The special instanced duty that you get to go on after completing all of the role quests is honestly one of the coolest bits of "hidden" content in the expac! Four Cheese's Bamf Moment is very very worth.
I've been a huge fan of Fordola since she was introduced. TBH I didn't understand why all the 'I can fix her' memes were directed at Yotsuyu when Fordola was RIGHT THERE.
@@Keira_Blackstone because they didn't playsad music while a skinwalker version of her did something nice. Fordola had to earn her redemption, and people don't like earning things.
Fordola and Jullus are legitimately two of the best characters in the entire game. The stories of Ala Mhigo and Garlemald aren't just some high fantasy bullshit where the power of friendship and colourful light beams save the day from evil mega-satan - they're *real*. They have happened, are happening, and will happen, all over the world. And Stormblood and the first half of Endwalker weren't afraid to talk about them with nuance and empathy.
I love Fordola and Julius too, partly because they have my accent and they sound exactly like someone I could meet down the pub but Fordola seems to attone for her wrongdoings and i grew to like her.
I love how Healers are 2 for 2 for FFXIV's role quests. Giott was amazing in ShB, while Fordola and Arenvald managed to be shine here in EW. Also good to see Raubahn and Nanamo and M'naago here too. Hope Pint manages to complete the other Role quests in both expansions. While I can't really say more, the payoff you get from them is great. 1:43:22 I say you're doing great. Can't wait for the release of your merch, and your next video for your main channel. It's good that you managed to get help with the other stuff, learning to delegate tasks is a super important skill especially if you want to run a good business, 1:53:12 I'm glad they managed to reference Fordola's choker here from one of the Tales of the Storm stories. Garlemald's shock collar is evil, but nothing compared to what Fordola's would do to her should she ever step out of line.
I'm glad that shone a spotlight on Fordola here. They kinda start going towards developing her in the StB patches, but it never went very far. Then she got benched for most of ShB. Good to see this.
The one I did on my bard (my only combat 90 as of yet) sent me to the Far East, and I got to fight a nasty along with Yugiri, Hien, and healed by someone else I didn't expect. It was cool!
Pint so concerned with finishing the MSQ and having nothing to do afterwards. And I'm here thinking, "You don't know. You just don't know." The end of MSQ has such weight to it I expect it to take longer than you expect. I mean, I did do every sidequest along the way, so it'll definitely take Pint less time than me. But it'll still be some time before we see the end of the MSQ. And then there's the story after the end of 6.0.
This has probably been asked to death, but does anyone know what reshade preset Pint is using? Specifically the depth of field - every dof preset I try to configure I can't get to look like Pint's setup. I did the proper migration from gshade, but still can't figure out the dof settings.
Thank you kindly, all. My depth of field preset appears to be borked, it has the opposite effect as you would expect from dof - near objects are blurry and far objects are clear. I've tried adjusting the blur curves (near and far) as well as autofocus and manual focal planes, but it's still borked. I'll try deleting the old ones and using Espresso Glow's reshade version from a few days ago.
fordola suffered a little from them not making her whole deal as explicit as they could have back in stormblood. The elements were there, but they didn't give themselves the time to really dig into it. because if Lyse had stayed behind in Ala Migho, she would have become another Fordola, and if Fordola hadn't been intercepted by Our Heroes early in the process, she would have become another Yotsuyu. "Build a better world, with your ability to fight for our cause, girl. Surely, if you beat just one more peasant half to death, sacrifice a bit more of the dream of a better life you used to have, give one more piece of yourself over to the empire, you will become something that isn't hurt by the hateful stares anymore.' 'Eventually, you'll learn to like it.' she has done horrible things. made terrible sacrifices. bonds of blood, that she would not see tarnished. she hated herself enough while she was winning. now imagine how much worse it is, now that she knows it was all for nothing.
I will never understand why Fordola is the one people hate and Yotsuyu is the one people love. Fordola has an interesting background and arc, you can understand her motivations and why she became what she is, and how she got trapped by it. Yotsuyu is a psychopath that got mistreated by her parents, so turned that into a hatred for all Domains for no coherent reason. She then starts being a straight up war criminal. After she somehow doesn't die to having her chest be opened, then having a building collapse on her, then having that building fall into the ocean, she stops existing entirely for a while since Tsuyu is literally just a different character. Only to then go immediately back to her psychopathy straight after getting her memories back before we put her down like the rabies infested animal she is.
They both were a reflection that the evils done in warfare aren't always by the enemy, it can often be by your own people. Did their mistreatment make it right for Fordola and Yotsuyu to do what they did, no, but you can also see why.
Yotsuyu hated Domans because they (as her countrymen) watched her suffer and did and said nothing. She doesn't hate them for what they did, but what they didn't. That's the significance of the little "game" she plays with the inhabitants of Isari.
As someone who played tactics and 12, I honestly don’t blame you for skipping the ivalice raid story. That shit was BAD. Do play void arc though, that stuffs good. Especially cause 6.X patch content references it. Also, there’s a generic questline in heavensward called “The Scholasticate” dealing with the turmoil within the church of Halone post 3.0. It’s quite fun, and gets referenced in myths of the realm.
The raids are the only redeeming part of Ivalice. The story is a slap to the face to any tactics/12 fans. I know that 14 Ramza isn't Tactics Ramza, but why make him worse than ARR Alphi? Why does Ivalice feel incredibly forced into the world of 14? The raids are so good, but the disdain for the plot bleeds in making me incredibly mixed as a whole.
