesis(GP); that’s a complication of my Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. My biggest issue is getting my stomach to properly empty. The body’s natural reaction to food not passing, properly, through the stomach and small intestines, is to cause lots nausea and vomiting. Once my body starts that food rejection cycle, it often takes hours, and emergency medical intervention, to stop. Since I live with GP, and I can notice patterns, I have a minor case of Avoidant, Restrictive Food Intake Disorder(ARFID). Currently, I am very wary of foods with shells or casing, like corn peas, and most beans, because it’s hard to digest those casings. I work closely with a registered dietitian, and my vast medical team, to make sure my body is getting enough nutrients. I have recently added protein shakes, and meal replacement drinks, for days where I am unable to keep down solid foods. In the not so distant future, I will be needing major abdominal surgery, to assist my body, with my GP progression. When the time comes, the surgeon, with the rest of my medical team, will decide what is going to be best, and to safely execute that plan. Until I my GI tract needs that surgery, I rely, quite heavily, on IV fluids, with small amounts of added electrolytes. I have a port, and my medical team isn’t afraid to use it. I have a couple of medications I can use, if needed, when I can’t keep anything down, in a traditional way. My weight has been a direct result of my GP, and my body is storing away, for the next time I go into a bad GP time. I am under the care of amazing doctors, from several care institutions, including the closest medical university. When my body is functioning the best it can, I can drop 30-40 lbs. in about 4-6 weeks. My weight is only monitored, at a doctor’s office, and that to help us find patterns. When I start into a GP flare, I start gaining weight. Not only is my weight monitored, but blood is taken routinely, to make sure everything is as balanced and stable as possible. At the end of the day, right now I am getting over half of my daily calories from liquid, meal replacement drinks. I can’t really meal prep those; I can buy them, ready to go. I like to help others, if I can think of out of the box ideas. The meal prep group came from my local area. There were bariatric patients that came together, and they prepped one meal, divided it into several portions, and then, they would trade meals. I thought it was such a cool idea, when I heard about it. The rest are things that I have dealt with or been close to the person dealing with it.

Dr tried to refer me to Ozempic, I got on wellbutrin, aka the skinny antidepressant lol, and I am down over 11 pounds. Mind you its been almost a month but the weight is coming off well and my food noise, binging and food obsession are all gone. It is so freeing to do my daily life without obsessing over my next meal.

as someone who has never had to worry about my weight, who cares if it is or isn’t the easy way out. in fact if it is, that’s amazing! i don’t know enough about these drugs to say they are a miracle treatment or that they are being properly prescribed but if they are an effective and easier way for people to get to a healthy weight then that’s amazing.

I read that glp-1s can cause anxiety in people who have an increased amount of orexin neurons - sleep neurons related to the hormone that regulates hunger and sleep. And I’ve heard of other people on glp-1s experiencing unbearable anxiety and thoughts of unaliving. It’s sad to see doctors write this off.

I have been on ozempic for 6 months , after the injection for one to two days, I feel increased anxiety every week. So I think it's a side effect of the medication. Typically goes away and then comes back soon after the next injection.

So people take Naltrexone to help with drug/alcohol addiction, people use nicotine gum or patches for smoking, eating is the socially acceptable addiction but we are suppose to white knuckle it? If those of us that emotionally eat can use the help turning off the emotional cravings why not?

What i want to know is why is taking "the essy way out" so stigmatized itself? Weight loss is NEVER easy no matter how you slice it. If there was some new discovery (in a perfect world) where there was an easy way to lose weight, no side effects, improves (or doesnt effect) health, and is an ethical product/procedure being done with explicit informed consent... what does it matter if it is 'easy'? Do we need to punish ourselves for something largely out of our control (without help) like eating disorders, metabolic disorders, chronic illness etc. 'Weight loss journeys' always seem like some sort of weight stigma (fatphobic) religion... like you have to suffer and atone for your excess weight. Psh... okay Oprah 🙄 it isn't a competition...
@BlackJack-sx1jw

No, we don’t need to punish ourselves, but we sure the hell feel the need to punish others if they aren’t doing what we expect them to.

I have to take Trulicity for diabetes. I am not overweight but have lost about 7 pounds on it. I’ve been on it for three years. People don’t understand that the way you lose weight on it, is it makes you nauseated and unable to eat at times. You have to be very careful. I have debated coming off of it because I don’t like the side effects. It does control glucose levels well

I have opted to have bariatric surgery instead of taking ozempic which my family thought I was crazy to do because my brother took ozempic and got great results. I did not want to take ozempic because of having to take the medican for the rest of your life and I already take medication for other health issues. I suppose we do not know the long term effect and that makes me nervous. Also my brother has reached his goal weight 6 months ago and the last time I saw him he had put back on some weight. His doctor is trying to decrease his dose and he is finding it very difficult to keep the weight off. Dont get me wrong I know it will be hard having the surgery and I will always have to watch what I eat but I will only be taking multivitamins life long after the operation not mediaction that we do not know the long term effects of.

@@emmyjsy Thanks Emma for the warning. I have to have surgery due to a medical condition and the medication I have to take for it. Of course it is not all the meds fault I suffered from depression due to a trauma which a lot of counseling has helped. By the time I get to have the operation I will have been seeing a dietician for 10 months and will have done 10 months of registered exercise ( 3 sessions a week at the gym which has to be documented by the gym). Bariatric surgery is not an easy choice like some people think and I have done a load of research. I have met my surgeon twice and have asked all the questions and know the side effects. It will not be an easy journey after the surgery but I am prepared for that as best I can. I suppose this is my whole point there are many people before me who have had this operation and I know what to expect where as no one knows the long term effect of taking ozempic. Everyone has to do what they feel is best for them.

Im not sure ppl realize that you could be a happy weight, and still be unhappy or become unhappy with other things about your body. Im a good weight and can name 5 things right now I don’t like about my body. I think its best to celebrate the fact we have a body that gets us through our day and enables us to do what we want, we should feel blessed. Things could always be so much worse. Easy to say I know, but put things in perspective and celebrate what you have, because as you age it goes.

I think that if you are able to take the drug that’s great because obviously you needed to do something because other routes were not working . I definitely don’t think it’s an easy way out but it definitely is helpful. I had to lose 60lbs for health reasons and I can’t be approved for the drug , and it’s been really hard 😩 . I still have some weight to lose and I would have loved the extra help because food noise is not easy to deal with . So yes you still have to do their work but I think it’s ok to say that is has been a source of extra help .

That’s a bummer. When I am training for a lifting competition ( Olympic style weightlifting, although Ill never be an Olympian, I love the sport) and I simply cannot snarf down enough protein without being so full I want to cry, I order liquid protein shots that are made for bodybuilders and bariatric patients. They are around 120ml, so two big swallows and while they taste like fruit punch had a baby with pure hatred they help me get the proper amount of protein while I’m training up. I order them online. If you’re also having a hard time getting enough protein I would recommend trying them. Never found one that tasted good, but it’s two big gulps and it over. 47g of protein per 120ml shot.
