This is almost exactly like an old roommate I had. Always had a story why it was reasonable to be in his situation. Loved to blame others for his laziness. He would make lists, and then say he had to complete them in order, when they were in an impossible order. Didn't track his taxes. I really wished him the best, but it was dragging me down trying to help him. My favorite was when he blamed me for his lack of motivation because my success dragged him down. Still a good friend of mine, but it was healthy for me to have him move out.

Hot take. Caleb shouldn’t have him on anymore until he sees a therapist (not Caleb the other guy). I know humour is a coping mechanism but I’m getting the vibe he feels the pressure and has given up and is ok with more and more bad financial experiences because it generates good content and in that regard he’s successful. Of course this is just my opinion but I wonder if these are starting to do more harm for this particular individual than they are doing good (obviously not directly or intentionally)

Addictions can be gotten over somewhat quickly without help. It's called cold turkey. There's still cravings for weeks to years, but it's mostly behind you fairly quickly. Not everything can be immediately stopped, some addictions need medical help to get over without serious risk of not being alive. Watching stuff is not one of those though. You can just set that one down, though like most things the sucesss rate is pretty low.
