RIP Hana Kimura (1997-2020), whom Akane was based on. She was cyberbullied for slapping the hat off someone on Terrace House, a reality TV show, for accidentally ruining one of her expensive wrestling costumes in the laundry. The drama was staged by the producers. Rest in peace, Hana😔

That's awful. People are so delusional, it doesn't even have to be a reality show. There were fans of Game of Thrones who send death threats to the (teen) actor who played Joeffrey, just because he was really good at acting as a villain. It's unbelievable. So sad that people die because of idiots like this.

Ah yes I barely knew her but a big fan of pro wrestling just not the E side but yes RIP Hana Kimura! Seens some of her stuff if she was alive I know she could have trived if she was on the U.S soil. I swear people want to start stuff even if its troll you cant tell what real or not cause were reading the comments its not even face to face in real life once u start reading terrible comments u assume its bad. Hate those kind of people!

Thats why Aqua said that lying is also how to protect yourself. Being "real" in acting could be good, but it also leaves you vulnerable to attacks like this.

What hit's me so hard about the whole message of this episode, and how so much of our society is in general, is the assumptions we make based on almost nothing and then the judgements we make on them. As much as I hate seeing others do this I know I do it at times too. (Far too often x.x) We can easily see what someone does, hear what they say and of course we have to make some judgment of character etc But how often our snap judgment or stereotype box we put someone in is all we ever use. We don't dig deeper, get to really know people, and instead assign the worst possible motives on them. usually projection. Yet for others that we have decided to, we are willing to overlook all flaws, give chance after chance to and see in the best possible light. It's the issues that this show brings up and the way it treats them that makes me appreciate it so much.

What made the online abuse feel so real is that it was real. Many of those comments were the exact things that were said to Hana Kimura who took her own life because of the abuse she was receiving online after a staged incident on a reality show that made her look like the bad guy. Her case is why cyber bullying is now a crime in Japan.

Not so fun fact, actually really sad fact, it feels real because it's based on a true story of someone not fortunate enough to have someone save her. Comments word for word taken from the situation.

Akane's story will always remind me or Hana Kimura, a promosinf joshi wrestler who got cyberbullied by Japanese fans for an incident in a reality show. We lost her too early. Became a fan of her during the show and as a wrestling fan I will never forget that tragedy.

Hana Kimura’s death is a tragic fact, and I pray that she may rest in peace. There are rumors that the Oshi no Ko no Romance Reality Show arc is based on Hana Kimura’s suicide, but that is not true. Aka Akasaka, the co-author of the manga, has clearly stated on Twitter that this plot had been conceived before the serialization. The same thing is explained in the afterword of Volume 3 of the manga. So the rumor that the co-authors used the Terrace House incident as a model is baseless. If false information is circulated, it will hurt the honor of the co-authors. On the other hand, it is true that Hana Kimura’s mother misunderstood that her daughter’s case was used as a model and protested after the anime aired. Hana Kimura’s mother is hurt by her daughter’s death, and I don’t blame her for misinterpreting it. But in fact it is not a model. Everyone, please share the truth with others if you can. @@FiammaRahan The light overshadows the dark, in my opinion. It feels lackluster when compared to the first episode, since the episodes after lack the Oomph. It's why I don't think having incredible feature length movie first episode is good for a series. Naturally, it causes high expectations, of which it'll be difficult to match. I have to skip some of the more fluff moments, since it feels out of place with the plot that was promised.

@@kunal1957 What ever happened was never to be confirmed by that and she is back under VShojo Henya, so that also doesn't mean that she was pushed away from the internet. This is also good news for her, in the sense that she can remain as Henya if she decides to leave VShojo as others just did. I don't really understand that decision to "graduate" and forever leave the character, although it is a character it doesn't feel right that vtubbing has become this kind of industry.
