Nah gloss looks really good until it doesn't. Every tire line turns gloss into a matte finish. A wise man would start out with a matte finish if it's going to end up a matte finish.
Gloss has more depth and looks better , maintenance wise probably more costly. Matte finish I feel will dull faster with scratching and need to be re coated anyway. Idk . Depends on how the garage will be used also. For Show cars or will it be used like a normal heavy use , salt from winter, in and out daily kinda thing.
The gloss finish is amazing! However, because of how the garage looks with the wood and stone, the matte finish actually blends in better without taking away from the rest of the garage. Great job!
I've been doing epoxy floors for almost 30 years, the problem with smooth high gloss finishes is they tend to scratch more easily, especially in higher traffic areas that will be exposed to dirt and debris, that's why a good urethane top coat will extend the life of the floor. A high gloss urethane top coat is usually a big improvement, but it will also eventually show scratches. If you want the highest scratch resistance and durability then a matte finish urethane is the way to go. It can extend the life of your floor by years.
@@midtown3221I assume because tiny scratches and dents won't ruin the look of a matte coating as easily as a glossy one meaning you don't have to be as careful around it. Also, dust is easier to see on gloss finishes.
I think both looks freaking awesome! I myself would probably like the shiny look but, seeing the matte look go against the wood and stones, the matte looks to be the perfect match for that project. Excellent job as usual.
For the vibe and aesthetic that guy was going for with his house the matte is sweet. The glossy gives it more of a modern vibe. The log cabin rustic looks good with the matte 💪🏻
The matte looks more natural,....but that gloss is the most beautiful floor I've ever seen in any garage. Just incredible work guys. I can't imagine seeing that gloss version and saying,..."Ehhh,....let's go with a matte finish" without knowing how it will look or even compare to the gloss. Either way???? Mad respect.
I have a huge Porte Cochere connected to the front of my house I’m going to find a contractor to do this for me. I hope I can find someone as great at it as you Are!!! Thank you for sharing all of your Amazing work!!!
As someone who has a very similar floor (but with blues, pearls silvers and blacks), glossy is harder to maintain. Tire scrub wears the gloss to a satin over time, requiring buffing to offset.
If I had to “Work” in the garage any extended length of time, the Matte finish is what I would way prefer. Matte doesn’t let the Light bounce around the room and made it difficult on your eyes over time. With Gloss, there is too much going on at the same time. Reflections bouncing all around. The Matte is easier on the senses and I think work relaxing to work in. Both are really beautiful ✨ I appreciate all the work ❤️
I loved the gloss look but did notice that with the matte finish, there was less glare and reflection of the lights on the floor. I have concrete floor in our downstairs room and was wanting to do that exact same thing with 3 colors! Had not thought of the metallic colors tho. Hmm...decisions, decisions
Thanks! I’m not sure which I like better either. I was surprised at how the matte completely changed the look of the whole project. I don’t remember exactly what we charged… but it’s usually in the $10-$12ft range.
You guys are true artists. The way the color blending was done was absolutely beautiful - some of the best epoxy effects I’ve seen on RU-vid. Congratulations on your exceptional skill and technique!!!
Absolutely love the metallic bronze/brownish color!! So done with grey and silver! This added some custom warmth and life to the floor!! Great job! God bless!😊
Both unbelievable finishes. Great job but for that house the colours and finish has been well thought out. Gloss with modern rooms Matte with the heritage theme.
RE: Finish. imho, it depends on the purpose of the space. If I was really going to use that garage to store my toys, motorcycles, bicycles, surf boards, etc, then I would go with the matte. If I was just storing a luxury car(s), or something that doesn't really get used, then I would go with the gloss. I do think the matte compliments the stone better, but of course, the gloss is super luxurious. Both looked amazing! Great job.
Personally, I like the high gloss finish better. I tend to like vivid colors 👍 But I really like the color combination in both the gloss and Matt finish. Again for me the gloss is the winner. Of course pleasing customers is priority number one ☝️ Awesome video!
Job looks outstanding!! I can totally see why they wanted Matte because of the natural stone on the wall matches the look better. Glossy also has a place and looks great too!! Amazing job to you and the team. Do you have any friends in North Carolina Triangle Area that can do amazing work like you guys by chance??
Thank you! We work down that way on some projects. Fill out this form and I can let you know if we might be a good fit. www.decorativeconcreteofvirginia.com/contact-us
The Satin compliments the rest of the garage. The shiny could be irritating if any marks are on it. Shiny I feel like is more for restroom, closets, ect.
Wow! This is something that I have wanted done in my garage/man cave for a long time and to see professionals make it look so easy with an outstanding finished product… I’m in Kansas really curious to how much this would cost for a two car garage… I’am ready…
I love the gloss. These guys are total pros. We just epoxies our garages with topped with sprinkles. Wonder what the cost difference would have been? So creative and beautiful!!
The matte finish matches the stone veneer on the walls also I forget what it’s called but there is this stuff you can spray on the floor to bring it back into the redcoat window they use it in painting cars instead of sanding the next
👍🏻👍🏻 That’s cool… I don’t mind sanding it because it gets a lot of the imperfections in the texture of the floor out. It would be nice to not have to do it though.
Great video! I’ve watched a few of them now and you guys do nice work. Excellent way to communicate information to clients; so, we’ll done! Personally, I almost always prefer a lower gloss. It hides a lot, requires less maintenance, and appears more natural than an obvious high build of resin.
Definitely like the high gloss better, but to each is own. Did the client love the matte urethane finish ? That house looks sweet also, right on the water, should of got some drone shots 😉 great floor, awesome video as always guys..
Thanks Nathan! Client loved the matte. The house is great. Lots of custom finishes.. nicest property on Smith Mountain Lake that we’ve worked on. I don’t have a drone anymore. One too many crashes. 😬
the matte finish is honestly the best look for that specific application/house. that was beautiful... in all honesty - both of those applications were just stunning... but went with matte something about that and the wood - just work together naturally.
There’s a place for each and this was definitely a place for matte. Gloss is for flashy pimpadelic Quagmire places with wet bars, ceiling mirrors, and rotating waterbeds.
I like the gloss a tiny bit more since it has such a clean feel. But if left glossy how slick does this stuff get if you were to park your car after the rain and get out on a wet surface?
bro thats a piece of art... iam trying to do the same in my reception or living room in cairo,Egypt but afraid of ruining or fu**** it upcoz no.1 is known or done that before as far as i know
It’s all personal preference, but personally, I think he made a good choice with his stone and his style of what he prefers. I think they both have a beautiful look to them, depending on what you were trying to accomplish with your surroundings.
at first i was amazed at how it turned out and looked like the floor was more luxurious than you did that last step and to me it didn't look so good no more but when doing a job it's not what you want it's what the customer wants but I wish he would have let you guys left it the way it was at first but all-n-all you guys did a wonderful job 💯🔥
I like the matte finish. It looks more like the floor would eventually look anyway. The gloss looks great new, before it's ever used and daily life takes hold.
I like the gloss better your work is amazing I've been trying for a couple of years to learn how to do that I will most definitely continue to watch your tutorials God bless U-Both for the hard work you put in
I’ve never been big on high gloss but on this one I would have stuck with the gloss or only gone to a Satin and not a matte. The gloss definitely looks better!
hi, Tim...awesome job...i like both, the matt finish looks more unified with the stone deco wall, but i also like the gloss finish because it gives a height illusion to the garage, it just looks better, the garage must have been 2/3rds bigger for the cars to be reflected on the gloss epoxy...the lighting is also enhanced due to reflectivity on the gloss finish...but cars being there, if the cars or people come in from a rainy day that garage floor is going to be a slip and fall hazard, that gives the matt finish a better practicality, they score the same points, you can always put non slip carpets on both the gloss and matt...i think it is a stunning job you guys have done here...
I think the gloss looks better, however a lot of people aren’t thinking years in the future after lots of wear and tear, glossy will start to look worn and scratched in high traffic spots, which will be highly visible contrasted to the less worn glossy spots. Matte finishes are a lot stronger and will show wear and tear MUCH less. Matte is the long term winner in my book.
This is awesome and I appreciate you! I DEFINITELY liked the more shiny bowling ball on the right, and cannot believe that they preferred you to put a matte coat, but to each his own, right? Great job!
We just did the same colors out here near San Francisco. We of course did keep it high gloss. Customers loved it. Wanted to add a photo but RU-vid wouldn’t let me .
I was not paying attention then I caught the lighting in the running chair rail/edge molding and was like...'Ohh...thats nice with that floor!' The gloss is for the Win...but its really whatever the client wants and is satisfied with.
The matte will also be much safer did our front show room and LOVED the glossy but super super slippery and I’m sure that’s what these folks are thinking as well.
