Fun fact about the dedede inhale trick. The only true way to get out is not mash at all. If you know theyre gonna airdoge you can delay the uptilt but i force my opponents to mash by walking towards ledge so i get it pretty consistently

Oh, when I used to play, the top Dedede player went for this all the time and I literally did nothing each time and never got me once despite getting everyone else in the scene. I told him why I didn't mash, it was "I just accepted my fate" then never ever got hit by it. Despite playing him for years, as even the best players always mashed at the time. Good to know the trick to getting out was accepting the fate.

You can still get out by mashing a fast enough option that frame 3 or less If you play sonic you can just upB out of it. If he shoots you out, you can just mash out and hit him before he has time to do anything. It feels like an incomplete move.

I don't think this is true? you can also mash in a way to make ddd bounce off the ground and also buffer an air dodge to get out of it. It's never actually true. DDD has some random fake hard read confirms if they do certain things, but if you manage to mash to make him pop off the ground you can even footstool ddd before he's actable. uptilt being the fastest option (or nair sometimes) makes it so your opponent is always positive in frame advantage

6:20 that Little Mac Counter Slide Tech is actually a lot simpler than it seem. All you gotta do is: Initial Dash>Counter>Hold forward. The timing isn't at all tight, as long as you counter BEFORE your initial Dash is over, you'll be able to slide. I actually made a video about it 3 years ago! I'm surprised to see it pop up again

There's a couple moves in Ultimate (and Smash 4) where this input works for certain special moves. The ones that come to mind are fox and falco's lasers (fox's is pretty cool; go into the training mode stage, roll all the way to the ledge, then roll once away from the ledge. If you do the initial dash > neutral b > hold forward (toward the ledge) from here, you'll basically go flying offstage while shooting a laser. The hold forward syncs with the moment fox reaches the ledge. You can also do this off of any platform). Other examples I can think of are Marth's neutral b and Isabelle's down b (specifically after having already planted the gyroid). Any neutral specials with this property can likewise be used by Kirby via copy abilities.

Btw the reason GnW didn't die when he jumped is because Dedede's up tilt sweet spot is inside his body, and the head is the sour spot.

Yeah although I didn’t even notice it honestly. I’m guessing they’re tryna get views. The first minute of a video is super important. So it’s understandable that they’d want to move away from skits and towards short recaps.

@@jellybean5929It's for the watch duration. The beginning was when they showed the most important thing and then people just stopped watching. Now they preview it so people continue watching where the thumbnail clip / labbing is done near the end of the video to retain watch duration. It doesn't get more people to click on the videos but it does get people to watch the videos for longer.

6:48 It says you do a forward dash, buffer a Down B so you get the earliest possible counter, then move the left stick in the direction Mac is facing during the counter animation. The author also says they don’t see much practical use for it LOL

It’s ok since it forces your opponent to do something which is always nice The best option is to do nothing or buffer shield and react to the mash out your opponent does (punish jump with uair, fsmash an air dodge, etc. Or they eat 15% from the spit Also I haven’t labbed it myself but if I recall you can just crouch and not get footstooled so you could do that as the “do nothing and wait”

🎉🎉🎉🎉YO I GOT ADVICE ON THE DDD TECH! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 So the buffer can be a really tight input, but if you turn around after the inhale, you can use the turn around animation as your window to input it! If you press down on the left stick, and up on the c stick (tilt stick) it's more consistent! For opponents that get wise to it, or bounce out, buffer: up on analog, up on cstick, and a jump button. This will do an instant short hop up air and kills super early! 😂😂😂

dedede can easily read your airdodge with that tech, ive once gotten someone who airdodged into the ground with a dash attack when they were in lag. also if you buffer a jump while holding up on the cstick you can catch their jump with a buffered upair.

The ddd tech is called BIRD. Buffer Inhale Release Dynamic. Its been well known for like 5 years lol. Theres counterplay to it, and counterplay to that counterplay as well

Japanese says First review the basics: Step forward > use the buffer to input a very fast down B > during the counter motion shift the L stick into the direction Mac is facing That will make the counter slide for some reason. It's also not very useful for actual gameplay

Neutral-B somebody as Dedede, keep holding up-A, walk off the ledge and don't do anything. If the opponent gets out, does he get hit by up-Air immediately? (preferably getting stage spiked)

Imagine getting hit by one move, nearly any move, and being forced into a cutscene that ended with you in the blast zone. Except: - It took little to no execution - There wasn't as many options to escape as a steve combo - Could hit it in air, and was easier to slip into than a Kazuya combo - It wasn't even fast. You are stuck there, watching as the bayo player did the same shit three stocks in a row, watching your character get scooped up to the top blastzone, wait longer if it was a star ko, only to come back on your next stock and have it happen all over again. Steve is campy. Kazuya kills early and fast. Bayonetta allows you to put down the controller and rest your hands for the next 40 seconds.
