Billy was born and raised in my hometown his family live around the corner from me. My kids went to school with him. The old man in the video is Mr. James Day he was all of us teenagers neighborhood dad He passed away a few years ago.

I used to own a tattoo shop and we had an old man that would come down every day and sit and talk about everything. He'd bring whiskey and we'd do some shots after close. When he died, a piece of our shop went with him. R.I.P. Grandpa Gary.

People get so busy in their lives they loose sight of what and who is important, especially for the elderly. It means more than you know just spend a little time and lend an ear to someone who may feel forgotten or neglected by those they care about the most.

Billy Currington's "People Are Crazy" was written by Troy Jones and Bobby Braddock. Troy was in Alabama and decided to take a little ride in the country. I was trying to think of three things you can't argue with, and I came up with "God is great; beer is good; people are crazy." I went back to the house, got my guitar and ended up writing several lines that wound up being the first verse of the song. I knew I had my first writing session with Bobby that next week, so I held onto the lyrics and melody to play it for him. I was a little nervous to write with him, because he's such a legendary songwriter. I played him what I had, and he said, "Man, I love it." It was Bobby's idea to make the guy rich and leave all his money to the kid he's talking to in the song instead of his own kids. I wasn't too sure about that idea, but I figured if you can't trust Bobby with your song, who can you trust?

You are impacting people. I’m one of those. I’ve been battling major depression for the last 6 months and today I’m finally having a good day. This video put a smile on my face and really eased my pain and made me forget for the time being. I love yalls reactions. I just want you to know that you both are helping individuals like me.

That is so true Mel, you never no what a kind word will do and how it can change someones life for the better. True story, when I was 37, I was in the hospital on the one year anniversary, of my mothers death. I was in serious condition and suffering from the same illness that she passed away from. In the middle of the night I woke up in tears and was just miserable. The sweet old lady in the next bed over sat up and talked and comforted me all night, telling me many stories of her own life. Her name was Rose and we only had that one conversation, but it has stayed with me all my life. Billy Currington has many great songs, it would be a fun rabbit hole. He is from a little town not far from where we live, he is a big star in the area. As you drive into town they have a sign up that says "Home to Billy Currington" on the highway! :)

Thanks for reacting to this song. I live down the road from Nashville and love REAL country music. This is one of only a few songs made in the last twenty years that I love. I'm not crazy about a lot of the so called country singers of the past twenty years but this guy is one of the good ones. This song has old country class.

I knew a guy who was well off with over a 100 acres and several cars and a house. When he died he left it to the conservation office to be auctioned off and the money given to them. He didn’t give his kids a dime of it bc they never had anything to do with him. It’s kind of like the movie grand torino

I like to think that the old man's kids didn't really talk to him or visit. Billy spent the afternoon just talking with him. Sharing stories and the old man learned the younger one was how he wished his kids had turned out

The old man in the video was Mr. Day. His best friends dad. Jamie and Greg Day. He has passed since this video. They own Day Roofing in Pooler, Ga. I've played music with Billy and Greg in Savannah, Ga. On River Street as well.
