Big E, thanks for all the action in the 90s NHL, best years imo. The the best combination of mean and skills ever seen in the NHL. I learned to love the Flyers thanks to you. Im from Sweden

I think big e has some Swedish ancestry, if that’s true he’s a mix of the two best countries for hockey players , Canada and Sweden !!! I’ll draft a Canadian or a swede any day ! He was truly the best ever , I still have not seen anyone close to Mario lemieux and Eric lindros live that could completely dominate a game like they could !!! Both were literally unstoppable legally ,,,

5th fatest to 500 points all-time 19th best PPG avg all-time And he played in the neutral-zone trap, clutch and grab decade that kept points to a minimum. Imagine if Lindros played in the 1980s or in this current NHL period?

You're absolutely right. Recchi should easily be in the HOF. He was a winner in so many ways and on so many teams. I wish I could be a voter on the HOF board to right all the wrongs. But Lindros deserves to be in for sure. You can hate him for what he did to the Nordiques, but there's no denying his combination of talent, size, skill and accomplishments. HOF means you contributed to the game of hockey. And he did by inadvertently building a winner out of Colorado, but also the good times before he made headlines in the NHL (becoming the youngest to join Team Canada as a CHL player with the likes of Gretzky and Lemieux!). But yes..Recchi deserves to be in too no question.

Lindros was the most dominant player of the 90s. No other player had his accolades or talents. None. Name one that had EVERYTHING he had. And if you want to disagree with wayne gretzky on a 1996 interview stating lindros was the most dominant player of his time, your simply put, a joke.

I'm born in 1990, I was a Leafs fan as a kid. I especially remember the 1998-99 season when my Leafs beat the Flyers in the 1st round of the playoffs. We were lucky to get past the Flyers simply because this monstrous player was injured for the season after a game vs. Nashville earlier in the season. We would have had no one to matchup with the Big E. I'm sort of glad we don't see physical phenomenons like him much because it would just be too unfair. He's truly once in a century hockey body type. No doubt in my mind that Eric Lindros would dominate today's league, only a Seth Jones or Dustin Byfuglien could physically matchup with him, but Lindros has the speed and skill to overcome their size.
@NYFanatic
@NYFanatic 4 года назад
Just imagine if he was healthy. I hated him since I root for the Islanders, but given the fact that the defenses got tougher and the Devils had the trap style game going, he would've accomplished a lot more if the live puck era lasted another 10 years.
@steve5976

Greatest ever !! Mario lemieux and Eric lindros were the show . To this day I haven’t seen a player dominate an entire game like lemieux in 80s, and lindros in 90s, both were unstoppable legally. They would bear hug lemieux and grab him, lindros they just decapitated , both were absolutely the two most single handledly dominate for their eras , Penguins got lemieux some help eventually , with lindros he never had a number 1 defenseman and ZERO snipers and no goalie ,,,,lemieux had Kevin stevens as a power wing and lindros had leclair as a power wing ,,,both had recchi for a brief span ,,,,

The most complete and exciting power forward, which in my book means the greatest hockey player of all time. There will never have been a player of his caliber. Once in a human history kind of a player. He possessed no weaknesses, just a perfect, perfect player. No one was able to wake up a crowd in the NHL buildings the way my boy Eric could. He could not be stopped in a legitimate way, which meant that cowards led by a piece of garbage Scott Stevens had to use disgusting methods to accomplish so. On top of it all, The BigE wore no visor, which was something that I had always immensely admired about him. The good old times. The greatest hockey had been played in 1990's, when everything was rightfully allowed and excitement had never been bigger. Hard hitting, fighting, great rivalries, hardly any visors and the NHL' s maintenance and upholding all the rules, which made it the best League in the world, helped make it the fantastic product, it then was. It is all gone now.

Only difference being that Marino happened to have a very long career with the Dolphins while Lindros never had a fully healthy season in his career due to the front office and cheap shots by different players and you can add the medical staff which misdiagnosed him in 1998.

He had all of the talents that we like in Philadelphia and you will never get me to bad mouth Bobby Clarke because it’s against the law in the city limits of Philadelphia with a punishment of 3 years in jail and a felony on your record but having said that I believe Bobby Clarke was way to late on understanding that the dump and chase , physically overwhelming the other team , and scare tactics that worked when he was a player with a lot of success were being replaced with super fast highly skilled offensive minded players like the USSR produced all those years when they killed almost all their opponents. If they would of got some of those faster players that could put a lot of shots on goal I believe they would of won several cups and his career would of lasted another 5 years .

His resume is condensed and filled with gaps because of injuries. To compare him to a player such as a Steve Yzerman or others who avoided serious injury is irresponsible and not an accurate depiction. Eric Lindros, when healthy, and we know that's a big if, was one of the most dominant players in the history of the league. He single-handedly dominated during a time where players were not overly protected and shielded from physical play. There's only a few players who can compare to him.

Unique talent, and generational, sure. Entirely mismanaged by his parents and Bobby Clarke. Too bad he didn't just suck it up and play in Quebec. That the team was improving under Joe Sakic and Mats Sundin at the time. Who knows what trades or personal moves would have happened after, but controversy distracted him from hockey. If he just wouls have played with more on ice focus, he had the potential to be 10 ten all time, maybe even higher.

As a Quebec fan, and a fan of hockey in general, I do not think lindos should have made it in, citing his inability to keep his head up with the puck, which ultimately led to numerous concussions. I also think lindros should have been exempt from hall of fame consideration entirely because of his childish decision to not play in Quebec. Ultimately just not a good player to have in the hall of fame while there are many more players with better talent, along with pride to play on whichever team they had to play on.

Ryan Babal Quebec was a dumpster fire of a franchise! It was a lemonade stand at best. Y the time Lindros was to be drafted! They were going to use him as a piece to sell the franchise. Maybe your to young to remember this franchise hemorrhaging money. Trading Mats Sundin another hall of famer! But as in your case sheep usually don't look into fact checking they usually just follow the herd.

Lindros gets in the HOF based more on hype than actual accomplishments... Recchi deserved to be in there long before him IMO. When Lindros was at the top of his game he was a beast, he was pretty special. I get that. But, his peak wasn't really that high, (no cup, no outstanding playoffs, no 100point seasons, no 50 goal seasons. ) And his peak wasn't very long either. He literally fell off the face of the earth.... Orr, Bossy, those guys were friggen legends for 10 years before the wheels came off. Kevin Stevens played like a HOF'er for a good 4+ years. Even set a record for most points by a left wing in a season.. Had better playoffs than Lindros by far, won cups.... Then fell off the face of the earth.. Lindros is closer to Stevens than Lemieux, Orr, Bossy or a guy like Dryden for that matter. Lindros is in the HOF based on what he could've done, NOT on what he actually did.. Hype...
@MMGJ10

If Lebron James didn't win any championships, or hit only 28 pts per season instead of 30, but still dominated the rim and still led his team to the NBA Finals 6 times, but then his career was cut short because of a Concussion....would you still consider him a Hall of Fame player? Imagine what I said earlier, ... then add to that Lebron was the most hyped high school player...DOMINATED high school competition...then was asked to join the Olympic Basketball team as a High schooler with the likes of Jordan, Magic and Pippen...but yet his career was cut short and still didn't win any championships..would you still call Lebron a HOFer? That's essentially what Lindros was...the Lebron James of the NHL...a genetic freak that married size, skill, and nastiness and smarts all in one package. He had the body of a truck and size of Lemieux..but Lemieux was NOT a mean hitting machine. He had hands of a small guy...maybe not Gretzky like..but Sundin like. He outscored players of his generation and 4th fastest to reach 400 pts. That's pretty HOF to me. He's a no doubter.
