The Dallas Stars just got totally worked over by the Vegas Goldenknights, with Vegas taking the series in 6 game. We'll cover Vegas and Dallas game 6 on tonight's NHL hockey video.
I’d leave their sorry asses after that debacle too. Why stay around to watch that and waste time? They just were not good in this game, which was unreal considering it was an elimination game
@@mwbrada chill, just a slight typo. And it’s not really much of an admission to me, since I’ve never been much of a fan old Jaimie to begin with, though I do like Oettinger Robertson and Pavelski and think they deserved better.
@@mwbrada “a series fit your narrative” lol what are you on about my guy? Everybody else in the community has been talking about Benn’s incident, not just me, because it was a serious issue. It’s only natural that it would end up having an overarching influence over the series as a whole, as any significant controversy often does. You keep replying with more embittered passive aggressive responses insinuating that I’m trying to seriously suggest that Benn’s conduct is what decided the series, but if you actually understood the joke, you would know that I’m actually doing the opposite. The point was that I was humorously reflecting on the incompatibility of the public’s perception versus the actual series itself. You’re really starting to come across as an oversensitive literalist who can’t take a joke. Just stop.
I like to call it the Jamie Benn effect. They should honestly strip him of his captaincy and give it to a guy like Pavelski who comes in clutch for them in huge moments like the game 4 OT goal to even provide Benn the opportunity to dress for a game 6.
@@Killa_Zman20 yeah, he's a living land mine to a teams ability to win. I just don't see anything particularly great about him - aside from the fact he is loved by Dallas Fans. Actually I stand corrected. Keep him forever so that we never have to worry about seeing Dallas in the finals.
I always swear that Benn isn't the captain anymore. As a Tampa fan I don't pay much attention to the West but I always think it's someone else. I'm always shocked Benn still has it.
In 2017 I didn’t know much about hockey, but l lost my sister the night of October 1st and the Knights gave me hope. Not just from their play but players like Wild Bill, Smith, and Marchy came out into the community and helped keep us together. I will admit that a lot of the criticism of Vegas fans was true at first, we didn’t know much about hockey (which is true for every fan at some point in their lives), but I can assure you that many of us now know the game and will never stop losing our voices for a team that helped us through an unprecedented tragedy and never quit on us. We won’t quit on them. GO KNIGHTS GO!
I'm a Ducks fan that didnt get into hockey until 2017 (my freshman year of college) only because my roommates being from the East coast got me really into it. Totally get where youre coming from (except obviously the losing your sister part... Hope youre doing well)
That’s why we love VGK because of what they did to help our community after October 1 mass shooting. They showed up for us. Not because of the wins they have it’s their character the way they carry themselves in our community. They don’t go driving around town at a 167mph crashing into a young woman and her dog killing them. I’m not going to name names or the team that is in Vegas that player belonged to.
@@Blackswamper one hell of an arena, i'm from BC and so i usually watch my Canucks in Van. NOTHING like when i saw VGK play in vegas. what a party and the fans were turned up to 12
I was listening to the game on the radio, and the only Dallas name I heard with consistency all night besides Otter was Kiviranta. He may not score much but he always shows up.
Dallas shitting the bed after getting Benn back is some kind of karmic retribution or something. Especially after playing the previous two wins "for Jaime" as if he were out because of injury or some tragedy, like cancer, and not him being a giant piece of shit on the ice in the game he got suspended for.
This makes my choice for the cup a bit easier, but I REALLY hope Pavelski gets a cup one day. Man's a legend and definitely worth an A if not a C on his chest.
Knights for the most part have had an easy road to the finals while the Panthers have been battle tested and shown up big. Just look at the teams the Knights have played. Jets are a cakewalk and the Oilers big never get it done because their defense and goaltending is always a mess. The Stars are like the team they share a city with, the Cowboys, and they'll choke right on que. Panthers had to face the historical Bruins and juggernaut Canes. Panthers are seriously scary right now.
He has the A, doesn't he? I was kind of pulling for Pavelski too. He's a great player that deserves a cup. Sad when players like him or Doan never get one. Too bad his captain let him down.
As a Dallas fan I have to congratulate VGK. Their depth scoring has been really good throughout the playoffs and I think it's safe to say the two most consistent teams offensively/defensively/goaltending made it to the finals. No points for Tyler Seguin, Mason Marchment, Wyatt Johnston, two points from Domi, and a single goal from Jamie Benn/single assist for Dadonov before both left the series is just not a recipe to win a 7 game series. Shaky goaltending as well although i'll admit Oettinger certainly didn't get any help from the fact that Vegas completely outworked Dallas tonight.
It’s a shame it ended like this. I was rooting for Dallas in this series as well not because I’m a Dallas fan, but because I don’t like VGK. I thought this series was over heading into game 4, and when Dallas wins 2 straight, I was expecting more fight, more pushback from Dallas tonight and we just didn’t see it. Florida vs Vegas should be very interesting, definitely not a matchup any sane person had on their brackets back in mid-April. I’ll be rooting for Florida even though I don’t like them either just because I dislike Vegas more. Whatever happens though it should be exciting.
@@Killa_Zman20 you kinda a want the team that steamrolled the team you rooted for to win it all though. You never want to be the team that lost to 2nd best.
I mean, there's the Rangers, Bruins, and Leafs to choose from as far as embarrassing performances go, but yeah, a 6-0 elimination game is a really bad way to get bounced from the Stanley Cup playoffs.
@@internetzenmaster8952 the bruins, Rags, Devils, Laffs, Jets are all in the conversation here, I was just talking about game performances rather than overall performance in a series.
The calgary flames have entered the chat. Mackenzie Weegar abd Jonathan HuberDough was proclaiming the flames was going to win the cup this season. Weegar even went so far to say this year’s Flames team was a better team than the presidents cup Panthers team. Pure comedy skit
They found a winning lineup without Benn and then shook it up just to put him back in, shouldn’t ever do that in the ploffs. All I know about this offseason is that Benn needs the C ripped from his Jersey and sent packing, he doesn’t play like a Captain and he certainly doesn’t play to what he’s paid.
Kinda reminds me of what happened in Boston. Patrice Bergeron was out the first four games, and they were 3-1, they put him back in, and went 0-3. Not saying Bergeron was a net negative (I don’t think he was), I just think that when you’re winning, it’s a smart idea to keep the lineup the way it is, no matter who’s coming back.
I think they should give the captaincy to Pavelski instead. He plays unselfishly, for his team, and scores clutch goals for Dallas when they need it the most. He’s already the alternate captain, so it makes the most sense.
@@ilznidiotic absolutely. It is a tough call to decide to leave the captain out of the lineup but for this series at least, it would’ve been the correct call to make. I’ll try to not be doom and gloom about the future for the sake of my own sanity, lol, but if DeBoer keeps up his track record you might be right.
@@Killa_Zman20 he certainly deserves it, they may decide on somebody like Roope though; Joe while perfect for the role only has but so many seasons left and they may want somebody to fill the role for some years to come.
I'm glad Vegas played so well, I've been a lowkey fan of them for a while, and became more of a fan after I visited the city on a family trip (Didn't go to a game sadly) and came home with a customized jersey. Vegas was one of my backups and I'm so happy they made it to the finals, it's now a battle of the Vacation Destinations!
went to a afternoon Sunday game in Dec 2018 - Montreal Cdns ended up winning... great atmosphere what energy in that building - saw them again when they came to Buffalo - any hockey fan should go see a game in VGK it is incredible right from the fanfare opening and the great intermission entertainment usually say Cirque de Soleil or say Blue Man Group - so amazing
I didn’t care who won this series, but after that Benn cross check (and his explanation after the game), I was rooting against them. Hate to see Seguin out, but couldn’t be happier that Benn came back for this embarrassment. A brand new team will win the Cup this year and that’s exciting for our sport.
I agree, that was a nasty crosscheck, seemingly unprovoked. You could see Stone in a really vulnerable position, recoiling as if to say please don't kill me
I commented this in another video, Dallas had the weakest forecheck. Sending only one forward while Vegas sent two on theirs. Weak defensive puck handling and zero o zone time. Can’t even blame Otter. They were leaving passing lanes wide open too
I know we are the most hated team in the nhl, but they are the best thing to ever happen here! We had virtually no winning sports. Nothing to cheer for. And they lifted us up after the Oct 1st 2017 tragedy. Vegas Strong!! Go Knights!
many only hate them because they are so good. me included, lol. they eliminated the best team Jets have ever been in the 2018 conference final :( still bitter about that, i wanted to see Laine vs Ovie in the final so bad (back when Laine was still pulling hat tricks every other week).
@@teddtarr Seattle will get there turn on the "hate on expansion teams train" if they keep up their success. Vegas has been shielding all the hate for them so far.
if this doesn't tell you have the wrong guy as your captain nothing does. Benn ruined the Stars in this series. Olefson was the better fit and Benn will no longer be the captain next year if Dallas was smart.
He’s talking about Dallas fans like me if you’re team got absolutely killed how would you feel (edit: anyway congrats on the Stanley cup you’re team deserves it.
Panthers fan here. I was happy Vegas had to play a couple more games. But the way they dominated this one, neutralizes, the benefits Florida is getting with the lack of rest time. It's like the perfect practice game for Vegas. Whereas if Vegas would have won their last one without having to fully commit. They would more likely start the next series in the same fashion. So the Panthers need to be very prepared that they are going to have to match the incredible effort and commitment Vegas just gave. Obviously, if they don't, they are going to get railroaded.
Both franchises have been to a final before, losing. Now a chance to seal the deal - who will it be? Panthers got Bob. VGK has that 4th line... Now for the ultimate glory - this will probably be one of the all-time best Cup Finals of all time !!! Like these guys are all sooooo gonna give it their all, everything they got!
AKA Abandoned Mormon outpost in the Mojave Desert vs. Abandoned US Army outpost near the Everglades (what Las Vegas and Ft. Lauderdale - which the Florida Man land where the Panthers' arena is is more less a suburb of - were when the StanleyCup was created)...😂😂😂
Hello. Z here, from Riga, Latvia. Congrats to the Knights! Wow! I didn't expect actually they would do this, nice! The whole season was pretty amazing this year. And thank you @Eck for the great videos.
The Hockey Gods have a very karmic sense of justice. The Stars got Benn back after the well- deserved two game suspension, they had the game at home, had momentum on their side... and got absolutely _destroyed_ by the Knights. Eck hit the nail on the head here. It felt like the Knights were playing against the Stars practice squad with how badly Dallas did tonight. Talk about and embarrassing exit. In a way this is more painful than if Vegas had swept them in 4 games, because going into tonight's game the Stars had _hope._
I’m not mad we lost. The fact we almost came back from 3-0 says a lot and is a little concerning for the knights. This just proves benn needs to go though. But it’s the same reason the Celtics shouldn’t be ashamed either.
@@matthewmartinez6922 Yeah, the fact the Stars were able to _do better_ without Benn and then essentially disappear on the game he comes back (not to mention leaving Ottinger out to -dry- die most of last night's game) is a sign Benn, at a minimum, needs to lose his captaincy status. I don't know what was going on with Benn, but I didn't see any real leadership from him in any of the games he played against the Knights. As a Kraken fan I'm annoyed that the Stars team that managed to claws its way past us in a full 7-game series didn't show up to play against Vegas (So much for Ottinger loses a game and then wins the next one), but the brutal reality even if it was Kraken vs. Knights and Seattle had won the west conference, there's no way they would've been able to beat Florida. Panthers just seem unstoppable right now. Vegas is going to have a much harder time scoring on Bobvosky than they did against Ottinger, that much is for sure. No idea who will actually hoist the Stanley Cup, but I think we can all agree that both teams earned the right to play for it.
Vegas has been getting disrespected all season. People saying they’d miss the playoffs, they’d get upset by Winnipeg, they can’t hang with Edmonton, and Dallas will comeback. Now everyone’s picking Florida, and I get that, but Vegas has been getting disrespected all season for no reason
I get what you're saying, but not everyone was saying that. They're the no. 1 seed in the west, were the hottest team in the league since January and were at least number 2 in scoring. The only question mark was their goaltending, which has become even more solid since Hill took over(Brossoit was solid too). Their checking in all 3 zones keeps getting more relentless. Special teams are solid and clutch. What the nay sayers are overlooking is that this team is truly playing like a team with a collective mindset to follow it's process in order to win. That means no one player sticks out like a superstar does because everyone is doing their job and collectively imposing their game and will on the opponent. Yeah they have superstars. But everyone works their asses off equally. So it looks like other teams may be able to dominate them on paper, but in reality, these guys are silently dominating everyone. I'm an Oilers fan btw. The way games 5 and 6 in our series went reminded me of how the Avs dominated us last year. We'd score, get more, then the Avs' depth and hunger to win eventually took over every time. The Oilers, have talented excellent players that play together, were bested by a talented and truly excellent team. I actually can't wait for the finals. Florida and Vegas are both playing in sync and at the top of their games. I love that goaltending has become a huge factor in this year's playoffs again. It kind of got sidelined last year.
@@patienbear lol they are the deepest most defensively sound fundamentals team in hockey. Few mistakes, rarely penalized. A pleasure to watch. What a bad take
The stars had a tough choice to make. Either fight hard for a game 7 and keep playing, or just skate around for 60 minutes so they can go golfing and go to the beach
The series was over in game 2 when VGK got the 5-3 on the hand tap slashes. You knew what was happening. I like a handful of teams and 12-15 players. I have conditioned myself to watch from a place of seeing my favorite players do their thing and really stopped worrying about winning and losing. Hockey used to be different, but I want to keep watching it. I have stopped watching the NBA because officiating changes the games. Same with the last 5 minutes of the Super Bowl. Hopefully hockey remains watchable.
Contrary to the one-sided broadcasting exhibited by the ESPN announcers throughout this series, the Knights held on to win in decisive fashion. They, much like the Dallas Stars, were left with a considerable amount of egg on their faces. If VGK continues to play at this level I am confident they will get their first Stanley Cup.
Ya know people I know have said the same thing to me, but I haven't really felt it was that bad. Now I do agree if it was 6-0 Dallas they'd be on their knees for them, BUT my big question (assuming your statement is true) is why? Why would ESPN or any broadcaster be anti Vegas? I would think it would be the opposite: they are new, hip, exciting, a spectacle, everyone likes going to Vegas. Sure all the hockey fans hate them, but is that it? They are pandering to the rest of the league's fans? Casuals should like VGK. I just don't get it
I called it. I had a strange feeling ottenger was going to have a blow out. I was actually upset to see that arena last night. 1/2 the building cleared out at 4-0. It’s the last game of the season as a fan you sit in that god damn seat and cheer your team on and support a group of guys who busted there ass all year long for your city. Show some respect!
As a Stars fan, had to turn it off after the third goal. They had nothing going. The Benn return thing is smoke and mirrors, good for the haters to talk about, but this was a complete team collapse that had little to nothing to do with him. Stars just sort of show up like this sometimes and sometimes the structure and goaltending holds them in it until they get their legs and their soul into the game. And sometimes they get 6 goals put on them. Only this time there was no 'next game' to comeback and make up for it.
Dallas played amazingly without the capt Benn but gets crushed with him playing. Maybe bad blood or bad chemistry on Dallas team. Benn seemed annoyed and frustrated the whole series.
Always watching the Highlights NHL puts out, and ur Videos right after. analyzing a little bit and talking about the rough plays that are cut out of the highlight clips. Love the content!
As a Panther fan I knew who we would be playing before the 2nd period even started. The Stars just played one of the most embarrassing games I’ve seen in a minute. Looked like they didn’t even want to be on the ice.
It all started with the awful...awful decision of 91. He had the puck inches from inside his own blue line. Instead of taking it out and moving it up ice, he somehow does a brainfart and passes it back to an unsuspecting teammate who didn't see the pass. Now it stays in their zone and seconds later, 91 is chasing guys around and they score. That set the tone.
I've been a Dallas Stars fan since they came to Dallas when I was just a child, but anyone who thinks that that performance doesn't deserve a boo, gets booed. Utterly disgusting result, and for it to happen on home ice... They should all retire in shame - not really but... maybe.
Hasn’t there been questions around Jamie Benn being captain for couple years now. His best days are long gone. I laughed when the Sportsnet guys where talking him up before the game and Vegas came out and dominated them. Good riddance Benn! Non hockey play on Stone. Suspension should have been for longer….Stars would have been better off if it was and most in the dressing room knows it
Minnesota Wild megafan, Vegas light fan here. I got my best friend into hockey this playoffs with him choosing the Kraken. That round 1 win over the Avs had us both hyped, and the moment the Stars beat Seattle in round two, I was all in on Vegas. So happy to see them get revenge for both my team and my friend’s team, as well as just happy to see them get back to the finals. I know people don’t like the org itself for Vegas, and I get it, but they’re the first expansion team I remember since the last ones happened when I was 2. So to say I’m hyped after this beatdown is a bit of an understatement lol. Go Knights!
I went to this game because I was in Dallas for the summer and am getting into hockey. Thought it would be a good game. Very disappointed. I will keep cheering for my home team, go Blackhawks!
Vegas did what they needed to do. They shut out the top two lines and no matter what that 4th line did, it would no be enough to carry them all the way. Eck: The fans were not booing the team more than they were booing the choices. They basically killed off 30 seconds of clock time going into the first intermission down 3. I also thought that was ridiculous. They needed every bit of that clock time and failed to use it. It ended up no mattering but they needed to show more IMO.
I am quietly enjoying the fact that Brett Howden is going to a Stanley Cup Finals as the 2LW for Vegas not so long after he was jettisoned by the Rangers and after how Ranger fans were absolutely toxic and brutal to that kid.
The question really is whether or not Benn will remain with the Stars now. It seems this will haunt him forever. The stakes were extremely high and he ruined it for his entire team. I would think that if he stays, there will be some kind of mutiny. I know I wouldn't tolerate a captain acting like this if I was a Stars player, and I'd find a way to get that guy out of my team.
Cant wait to see the VGK vs Florida for the cup. Both teams really deserve it and its going to be a amazing series to watch. Dallas just could not match the intensity and game play of VGK. Honestly like everyone else was, I am surprised that it wasn't a clean sweep.
I wanna say as a Dallas stars fan, we will always stick with them! At the end of the game we saluted them chanted let’s go stars! No matter the result we will always stick with them
I believe that this final is going to be pretty good because you have two teams, in the panthers and golden knights, who have only made the final once prior to today. Now, we have two teams having the chance to get their first cup.
Im sad for the girl Dallas stars fan who are sad for her team who have loss I have a lot of respect for this girl who stay to encourage her team until the end
I am a Stars fan. I do not like the Golden Knights but I have to say this; the better team won this series and exposed the Stars weakness in the neutral zone.
Man Peter DeBoer has worked himself up quite the rep as the coach who will always get his squads right to the edge but ultimately not get it done. In his 3 previous stops he's gotten to the Finals 2x and conf finals 2 more times. In Jersey he was still up ad coming and got more out of that squad than anyone could. But He was the guy teams wanted to go get to be the "one to get the team over the hump" but it just hasn't worked out. Adding insult to injury, the guy they go grab to replace you in Cassidy, gets it done and will win the Cup. My 'Golden Knights to win the Stanley Cup +1750' ticket says so.
If you want to see what a real captain does, watch how VGK plays when Stone comes back. That's a real captain. Dallas just needs a real captain. They're a good team with shit leadership.
Wow what a disgraceful loss at home. I’d be really chapped if I were a Dallas fan. But Vegas obviously means business. Should be a great series with the red hot Panthers.
The type of hockey Seattle plays would have done a lot better against Vegas, would have actually made for an interesting series instead of this blowout.
Minnesota Wild to Dallas fans: "Thank god for taking Suter and signing him to a THREE YEAR contract." Dude was a MAJOR factor in them losing the series. How boneheaded moves did he make to cost them games in this series? Too many to count. The last three years even Wild fans saw him as a gigantic liability on defense before he got bought out. The playoffs just highlighted how bad he really is.
Better without Benn. Might be time for a change. Benn, the Captain, took one of the stupidest penalties Ive ever seen in game 3 by an important player. That loss was the end
This was a critical moment for Jamie Benn's career to prove that he was the face of the Stars and prove why he wore the C, and only proved he's not the captain. His lack of leadership and lack of fire in his comeback game makes the next decision easy for the team by stripping it from him and giving it to someone like Pavs who actually took a leadership role through this entire postseason and series specifically. While hindsight may be 20/20, Benn should have stayed scratched as the lineups from Games 4 and 5 had a fire of their own. Somewhat jokingly, the franchise owes the fans in attendance for Game 6 refunds for false advertisement.
That's a great stat for sure, but at the same time the way the management keeps handling their team will burn them out sooner rather than later. Their window is open for a couple more seasons at best, but then the core will no doubt get older and slower (their average age is already 28). In short, it's risky. Pietrangelo for example is doing great now, but the dude is already 33 with four more seasons with 8,8mil in cap. Contracts like these can age like milk and long runs in the playoffs will add mileage towards the players.
@@Furcapper Agreed Even though this finals will be a win-win as neither has won I’d still have to pick the Panthers though since they’re the older team
When you can't even put up a semblance of hinderance in the neutral zone and then you can't get it out of your own zone you are probably going to lose and lose badly.
Literally started with Vegas applying hard pressure on the attack while Dallas D trying to take their time breaking out and turning over the puck FIRST SHIFT of the game. Tone was set and I thought Dallas was maybe waiting for Vegas to tire out before actually playing aggressively, but no. Not sure what the deal was with the stars honestly, but they didn’t look driven or answer with any sort of fight… what a let down for their fans at home too. Great heart and hunger from Vegas, especially 4th line. Can’t wait for the finals!!!
Props to Pavelski for an impressive playoffs, but his team didn't seem to want it this time. Brutal is the correct word for this. It was rough watching
