As a kid we would use a cane pole with a purcupine quill as a strike indicator, no resistance at all.

Richard Gene...Mr. Machine...I wish there was a way I could tell you adequately how much joy you bring to this old world. People from all corners of my globe have all heard of Richard Gene the Fishing Machine. If they weren't aquainted with him i made sure they were by the time we parted ways! That’s right fishing can been done at anytime.. I’ve been in heat, cold, windy, and rain to the point it doesn’t come down the wind pushes the rain sideways 😅 that was a day to remember winds speed 10-25 mph what a day 😅

I'll just add to what all the others have said and say THANK YOU for all your great content. Like down your way, things up here in WI have cooled off a little and the fish are putting on the feed bag. Walleye (our popular fish), sunnies (blue gill to most folks), and crappie and starting to school up in the shallower water and feeding heavy for this coming winter. Great video as always. May God continue to shine his light on you and yours.
