i agree. the way this guy is about siennas; im the same about accords. not an "enthusiast vehicle" and more of a "contemporary" one. but still has a charm about it.
@@mmd-io4hp to me included. I indeed carry middle eastern blood and love the feel of the accord, I baby mine because I love it as the choice car that I own, and have owned previously before. But that 8th generation has some of the most responsive handling for a full sized sedan. I used to own one and absolutely adored it. Now I own a 7th generation of the same trim and engine, the 2.4 (no not as powerful as a V6 but I've still gotten some good performance from it.) And I don't take it for granted because it is also highly popular here in America, being the first of its class every generation. So it's very rare to get a fairly cheap one but not impossible either. Still worth the buck especially if you find one with a sunroof, that works. 😜
@@Hypersquid98 hell yeah! 7th and 8th generation are the best! horsepower is 100% overrated. i have a new gen sonata and i LOVE IT, it doesnt need to be 500 hp+ and rwd, it is just a car that i enjoy driving and handling. but it desnt have a sunroof ;(
This comes to show you that it’s not always necessarily about how expensive or how flashy or how fast or what badge is on your car, but rather how clean and well taken care of if is. 98% of cars that look super clean are ok cars and shouldnt be looked down upon.
"What badge"? This is Toyota, King Toyota. No other car manufacturer will ever amount to the quality, reliability, respect, honor and glory Toyota has achieved. Second to none.
When I see a super clean basic car at a expensive place I know that person has their priorities straight and will never lose their wealth. When I see a hipster crawl out of a brand new supercar with weird clothes I know it’s only a matter of time.
This is basically what I have been doing with a 1997 Toyota Camry. I got the car for free (it needed the timing belt, engine/trans mounts, brakes, tires, suspension, etc done) from a co-worker's mom who was the original owner. It is a very straight, nice car with great factory paint (white.) The interior looks like it has 40k miles on it, save the driver side door panel which shows more wear. Ice cold A/C too. I have done all the mechanical work needed (it has 188k miles.) I also cut/buff/corrected the paint (Not quite Templin spec - but it came back really nice.) I am in process of doing a bunch of sound deadening, and after the cleaned interior goes back in - I am going to discreetly install a great stereo. I replaced / realigned all the window regulators and polished the glass - and will have it all tinted. Then will figure out a wheel/tire/ride-height combo and it will be my under-the-radar-cruiser/daily. I have newer cars, but something about the late 80s-late-90s cars like Toyotas for me is the sweet spot of comfortable. The interiors and abundance of visibility / glass just makes them the best IMO. Great work bring back the Van!
@@saiーツ I have done the timing belt and water pump (gates premium kit,) rebuilt the front / rear suspension (minus springs and struts,) replaced the engine / trans mounts, air intake tube, pcv valve, injectors, rear brakes (drum) and front brakes (disc,) transmission filter, pan gasket, valve cover gasket, spark plugs & wires. I didn't buy OEM parts - but I didn't buy the cheapest of the cheap either. I basically stuck with quality brands I knew (Bosch, Moog, etc.) I still need to do tires on it (they are 20 years old.) I have less than 2k into it parts wise. Car just cruises at 85mph on the freeway getting 30+ miles to the gallon.
@@junior17medval I will make one, I currently have the seats out as I am finishing cleaning the interior and about to start sound deadening the inside of the doors. Check my channel next tuesday or so - vid will be there.
As someone who put 22 hours into wet sanding/polishing a base model 2006 Civic that I got as a daily a number of years ago I appreciate the hell out of this video. Keep up the great work man.
Parents bought one of these when my sister was born and I was three and it carried the family to countless trips. Some decade and a half later it ended up being my first vehicle to use to get around, as well as for my sister three years later. Later on it ended up being used to pick up my first bits of music kit, and got my band to our first show. I've got a lot of sentimental love for these things and smile when I see them around. That van was tough as hell too. I did the 1MZ no favors during my teen years but it never slowed down. No burnt oil, no misfires, nothing. Also fun fact: they will exceed the 110MPH mark on the speedo (in Minecraft)
You just made me relive my childhood. Grew up with this van with my dad driving the family everywhere. Tomorrow is 6 years since his passing and I have a feeling he sent this to me today. Cheers man.
We need so much more of this type of content, take an old shabby car and just fix it. HUGE respect for the effort and time spent with the legend, the Sienna.
Totally agree, keeping the vehicle as original as possible while restoring it would be of more interest to me then say "Pimp my Ride" shows of the past.
I always love when people care about cars that aren't just the flashy sports cars. Vans, sedans, etc are the chariots of most people's lives. I love my own little collection, and would like to expand it to include a Sienna as well. The title didn't lie! It would make for such a nice photo to have a Sienna parked next to my two Previas.
Enjoyed this, bought a 1999 Sienna brand new and it was a beast and a warrior tirelessly performing family duties over several years, accumulating its fair share of battle scars. Only ever received regular maintenance and made it to over 400,000 kms (250,000 miles), before steering rack gave out, and then it was sold. Happy memories!
My dad used to drive 2000 Sienna LE in Desert Sand Mica. This video brings me back lots of childhood memories. From everyday drop off to school to family road trip to Las Vegas, we loved our Sienna.
honestly some of my most fond memories as a young kid were being driven around to tennis lessons, family dinners, and sleepovers around in my best friend's new (1999-2000 at the time) parents plain jane white toyota sienna. it was always a treat to get picked up and then subsequently fight for one of the two captain's chairs between my best friend and his older brother
I’m still driving my 2005 Toyota Sienna at well over 300 thousand reliable miles. Kids have grown up have their own vehicles but I still love the Sienna not going to trade her in anytime soon.
I still have one of these, same year, same color, and love it, went camping, slept on it with friends, went up and down the state and has never let me down, and I feel very safe in it. Love to see someone treating it like a jewel, which I think it is.
Minivans honestly are both sleeper hits and (once upon a time) extremely popular. SUV's have taken the public eye, but consider this about minivans vs SUV's, sports coupes, trucks, and sedans: They're not lookers... so they have some of the lowest theft or even break-ins. Lower cost than SUV's in many comparisons. Lower center of gravity, smoother ride quality than SUVs or Trucks. With the seats folded or removed, more (weather protected) cargo hauling room than a Ford F150 Sliding doors = easier access in tighter spaces, easier loading of containers and wide things, no door dings in 2-car garages. More fun for road trips and spontaneous car camping adventures than sedans or sports cars (at least, when distance and views are the goal more than windy roads and acceleration). More likely to make friends and earn favors in exchange for hauling help. Hybrid minivans can get like 35 mpg city/highway fuel efficiency. So, don't think of them as an inevitable box for family needs, think of them for having "So much space for activities!!" My dad had Fords and Chryslers, and they were like affordable land yachts!
These first gens are truly comfy vans. My '00 has almost 350k miles on it and it's a joy to take on back roads. You get a good deal of body roll on sharp curves yet the suspension makes you think you're in a Cadillac. Very soft and graceful. Awesome job bringing this one back to life! She's really slick.
My aunt used to have a late 1990s Ford Windstar van. You never see those around anymore but still see these dozens of these Siennas on the road running perfect. It just shows the great products Toyota makes.
Buddy, I want to congratulate you on this awesome masterpiece. I not only loved the work you did detailing this old van, but also loved your production and editing work. Goes to show how much you can do with just creativity, a bunch of tools, a phone with a 4K camera and a lot of willpower. This 25 years old dude from Southeast Brazil thanks you from the bottom of his heart. You brought me back so many memories from my childhood, since the times I was 6 and played Ridge Racer Type 4 on PS1 around 2005 thinking it was the best thing in the world, to the current days where I work on my old Junkers. Your garage background and slow music remind me so much of Ridge Racer Type 4 first menus where you'd select your teams and car makers that I almost cried from the nostalgia. Since I'm not American I don't really get the part about wet sanding the old van being silly, to me any car being detailed carefully like you did is worth praise regardless of make, price range or overall condition. You weren't kidding on the title when you said I'd Want to buy a Sienna after this video, you really made me want one, this was the best 90's car ad ever! (If you get the joke). I also got the vibe of those Need For Speed Underground 2 menus with this kind of calm music sounding like "Riders on the Storm" and such. The Transformation even reminded me of Need For Speed Underground 1 intro where the Mitsubishi Eclipse goes through a mechanical and visual transformation. Please do make more of those videos with mostly music and restoring and less talking. I'd love to watch that. You just got a new subscriber. If I ever get to visit America, I want to shake your hand for everything you did for your subscribers and myself. Going back to my childhood watching this really made my year. Thank You so much!
Thank you so much for the kind words and expression Paulo!! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video, I put a lot of time into the van, filming, and editing it! Thank you so much 🤍
@@AidanTemplin Oh, Thank YOU for taking the time to reply. This alone means the world to me, a mere subscriber. Your effort was surely appreciated somewhere in the world, never forget that! My best regards from Brazil.
My uncle is on his 3rd Sienna and he loves it because it is reliable, practical, useful, and fuel efficient and the first Sienna he had was a silver 2006, the second Sienna he had was a 2011, and his current Sienna is a 2015 ish Sienna and whenever he moved to America, most of his vehicles were either Toyota’s or Honda’s but he had some Mercedes vehicles
This is the first of your channel I’ve seen. I found this on a FB group and what a find! I would like to see a parts list/links and maybe some more in-depth process videos. There is a small group of us 1st gen Sienna owners that are starving for this. Either way, thanks! Subscribed in the hope of more similar content
My mom bought a loaded out denim blue sienna new in 99’. Kept it till 2019. 212k miles the trans gave out and she junked it. Terrific little van. It’s cool to see a couple of these vans getting some love instead of being driven to the ground, most of em are abused and un maintained. We took meticulous care of ours while we had it.
Got a 99 a few years back as an extra car if I need to haul stuff around. 1 owner 270k miles still runs strong. Did the plugs a few months back, bit of a pain but not bad. No leaks, clean interior, A/C blows cold. Only issues I had was window regulator, a door lock actuator and door handles that break. All easy fixes usually like $20-40 to fix. I still see so many on the road. It even looks like it still has the original alternator. Always starts even after sitting for weeks.

My mom has a 98 Sienna, was going to sell it. I told her my friend and I will take it as a project car and restore it. She was glad because she didn’t want to let it go, lots of sentimental value. Only 109k miles. Said I could even have it. I’m so excited.
Great work on this. I grew up around these first gen Siennas and have always loved them. I hardly ever see them anymore! Thanks for bringing this one back to life!
I still have our 99 Sienna with only 110K, I will finally retire next year and planning on driving it all over then. My wife’s only car and she wouldn’t want to give it up. That 3.0L 1mz-fe non vvti is one of the best Toyota ever produced.
It’s not fast but the sound the v6 intake makes puts a smile on my face every time. Parts is easy to find at junk yards. I’ll keep mine for as long as possible.
I got one kid next kid is coming in July, definitely would snag a Sienna. I borrowed a 2009 Sienna for a weekend and it was clapped out but still got us around in comfort and a/c 😂
Jokes on you, I've *_ALWAYS_* wanted a Toyota Sienna! This video does nothing more than affirm my appreciation for such an automobile! (And this is one hell of a video too!)
I have a 2000 sienna and love it, it has 200k miles on it and running like a champ. No major issues and easy fixes only, synthetic oil since day one and boy it's still pulling strong.
bought a new v6 sienna in 2011...only thing broke waa a light bulb after 10 yrs of countless trips to New York from Toronto, to Quebec. not even a single rust. only Toyota can last forever. still going strong in 2023 dec. amazing van.
I just bought a 1999 and this video was in my previous watched history- so I’d say you won. lol I love it, the owner kept a very strict maintenance service schedule and I was looking over it and it has a power steering leak and it needs new rear brakes. It’s been intensely well taken care of. I hope that I can love it just as much as they did. I’ve never seen someone stand in one spot and look at a car for a moment or two and know exactly what was going through their mind. They raised their kids with it, took long road trips with it and according to the mileage it’s been driven to the moon and could probably go back without much fuss. I’m kind of floored and awe struck by how insanely well built these vans are. I just got it today so we’ll see how it goes- but oddly enough, I trust it. Put full coverage on it and now just gotta get the bugs worked out. This was literal therapy watching this again as a new owner of a now 25 year old Toyota Minivan. I just got it and I am absolutely smitten with it. I probably did scare the daylights out of the owners during the test drive though. lol 😂 Greetings from Colorado Springs.
My parents bought my 1998 Sienna, used in 2001 with 60,000 miles on it - it's been my daily driver since 2016 and I currently use it to drive to university. It's such a hidden gem of a car, I can't imagine driving another car. I still remember getting driven to pre-school in it
Great video! I am an owner of a 2002 Sienna LE and still in great conditions.... 250,000 miles and counting.. I enjoyed this video and the amazing transformation.
This video did not make me want a Toyota Sienna, but i appreciate the effort put into the video. No idea why this has shown up 1st in my recommended feed every day since it came out, but i hope the algorithm continues to shine a light on you.
My 2000 sienna makes me so happy. I love the smoothe ride and big inside for people and. Cargo. I plan to keep it forever. Currently 142,000 miles. Jeff in Minnesota
love this video. this gentleman got his game going on. this guy is so good at what he does it looks so flawless as he does it. the love that he put into it, WOW!
this is the first video I've watch from this creator and it's nice to see that it's not a god aweful channel explaining for 30 mins how to loosen a bolt just for 3 ad reads. Thank you sir!
The YT algorithm knows what I wanna see LOL. Japanese cars from this era are some of my favorite cars on the road. I'm not gonna pretend they're better than modern cars, simplicity is a double edged sword, but maybe it's just nostalgia. Maybe the chill easygoing styling. Maybe the accessibility and affordability, the reliability and that comes with less complexity of design be it for emissions or safety. I can't be 100% sure, but what I can say is it's nice to see an old Sienna get some love, AND all the people in the comments as happy as me. Great video, subbed
I used to live in Fredericksburg and when I saw the Motorcycle sign I knew exactly where that was. Small world. My parents had a Sienna when I was growing up, that the best generation van. Nice restore!
Joke's on you, I already want one! But really, I wish people would treat non-enthusiast vehicles with this much love and care. It's something I wanna do with my dad's old '08 Accord, which I love to death.
For real man, minivans are honestly some of the best vehicles because they are where lots of childhood memories are made, and they are still generally beautiful.
My parents have a top trim 2005 Toyota Avalon sitting in the garage with 350k miles. I've been thinking about restoring it back to great condition. This video might be the motivation I need to fix that girl up.
Wet sanding doesn't sound ridiculous. I'm happy to see others taking care of their vehicles, regardless of what sub category those vehicles fall in. God bless 🙏❤
i already do. i already have a minivan but its my favorite body type of vehicle. i couldn't imagine driving anything with less interior capacity than a minivan
Minivans are top tier, I bought an 05 Grand Caravan and it's such a smooth ride. The seats are comfy, the vehicle is floaty in the way it accelerates, brakes, and handles and they can haul so much due to an insane amount of storage space!
Brand new! Makes me wanna clean up my wife’s car for her. Proud of you and thank you for reminding me of the importance of remembering to take care of old things!!
this is literally the best video ever, I need more content like this of just repairing and restoring a car that no one else would think to restore, love it!
I found your RU-vid after seeing you detall the Century. Saw all the stanced cars looking mint!! Then watch a video of you detailing a Sienna. I was not dissapointed. Nice work man 🙂
I have the same one, I just put 250,000 miles last weekend in Acadia. My 2000 Sienna is a hand me down mini van from my dad and it's been in my family for 17 years and still kicking and very strong.
I was planning to get a first gen Sienna after my daughter was born and was going to lower it a little and have some fun with it (i am an old Caravan guy) but decided on a late 1st gen Highlander AWD instead so I can play offroad some. Here is a tip, next time doing plugs on anything...use a length of 3/8" rubber hose to start the plugs (also to grab them if your magnet goes missing) that way your not dropping them into the well plus its impossible to crossthread with hose.
I have lots of childhood memories in a siena exactly like thay siena, same color and interior, eans exactly that model year. Sienas are rad af, and id love to own a siena.
My family had 2000 Sienna CE in tan that was driven for over 15 years. At the end when you showed the interior shot of you driving with the camera in the backseat that gave me major nostalgia. Same exact view my sister and I had for long road trips :)
A family member just gave me one of these for FREE! “2000 model” it only has 130k on it. “All original” i plan on making this my new daily. I appreciate this video! Definitely gives me motivation to work on it!
Sienna Mane back at it again with another banger video! This was wild. I don't think I would bother clicking on, let alone watching, a nearly 40-minute video about a 24-year-old minivan, but I knew it was gonna be done right, and it was interesting, to say the least.
