thanks for the review. i have been waiting for this! could you clarify with dough, if this is the oled panel v1 or v2 (with higher brightness) ? this would be more transparent for people that are about to receive their v1 model and assume to get the same results like you.
Right; Hey viewers, check out this awesome monitor from a company you shouldn't trust. Their warranty is garbage but get it from the only retailer selling it for some reason. Also, I got a handmade review unit but I'm sure their mass-produced units aren't crap. So many red flags just glossed over, WTF was the point of this video? @@Daniel_WR_Hart
@@lilpain1997 higher brigntness, and you dont loose any contrast ratio or black levels when you are using the monitor during the day or in a bright room. The QD OLED "black image" or basically pure black colors become much lighter when the monitor is being lit up by lightning in the room or just by any ambient lightning, though WOLED does not care at the same time. A lot of reviews show also that WOLEDs are a bit brighter, (im talking about gaming monitors), even tho it is stated overwise on the internet. Maybe i dont know something? Can you elaborate on why do you think QD is better than WOLED, because im not someone who knows a lot about them, im just making this statement after couple reviews/tests i saw on the internet.
still waiting on my spectrum black to be shipped. And seen them been 'in stock' on B&H just not make me happy when that stock could have been just for people who order early.
@thedisplayguy Why did they not opt for the new gen WOLED panel with RWGB sub-pixel layout? If they are using MLA, how did they end up with the old sub-pixel layout?
Does the BFI mode support HDR? I ask because you can overcome some of the brightness limitations of BFI with a displayscaler like the retrotink 4k in HDR mode. The LG C1 supports this but Asus OLEDs dont :( Glad to hear the gorilla glass panel is very clear after all. Maybe someday we might get the perfect monitor (this is cope but still). Definitely glad i preordered the 32 wayback when it was 900 bucks, even though I acknowledge the risk involved with Dough.
are you going to compare LG C4 42" to this? I'm returning my PG32ucdm and I"m stuck between the 32" woleds (waiting for glossy and dealing with IPS a bit more) or the LG C4, or just risking a return and buying a 55" oled. but i'm neraly sure i'll return it TBH it sounds insane for work.
It's insane that 40% of people polled simply had money stolen from them by Dough. It wasn't a Kickstarter, right? This was a real company with a real product that just straight up stole from customers?
don't know whats going on with dough but i missed my delivery from B&H for this monitor today. So, maybe a brick is in the box we will see tomorrow unless my wife misses the fedex guy for signature acceptance of the package again tomorrow
Yes. It was just good marketing. They promised unique features and in the Oled segment there wasn't that much competition. When i "bought" mine i had the choice between 3 27" monitors overall. Well another reason to never again buy from a chinese company. But they even disguised that. It's scam country by this point. A business like this is state sanctioned over there.
Display Guy, I would like to know how are the OLED care features when you get the review sample with the coating fixed. I hope they aren't buggy or something since for me that's one of the most important things on an OLED. I'm really waiting on the 32 inch 4k. I spoke with Migelangelo from dough on reddit asking that they should take a look at implementing extra OLED Care features like MSI on their OLEDs. For what he responded they bought an MSI sample to analize it so theres only hope 🤞. I also asked if they would release the monitor on major US retailers and he confirmed that yes, they would. I hope it realeases on best buy for that coating and being WOLED has me for that monitor.😁
Also I would like for you to confirm if they'll be using passive cooling for the 4k one. I believe that this is also something you should include in your reviews of OLED monitors as well has OLED care testing. Keep up the good work.👍
They seem to work well. They're just a little sluggish (can't scroll around at rapid fire speeds) and a few of the features don't won't yet. However, I have discussed this on their Reddit community, and it will supposedly be addressed in an upcoming firmware update. I have a video on my channel slowly scrolling through the OSD. I'll switch the video from private to public so that you can see it if you want to.
I don't see any of the 'anti burn in' things being marketed by other companies (perhaps it is there?). Specifically, I guess I am talking about the cooling/heatsink/etc stuff that is supposed to alleviate burn in by operating at lower temperatures. Do you have any thoughts on this?
I know asus has a dedicated heatsink, ultimately if you run a lower brightness I wouldn’t worry about it, if you are a 70% brightness or higher person I would be concerned
I bought the dough spectrum with gorilla glass as my work MacBook monitor and it is a 9/10. This will be my next buy as my gaming monitor for my Alienware!
Lets see how it handles burn in though. Driving pixels harder might result in better brightness but also results in them wearing out a lot quicker, hence the much shorter burn in warranty to competing models
Hi display Guy! If you could please answer this question. If I plan to use this monitor in SDR mode only, and have no intentions of using HDR, are the colors at high brightness going to affect me much? Or the inaccurate colors at high brightness are only related to HDR content, and I would be just fine keeping it at SDR? Thank you!
Spectrum black compatible with PS5 ? I still play a lot of games on PS5 mainly FPS Battlefield 5 and 2042 with my friends. Of course also on PC. Battlefield runs at 60Hz on PS5. The motion blur is very high. I currently have the Alienware AW3225QF. I can live with it. Is it then a step backwards with 27"? Do you think WQHD 27" looks worse than 4K 32" in terms of sharpness? How will the brightness of the Spectrum Black 32" be? Same as the 27" ?
Connor is not a hardcore computer user as he recommends a monitor which have issues with displaying gray/dark shades. I dont know of any pc user who uses computers for work that uses light mode. When displaying the gray/dark shades for instance in windows dark mode u either see horizontal dark lanes running through the gray/dark shades or grid-patterns making it look dirty ie the dirty grays. Anti glare coating is not such a big deal compared to the dirty gray issues on woled monitors...
Did you say that stand was optional at $100. Looks flimsy as hell and like the monitor would wobble every time you used the on-screen menu which you did not show. Never heard of this manufacturer before but like most of the OLED and QD-OLEDs released in 2023 and so far in 2024 they are all offering pretty much the same thing since they are using the same two panel types with different pros and cons, including coatings, features and pricing (which obviously effects value for money). I doubt anyone would be disappointed with any of them personally, as a very happy owner of an Alienware AW2725DF, especially if they are coming from an IPS panel like I did where the IPS glow and low contrast were perhaps its greatest weakness. I don't even mind the purple cast to the screen during the day when the screen is off as it is not really visible during actual use and I'd take that, some slightly elevated blacks with perfect viewing angles, fantastic screen uniformity and rich colours over IPS glow any day.
As one of those people that placed an order in June 2023 and requested a refund in August 2023, since then Dough has not even responded. Please reconsider supporting Dough in any form, they are scamming people out of their hard earned money!
I just don't see the problems with qd oleds blacks. Even when my room is lit I don't see it going grey at all. If I shine a light directly on it I can but it really isn't an issue so far.
Some are more sensitive to it than others. Me personally, I don't see a big deal with it cuz our perception of black in high ambient lighting conditions isn't as good as in dim or dark conditions anyway. TLDR imo black not looking as black in bright conditions doesn't matter.
Interesting to find Samsung G8 OLED in your list, and also interesting that ASUS AQDM 27" is missing. I have both, and I borderline hate the AQDM. Maybe I can tweak it to be better, but something about it just feels off - may be the matt coating combined with poor HDR. I'm planning on moving to another country now and may bring the 27" in my luggage... sure beats nothing, and I wasn't particularly unhappy with it, until the Samsung G8 34" OLED arrived.
Honestly I’m kinda sick of OLEDs. We’ve gotten used to talking about brightness windows, but it’s still annoying. It’s very noticeable to me when OLEDs dim themselves to show bright scenes. Bring on MicroLED or super high density Mini LEDs. Full screen max brightness and no burn in
The reason you see grain is that they literally put a glossy gorilla glass layer over the normal matte coating of the panel. I've read it somewhere in their website or YT comments a while ago, they said it gets the advantages of both glossy and matte but I really doubt that. You're just that biased towards the glossy look that it feels better to you even when it's just an outer shell, I feel this is more of a Placebo effect than anything. However I think this placebo effect would work on most people since in most displays they've seen glossy ones are premium (TVs, macbooks, phones...) and matte are budget (gaming monitors, old cars infotainment...).
Pretty sure that’s bullshit, I have two LG WOLED’s next to me, Dough Spectrum Black 27 from B&H, and KTC KP27G6, I can see each individual pixel behind the glass, while the KTC looks muddy and indiscernible, there is no matte coating underneath, no idea why redditors spread misinformation. Anyone reading this, disable Cleartype for chrome, completely removes the chromatic fringing I got on white text on dark mode pages. Monitor is perfect.
Please stop advertising them. Still owe me the NORMAL glossy 4k and I was part of the 1st preorder group. It's now less than I paid during the preorder, and still have no shipping in sight. They are scum of the earth and still owe many refunds or products like me. TO ANYONE WHO DID PREORDER, DO NOT ASK FOR A REFUND.
@@cypherzz-_-5804 if you ask for a refund they will cancel your order and never give you a refund. So atleast you have a chance to get your product eventually
Because it is, this is also a handmade and properly inspected monitor they send to reviewers and not even close to what they send out to the public. If they send you anything at all that is.
Why would you trust this companies warranty for this monitor? They’ve stolen from so many customers and you talk as if buying from b&h photo is a safe bet.
You didn't listen to the video. This is his model that Dough sent him in regards to testing. He legit said "before mass production" that's us. We're the other audience bloke.
I'll never buy a monitor that doesn't have back light strobing. My old zowie xl2411p has far better motion clarity with blur reduction on then a no back light strobing 360hz monitor .
@@patrikmedia no I have an LCD 360HZ but my Friend has OLED 360hz and I tested Asus 540hz pg24qp both are great monitors motion clarity of 360hz OLED is pretty close to Asus 540hz with ulmb2 off.
@@patrikmedia OLED monitors are great but they still have big issues like burn in and brightness for competitive gaming Asus pg248qp is the best because it has ulmb2 and it'll support G sync pulsar but OLED will not support ulmb2 and Gsync pulsar.
Yeah and apparently the guy who assembled it forgot to peel of the protective film underneath 😂 what a joke of manufacturer. Really Display Guy thinks these are assembled at Tesla Gigafactories by robots???😂😂😂😂😂
People really have overreacted to the early problems this company had. They were a brand new company, challenging major corporations in a market that hasn't had any real competitors for a decade. They managed to build, ship and support first in class tech while also getting all the back end logistics stuff in place. Yeah, they didn't immediately have all their warranty and customer service stuff in place, but what do people expect? Go with a big name brand if that's what you're worried about.
