Renegade was at one point my favorite arcade game ever and when the NES version was released, my dad and I drove around for miles to find a store that had 1 copy left so he could buy it for me. Good times

One of my favorite glitches I discovered for that game was a trick to rack up on numerous lives. Basically at certain times in the game, if you kneeled on an enemy, a heart would appear. Get up to grab it for a 1-up, then quickly kneel on the same enemy. Get back up, rinse and repeat to grab multiple hearts for as many lives as you wish!

I still have this game. One of the most decent fighting games along with “Double Dragon”. I beat the entire game many times and it brings back memories. The weird thing about this game is the ending. After defeating the final boss, it jumped right into the credits, but there wasn’t any epilogue at all. The original arcade version has the ending, but the NES version doesn’t. The final stage was a maze where you go through those doors where it leads to the final boss. The final boss was hard and it was a guy holding a gun. You have to be careful if you want to fight. The gun that shoots gives you instant death. If you go to the wrong door, you should try it again.

@GHFear

I remember doing this stuff years ago. It was so much fun :) People sent me carts and controllers from all around sweden and I would fix them up. Sometimes the pads were so damaged, I had to clean the pads off real good with alcohol and coat them in a thin layer of solder to make them have a good connection again. (Which would tell me that whoever owned the game LOVED that game) ^^ Sometimes I would even solder a new thin copper pad on top of the old one to make it work because almost the whole pad was gone. Glad to see you doing this kinda stuff John! Repair business is so important.

Back in the day..like early 90s..the gamebit screwdriver was an engineer trade tool..unavailable to consumers..my local store once opened my Super NES for me to change the fuse..desolder/resolder a new one..but instead of going back for the official method of closing..i chose to file slots in the security screws with a hacksaw and use a flat blade screwdriver..my early modding..wonder how many others used my botchup?

Another fun episode John! As someone who worked in a hotel with a need for brass cleaning products I absolutely learned to LOVE Brite Boy and loathe Brasso. Brasso is an inferior cleaning and polishing product by far in comparison. If using polish, that stuff is incredible.

Back in the late 80’s and early 90’s my father was a manager for a couple of the movie rental store here. My job was to clean the games and NES units that came back not working from being rented out. His district manager asked why I was at the store one afternoon and my father explained what I had been doing, that say I was placing the sensor tags inside the games to keep them from being stolen. The district manager hired me on the spot and that was how I got my first real job. Still to this day, I love to fix old games and systems.

Renegade came with the 1st pack of nes games my dad bought me with the console, with Predator, Ninja Gaiden, Legend of Kage and Friday the 13th. I think it's a good brawler to this day, the mechanics were awesome, grab, knee to the nuts, throw, punching in the floor, running punch, back attack...a lot of moves more than the average brawler, and from the start. Oh, and the big girl's name is Kim
