@@themountainbloke Me, too. Guy who got one in what amounted to the lottery backed out at the last second, and I jumped on it. But I’m no rich collector. She’s for riding. How about that 007 welcome intro on the screen?
@@williambutler3630 The 007 loading screen is great 👍🏾 I watch it about 80 percent of the time, the other times I just cut it short and start the bike haha. I got it off it’s first owner at only 600 miles on it. He felt it was too short and heavy for him so getting it in and out of his garage was too annoying and he wanted to get another rare retro bike. I saw it at my dealership one day and simply asked for the owner’s phone number and he was willing to sell. Just pure luck.
I love love love my naked sport/adv touring Scarmabler XE. I’m glad peeps like yourself is recognizing this bike. I wouldn’t be surprised if you pull the trigger on this puppy and sell the good ol’ Desert Sled, because as fun/interesting that bike is. It lacks some creature comforts that this Triumph provides at least to my eye. P.S. these 2022+ euro 5 models is a slip-on exhaust away from de-catting the bike. Hence eliminates a good amount of heat on your legs. I’m a fan of the Arrow exhaust with baffles in from the Triumph accessory catalogue. It’s a classic Arrow signature snark, yet comfortably livable on long distance tours!❤
A buddy of mine ownes one and he loves it. I asked why I never see him riding it and he said it’s because it’s too hot in the summer. It summer 90% of the time in the south. Well, I guess he love looking at it.
Had a 1200 thruxton as a loan bike while my tiger 1200 was getting serviced a few years ago now, that bike was so much fun. Engine was absolutely great up to around 100mph which is all you need and its got plenty of torque
Hey Yam, I have XC version & love it! Pro Tip: you can change modes with the mode button on left handle bar w/o having to navigate through the menu button. You can also change modes on the fly if the throttle is closed w/exception of off-road modes.
I rode a Speed Twin about 4 years back with the 1200 in it and just loved the motor so when I found a used 1200 Scrambler XE Showcase Edition, used with 4.5 k miles, around 12k, I bought it. It’s the most fun bike I’ve owned. Simply a joy to ride, head turner, torque monster. The motor just comes alive from 3,500-5,000 rpm’s and stretches your arms. It came with Arrow exhaust and has a beautiful note. It’s everything a motorcycle should be: Fast, sexy, dangerous, fun and a bit loud. Get one!!!
I owned a street scrambler for a couple years. I loved it and you can leave the gas cap in the unlocked position which makes it much easier when refueling because you don’t need to use your key every time. Im not certain but i bet you can do the same thing on this bike as well.
How was that trip? Considering trading up to the XE and will do everything from commuting to long trips. Just came back from a 2000 km trip in Norway on my Trident 660. It worked okay despite too tall for it. People say I shouldnt get the scrambler because it isn't optimal for long trips - but I think I'll be fine lol
@@jsaykayits all subjective but I belong to masochists that love the feel of naked bike so I didn’t mind the wind blow. It feels totally comfortable at 110 km/h, cruise control allows you to relax and just meditate during long straight parts. If you can bare with this kind of cruising speed, it is a blast. We have done 3500km in 7 days and I would go further if only had time. The seat could be better but at those speeds you allow yourself to stand frequently which, for me, solves the problem. Engine capacity makes riding in any rev range effortless, which I find very important on long trips. If you have any particular questions, don’t hesitate. I ride the XC version. Done Stella del’assietta off road in the alps without any issue. By the way I’m making a movie from the trip, a trailer is already available on my channel ;)
@@jsaykay You’ll be fine if you feel it’s your thing. This year I’ve done 3500km in 7 days, with some off-road and had a blast (trailer on my channel btw). I recommend a leather jacket for aerodynamic ergonomy, and if you’re fan of naked bikes like I am, you can live comfortably with cruising speeds up to 110 km/h, especially with cruise control. Standing once in a while helps with butt soreness. Engine capacity makes riding in any rev range so effortless and fun. I’ve owned and traveled on many different motorcycles and this just touches my soul. Love it 👌🏻

@@MotoPolusthanks for your reply! Appreciate your answer 🙏 I was looking at alternatives for a while, as people suggested something else but nah, I just enjoy everything about this bike (apart from the heat but think I've found a solution for that). Had another test ride yesterday on the XE.. and I just can't choose anything else, love this bike!!
I got to ride the Scrambler 1200XE at IMS in 2021. Triumph was doing self guided demos. I must have rode that thing at least 7 or 8 times, even with the tons of other bikes there to ride. It really is a phenomenal motorcycle that I plan to own at some point.
One of my all time favourite bikes, aiming to get one to add to the stable when I can. Just keep an eye on the frame around the sidestand as it seems that a few people have experienced cracking there. I suggest that you do not mount cowboy style whilst on the sidestand.
I have the 1200XC gold line edition. I have three other motorcycles right now and they are all for sale. This is my forever bike. It does everything that want, and does it well, and I’m usually grinning like a Cheshire Cat as soon as I let the clutch out. I’ve taken it off road-nothing too serious, and there is still more bike there than there is talent between the handlebar and the seat. My only gripe is the part that attracted me in the first place, that high pipe gets a tad warm….. and by a tad, I mean badword hot at times.
Purrrfect engine. Triumph have a way of making all the components melt together and work effortlessly, and it starts with that torquey engine. It sounded beautiful as well, I always said all bikes should have no more than two cylinders. Saying that their triples are something else in terms of power and delivery, but as a fun bike they've nailed it with this setup. For really big distances the Tiger range works so well, with a lack of nervousness that you get with the V4 Multistrada, sorry Ducati.
Can we get a 390 adventure review please?? Maybe even a shootout between the 390 duke and the 390 adventure?? That would be an incredibly helpful video
The only thing I don't like about this bike is the exhaust pipe. Is just that I like when it goes around the body frame and not in a straight line from the engine to the tail. Other than that, the bike is great 👍
Yammie's boxes are in alignment with mine in this video. I could tell I would like this bike by 11:30. Actually, I knew I would like it after the HP/Torque ratio debriefing. 🙂
Thanks for an informative review. It helped a lot in making my decision to get one of these bikes. I have my new XE on order, and should be taking delivery in about one month. Rock On
There’s a brand new XE model 22 at the local triumph dealer. They dropped the price to 12k and are offering 1.99% on it… it’s getting real hard to say no to that
I've got the 22 XC, and it is such a great ride. Always smiling on this thing. All torque, but so smooth. And I agree, that joystick & mode selection is a pain.
I like the scrambler style but because of the weight I think I'd chose the new 400 over the much heavier twins. The Fantic Caballero 700 (Yamaha CP2 engine, around 400lbs wet weight, 150mm Marzocchi suspension, and Brembo brakes) would perfectly satisfy my scrambler wants/needs but it unfortunately is currently forbidden fruit for the US market!
I love the look of these bikes. I own a scrambler by a company called AJS if you’ve heard of Mike Jackson you’ll know about AJS. Mines only a 125 because of uk laws. Hands down the nicest bike I’ve ridden compared to other 125s can’t beat the torque of a scrambler
I am into scramblers and the retro look so I do like this bike and enjoyed the review though I hate the keyless start and the electronics package nevertheless I think that there is one among those three triumphs that has fewer electronics anyway I think that you should try the other 2 as well.
I don't disagree about the windshield long distance comments, however if you lived in Wisconsin and its 45degrees in October your opinion might change.😅
The xc is off road worthy compared to any other scrambler and much more capable of road than 95% of them. The xe is EXCESSIVE unless you bought a hardcore off road tourer
my only problem with this is that much like most 'scramblers' today, it is not a darned scrambler FGS!. Its a bonneville street bike made to look like a scrambler with lots of things a scrambler shouldnt have I have been riding bikes for 48 years and began with amateur motocross age ten, and had a real scrambler, as in the seventies and eighties, scramblers were real. A scrambler has 1. no odometer, 2. no mirrors, 3. no turn signals, 4, no 100 cc as not needed, 450 is about as much as you need for scrambling, 5. DEFINITELY no ABS, as you cannot scramble with ABS. This is not a scrambler, it is a raped bonnevile. Triumph should stick to classic bikes and forget this crap. Try a Ducati scrambler at least they are shaped like a scrambler. Millenials dont know what a scrambler is
Overall it looks like a very very "capable" bike, that's the word for me. Long highways? Capable for sure. Twistier bits? Sure, more than capable. Some off-road? Sure bro, capable too. City streets and parking lot stuffs? Sure thing is capable of. Like the true meaning of a Naked bike, overall capable of almost anything.
I bought a 2019 Showcase Edition used one with 4.5k on it for $12k. Great buy and absolutely love it!! Don’t think I’ll ever sell it because it’s so fricking fun every ride!!
Are you planning on checking out the new Street Triple 765 RS too? From what I’ve seen it’s the new king of middle weight naked bikes. And the cosmic yellow color is something else
That's unusual because rider modes on some other Triumph models can be changed while riding ... select the new mode, throttle off & pull in the clutch and it changes.
yappy noob... ya can't just not ride off road any more. there are always times where you can't not ride off road... like when somrone says to you. "here take this scrambler motorsickle here, and ride it like it's sposed to be rided!" this, is one of those times where you must, MUST ride it off road! enjoy yammie! enjoy!
I'm absolutely obsessed with these Scramblers and want to get one. It would be my first bike and I am new to riding. I'm 6'5 so the seat height of these makes them even more appealing for me. I'm just curious if you think at 1200 is too risky for a new rider. I'm 32, so not looking to go fast and rip wheelies, so I like to think I could handle it. What are your thoughts? Would also pick up a pre owned one because I don't want to spend all the money on the newest model for a first bike.
I have a theory about not being able to change road modes on the fly. It all comes down to the designer's choice of action movies. Do they like easy going fast action or more intense full action movies. Just picture any of these bikes in the next action movie and see what scene of suspense the bike adds to.
We have a pair of 2023s. We installed lowering springs - adds cushion and better suspension for off road. The mode shifting can be done on the fly except for the off road and off road pro which have to be at a full stop because of the ABS and traction control. The tilting display is great for off road.
I think if Triumph were to put on the duel clocks off the Thruxton with actual key, then it would be right mechanically. That is my favorite tank from the modern classics "not a fan of pinch welds. The electronic implementation is Triumph's biggest fail. People don't spend that kind of money to be nannied by stupid.)
Forst of all kudos to you for your vids. Question: since I'd like to buy a scrambler for daily commute, road rides and occasional mild offroad and I'm pretty undecided between this one and your own Desert Sled, could you please help me with my choice by tellin more? Thanks, dude.
I have the Steve McQueen bike and love it. You’re correct on the single track, just too heavy but that dog will eat in any other dirt. Stopped off reading with though because it’s just too nice too nice to drop. Agree with you on the wind but I added a Dart small screen just to keep the bugs out of all the wiring under the speedo. Had the service this week and the tech wouldn’t stop raving about this bike. First one he had rode and loved it.
I bought a 2023 and it has been in the shop with some type of electrical issue for 3 months. It doesnt look like they are gonna figure it out anytime soon either.
