Wait! So it IS going to be the total receipt cost? I recently bought a lower and missed the cut off. They couldn't even charge me the 11% bc they didn't know how it would be implemented. They didn't know if the 11% was on the firearm, the gun + DROS, OR the whole transaction. If it's the whole transaction, then the sales tax will be included in the 11%. Which mean they are literally taxing a tax. I don't see how that's legal in any sort of free society.

Sportsman warehouse has a sale of 11% off their regularly priced firearms and ammo for a couple weeks to show support for customers in CA. I hope we can get this tax repealed, but honestly I appreciate that sort of move by a company.

Wait - that 11% is on top of the TOTAL amount??!!! So the state is putting a tax on top of all other taxes they are already collecting??!!! WTF!!!

We're in Bala Cynwyd Pennsylvania here and we have two local 2A rights lawsuits as an FFL. One is sponsored by SAF and the other is by our local 2A civil rights group, Firearms Owners Against Crime (FOAC) and I am extending my prayers and respect. Matching donations is a big deal and I thank you. People need to recognize that the best way to advance our right is to support your LOCAL 2A group because they are going to have the best ability to network with plaintiffs who have standing and local attorneys. They are also by nature of being local better received to the general population because they can't be painted as an outsider boogeyman.

The Frustrating thing is that Lawsuits are always Flying against this Law or that One and even when we get a Win Nothing Changes because of the 9th Circuit basically being in the State's Pocket.

Just build your own guns, in California you can build any gun you want so long as it follows state regulations. You can also make as much ammo as you want at home and they can’t do anything about it

If you don’t have ffl 03. Order from places that don’t send a receipt with the order. The ffl can’t collect 11% if they don’t know the cost.

They just keep raising taxes/fees and require all the permits/ licenses to allow you to do anything here. Eventually they’ll make everything illegal. My damn truck registration is ridiculous. EV registration is even worse and they’re trying to make those a requirement. Taxed on top of tax.

Reno a media guy recently tried to buy some range ammo in a Bay Area store and was denied due to the background check showing his current address not matching his address of the time of the purchased his gun, was that a screw up or is that the states policy?

There was a suit filed somewhere recently, DC I think, that indicated to me, that the 11% tax should be considered a poll tax, not an excise tax. Poll taxes are not legal.

ACLU should get invoivled. The state is basically preventing people that are not well off or have extra income to afford a fundemental consitutional right to own and posses a firearm for means of self-defense. They should help step in as well.

Not on the gun issue but the whole taxing structure in the federal, state, city and local system is to drain you of all the monies that you make. Tax deferred income in an offshore account is the only way, but it is not available to us peons of the lower or middle class.
