Hey Guys! Octane Restorations back here with another Motorcycle restoration! Today we have a 1988 Goldwing GL1500 in the shop that has been sitting for over a decade. This is actually a motorcycle I bought for myself and plan on riding after I get it running! Today's video is the 15th step in that process, diagnosing the no compression. Thanks for watching, please consider liking and subscribing if you enjoyed the video!

I liked the music in this video. Suspenseful. 😊 Your dog is cute enough to have her own channel!

Oh boy... that does look like antifreeze.... but I hope it's some oil additive they tried to fix it. Maybe do a leak down test before doing the lifters.

Yeah I have done the lifters and everything else and luckily have not had an issue yet! But I will probably do a leak test as well because it does look like it:/

@@octanerestorations I hope it works out... here it is so humid Sitting for a decade could have condensation that looks like that but I thought Texas it pretty dry so that's why I thought antifreeze.

@@TheMamonti1 It is pretty dry here sadly! My hope is maybe someone poured water or something in with it, anything but a leak. And if it does hopefully it is like a head gasket or something!

@@octanerestorations Haven't seen any head gasket videos on the 1500's. It must have had a thermostat of overheating issue... It looks like you can do head gaskets without engine removal... at least I hope so..... nobody wants to pull that beast.

What would cause one when your backing it up you have to keep pushing the starter button but it only move one 2 in

Maybe your starter button is sticking or not making good contact!

@@zeth15943 I really need the 1/4 drive, the one i have is freakin nice, but it also kinda bulky. But you're exactly right, when I can use it, it is night and day!

Be careful using the advice of this want to be mechanic. Much of what he does will cause expensive harm to your gl1500 vs. correct the problem. Look and compare what others discuss on same issues. Experience and actual knowledge is what you want vs. someone hoping they stumble across what might be a fix for an issue.

Hey John! I mentioned it in my latest video about the one way valve. This is directly from the honda service manual for the GL1500 on page 7-10. Attach the Hydraulic Tappet Bleeder to the adjuster, center the bleeder pin, and while holding it upright, COMPRESS and extend the bleeder slowly in a jar filled with kerosene. Tool: Hydraulic tappet bleeder 07973-MJOOOOO Continue operating the bleeder until there are no air bubbles. As you saw if you watched the video, I attempted this with kerosene and air and it was not working. I could not compress at all, and decided the next route was the vice. It was buy new hydraulic tappets, or fix these. And the motorcycle runs great now! Thank you for the comment!
