Any performance company looking to get into the RU-vid space should really take note on the format that Cameron has done here. I want this same video, but with multiple combinations of components. Wonderfully done is an understatement, love it!
I like the burbles or pop & bangs a lot more with this setup. They´re more relaxing instead of loud and abnoxious. I still prefer the aftermarket exhaust from Unitronic but i would not use the pop & bangs or burbles.
This may just be the perfect setup for someone like me. Older (40's) professional that doesn't want to piss off the neighbors, but also still wants my GTI to sound a bit like my Dad's MK1 that I fell in love with when he worked at VW Westmoreland.
I run a 3” catless downpipe with an exhaust cutout welded into it, and the rest of the exhaust is OEM. I get the sweet sound of the downpipe when the exhaust cutout is closed, and when the exhaust cutout is open, it gives a sound that no catback exhaust for this car will ever give you. With the exhaust bouncing off the ground where I have my exhaust cutout located... sweet sweet sounds.
Got my Uni downpipe on a few months ago, taking the family on vacay next week and SECRETLY getting this exact tune setup🤫🤣 Can't wait, thank you for this upload!
Thanks for this video. I am very interested in going stage 2 in my 2019 GTI, but I still want it to be a chill daily driver when necessary. Keep up the cool content!
I ran this set up when I first got my downpipe and I wanted a little more noise w/o being super obnoxious. I think the perfect sound w/o breaking the bank is a res-delete, catted downpipe and stock muffler. The only bad thing is that you have to lug the big “suitcase” of a muffler around lol.
i got a very similar setup on my 1.8tsi mk7 golf. it has a catless milltek downpipe with an oem gti catback, and it sounds just like this but a little bit louder in the top end, plus it retains those crispy upshifts.
Thank you for posting. This is exactly what I’m going to do. I’d prolly go with the xforce downpipe for its a little cheaper than unitronic. I appreciate you man!
I just recently installed the club sport s axel back with the oe resonator and a cat-less down-pipe and the sound is perfect, it can still be quiet but is plenty noisy when you get on it
For me this is the best sound and performance on my GTI. CTS DP with Vibrant resonator to stock exhaust muffler. I also added ECS tips. Cut off stock tips. Nice deep exhaust note!
Just put my stock catback back on with the cts catted downpipe. Sounds so much more controlled and pure, without being annoying at all. I actually hear more of the engine tone now.
That’s exactly how I have it for the time being! Still debating on what catback I want tho, great video btw! I’ve seen your videos before but you caught my attention when you got the GTI! Keep up the great work.
been following you since the mazda days , finnaly bought a golf tsi . i live miles from unitronic in quebec ,canada . gonna get a tune soon after i add fmic and downpipe
Highly recommend to go for the GTI Clubsport S (fully OEM, special GTI edition) exhaust, the sound is so much better and the tips are larger, fitting your rear diffusor much nicer..
@@valoisfn9344 a VW dealer, but there are some places online that sell it. It’s either the Clubsport or the TCR exhaust depending on the model year you have
I would love to know how your lift is holding being exposed to the elements. I've got to add a second lift to my home set up and I was considering adding my Rotary outside. Any advice?
I’m late here. Love your setup. I’m currently apr stage 1, I have an agency power cai, Ecs tuning turbo inlet, Ecs tuning muffler delete which has quieted down over time and actually sounds really nice. Next mods will be going to a unitronic stage 2 tune and a downpipe and then an intercooler. Also plan on doing the dogbone mount which I saw u also had a video on 👍 have the vibrations from the mount reduced over time?
I have a MK6, I bought it new back in 2011.I'm thinking of doing a ECU tune + maybe a catted down pipe. I'm one of the older guys you talk about not wanting it to be overly loud on the highway. If you were me what set up (Downpipe or what have you) plus ECU tune would you go with? Thanks for any input you might have.
This is why I like Miltek idea of putting 2.76” exhaust on the kit I want to buy. Seems to be the best diameter exhaust providing great low end torque along with good high end power.
3 inch or bigger all the way would still be better, it will be louder but an extra muffler will easily solve that issue like a vibrant straight through type muffler
I’m running Full apr intake, ecs diverter valve spacer, CTS downpipe with high flow cat with the stock catback and I love how it sounds. Currently tuned with EQT and the burbles are nice, not super loud but if you rev it out or rev match it gets loud and sounds perfect. IMO better to save 800$ish dollars and put it towards a intercooler.
Thanks for the videos !! I looking just noise in my gti mk7 2015 can you tell me the best way to find something nice please 🙏 I have the Apr intake ✅ what else is better *exhaust ? *downpipe? *sport muffler ? *catback
I'm new to the GTI scene. (off-topic) What are your wheel make, tire, and suspension set up on this car, please? I like the full exhaust set-up. Mine is a manual, but if there is a next time, I may go auto.
If you want a good sounding system you want a trackslag Uk 4” downpipe from Uk company the design and welds are insane and it uses an Oem flexi pipe rather than the stiff uprated ones. Then you want to add a cobra Uk catback resonated system offers the best flow and sound
I run an aftermarket DP with stock exhaust on my Alltrack (paired with IS38 Stage 3 upgrade), I want to ensure my car is as quiet as possible since cops in my area sit around every corner and noise is an easy indicator of a lead foot.
Dumb question I’m still new to cars I have a mk7 I have boost pipes, intake, dv spacer, and a catback. Do I have to tune it to put a high flow cat on it? I just don’t wanna hurt the turbo at all
Man the GTI is such a nice looking car. Sounds great too. I've got stock downpipe and stock exhaust with a muffler delete on my ST and it sounds surprisingly good as well with an upgraded FMIC, cold air intake and a tune.
Aye bro, so I have a 2015 Golf TSI. Is it going to be able to put on some of the mods and things you do to your GTI? Is there any forums or something you can point me to? Because I wanna start upgrading my golf
Sounds much better IMO but the shift lurching alone would have me putting the aftermarket exhaust right back on. Can’t imagine that’s a good thing in long run?
Hey Cameron. Just wanna give a shoutout all the way from Cape Town South Africa. Love your videos dude! Do you have a link for the carbon defuser you have on the GTI perhaps?
I have a 2014 GLI with cts 3” downpipe, apr cold air intake, and turbosmart plumb back diverter valve. It sounds so good, especially on cold start the turbo is soooo loud it sounds like a diesel
i have an apr stage 2 on my mk6 with their catless downpipe and an intake. still remarkably tame, no pops and burbles which i like. if it’s sound you’re worried about i would highly recommend stage 2 for the extra power
