I’m happy I had the opportunity to team up with ONE Championship to share the story of its founder, Chatri Sityodtong.
ONE Championship just held its first event in America, but not many people know the fascinating story behind the martial arts promotion and its creator.
Chatri's journey began with a tough childhood, facing the challenges brought on by the Asian financial crisis. Despite these difficulties, he worked hard to get an education at Harvard and found success in Silicon Valley and Wall Street.
Starting ONE Championship from scratch wasn't easy, but Chatri faced every struggle with determination. Today, his company is competing directly with the UFC and features highly skilled fighters like Demetrious Johnson, Rodtang Jitmuangnon, Angela Lee, Stamp Fairtex, and Adriano Moraes. #onechampionship #chatrisityodtong

Chatri is a guy who really saw problems in Muay Thai especially how fighters are still poor even with 200-300 fights in their careers, and fixed it. Now Muay Thai is on another level that Thai people wouldn't have thought before. He really changed lots of people's life, lots of respect for the guy.

ONE Championship totally won attention over UFC. In Facebook alone, ONE shows FREE fight videos. These are usually short fights or highlights of their longer fights. All for free. They're promoting their fighters by showcasing their life, not the drama they cause. The fighters themselves are very respectfully towards each other. No drama, no trashtalking, just pure skill and respect. I am rooting for ONE Championship's continued success!

Not trying to argue which organization is better, but UFC have a channel on RU-vid where they regularly upload full fights for free, I don't think either ONE or UFC do it out of the kindness of their hearts, it's to promote their live events to gain higher revenues, essentially you are just describing a form of advertising they both do. As far as the drama and trash talking goes, it's a personal preference I think. I myself enjoy a little back and forth between the fighters before they fight, especially when one of them is a jerk then get's destroyed. I love to see good fights but I don't watch MMA to know who the greatest and most respectable fighter is, I watch it to be entertained.

What do you want to see instead? Press conferences, where fighters assure each other how much respect they have all the time? Well, that sounds riveting! If you don't care for the drama anyway, then just watch the fights. Avoiding press conferences is the easiest thing for any MMA fan. That's what I do. Just skip forwards to the fights and ignore everything else. Easy.

What an inspiring story. I started watching ONE when Mighty Mouse got traded from the UFC and I have been very impressed with their promotion. One thing I've never liked about the UFC is how Dana and the organization treats their fighters. It's all about generating pay-per-views by promoting toxic personalities and then throwing away fighters when they don't get with the program. It's refreshing to see the direction that ONE Championship is taking the fight game.

I doubt that the story is 100% accurate, but regardless, ONE is attracting top talent from around the world for a reason. Many fighters have chosen to sign with ONE instead of UFC because they said ONE made them a better deal and treated them with respect during the negotiations, which has to count for something. As far as the toxicity and American culture, yeah there's a lot of A-holes who like the drama, but I'd say there's as many or more who want to see fighters treated well, get paid more, and want to see good sportsmanship and character both in and out of the ring. But I'm just a stupid American, what do I know?

I've been following the ONE series of fights since Amazon picked it up, and as a practitioner of martial arts myself, and adopting it as a way of life, Chatri's vision has appealed to me since the first ONE fight night I watched. After seeing this, and hearing his story, my respect for him has greatly deepened. His desire to bring heroes into the light and change the lives of talented (and previously impoverished) fighters is indeed bringing change and value to the world. To lose everything from a good life to destitute that quickly is awful. I can't imagine the guilt trip he must've gone through during and after leaving his family. I give Chatri a ton of credit and I probably wouldn't even believe most of this if he was the only one saying it. It's highly sus to go from average to poor student in middle and HS and then some bridge college to Harvard Business School. The fact that he allowed his mom to live with him in his dorm and he was always looking at for her speaks volumes of his character. Just really odd how he started out as such an underachiever then suddenly is the most overachieving azn ever.

My father had to work for the family since very young, 14-15 years old, left high school to fend for his family during the Vietnam war.
