Elizabeth Fraser is incredible. She was the lead singer of Cocteau Twins. You should definitely do some Cocteau Twins, they produced incredibly beautiful, atmospheric music. I recommend you start with Serpentskirt, Summerhead, or, Amelia. Love you guys 👌

Aside with Lisa Gerrard,Elisabeth Fraser is one of best voices of the millenium.Independent label 4AD brought rare and interesting music in the 1980´s such as DEAD CAN DANCE and COCTEAU TWINS

This Mortal Coil were a British music collective led by Ivo Watts-Russell, founder of the British record label 4AD.[4] Although Watts-Russell and John Fryer were the only two official members, the band's recorded output featured a large rotating cast of supporting artists, many of whom were otherwise associated with 4AD, including members of Cocteau Twins, Pixies and Dead Can Dance.[5] The project became known for its gothic, dream pop sound, and released three full albums, beginning in 1984 with It'll End in Tears.[6]

'It'll end in tears' is such a good album, love every song on it. I wasnt so fond of either Filigree & Shadow, or Blood, other than the paired tracks Miniscus/Tears.

There is no treatment on Liz Fraser's voice - that's *exactly* how she sounds live (I was lucky enough to them 3 times in the 80s & 90s). A totally unique voice, with phenomenal melisma. Her collaboration with Massive Attack, 'Teardrop', is also glorious.

The Cocteau Twins masterwork was their album "Heaven or Las Vegas' and is an album you should definitely hear or react to. It Is acclaimed by many to be the pinnacle of the Dream Pop genre and Liz Fraser's vocals are the very definition of "Ethereal Siren".

There's no "sound effects" done to her vocals, minus any overlaying done in the recording and mixing on this album. She's about one of the most natural vocalists there ever was. The only real effects added are within the range of dynamics she provides throughout. The production of the overall engineering and sound quality played only a small part in terms of landing the millions of fans who love her, Cocteau Twins, and This Mortal Coil worldwide, something they never predicted would ever come close to happening.

It’s an 80s classic from a very classy album. Might I suggest an obscure song from around that time you might really enjoy? It’s unlike this song but a gem no less. David & David - Welcome to the Boomtown. It’s gritty, raw, honest about life’s disappointments. I think you guys will really enjoy it.

This was, of course a cover of Tim Buckley's original and wonderful version, as many (but not all) of This Mortal Coil songs were. Elizabeth gave it her all in this cover version. The collaborative talent from the artists/bands that went into the making of 'It'll End in Tears, Filigree and Shadow, and Blood could never be replicated. You guys have consistently delivered the goods! Thank you!

Jean Maurice Eugène Clément Cocteau (UK: /ˈkɒktoʊ/, US: /kɒkˈtoʊ/, French: [ʒɑ̃ moʁis øʒɛn klemɑ̃ kɔkto]; 5 July 1889 - 11 October 1963) was a French poet, playwright, novelist, designer, filmmaker, visual artist and critic. He was one of the foremost creatives of the surrealist, avant-garde, and Dadaist movements; and one of the most influential figures in early 20th-century art as a whole.[1] The National Observer suggested that, “of the artistic generation whose daring gave birth to Twentieth Century Art, Cocteau came closest to being a Renaissance man.”[2]
