i'll never get over how sad this was. *The Last Of Us Episode 3 Reaction* 

Us “straights” that played the game knew this was coming and I LOVED this adaptation of the source material cause it was HEAVILY hinted Bill was gay in the game but never exclusively said it but this depiction is just PERFECT. I cried sooo much too. Such a beautiful story in a shit world.

THIS EPISODE HAD ME IN A POOL OF TEARS 😭

I love that frank showed up and within ten minutes was like "I know what you are, bill"

I actually found this story so gorgeously uplifting. Obviously there's a sense of sadness, but in the absolute horror of this world, Frank and Bill getting the choice to die rather than being turned or ripped apart is really beautiful. I loved the mirroring with Ellie and Joel's relationship. How Joel's purpose is to protect and eventually come to love Ellie. How Ellie gives Joel hope and returns that love. It's just outstanding storytelling.

I was positively WRECKED by this episode. About 45 minutes in I started sobbing and didn't stop until AFTER the ep was over. Devastating and wonderful.

6:03-6:08 it’s not just food, it was anything with sugar or flour, like the pancake mix Joel mentioned. The same pancakes Sarah was gonna make for his b’day for breakfast. Also the raisin cookies her neighbor offered her, but she didn’t eat them. Joel also forgot the cake he was supposed to buy. Joel, Tommy, and Sarah all avoided sugar and flour.

I love that it was there own choice to go out the way they did. In this series, a lot of people's lives get taken from them. It is so powerful in this dangerous world that they had a different choice. That people got to have a life and have love. It makes it more powerful to me. That the human side to all of us is never really gone. ❤️ Bill and Frank in the game is awful in the heartbreaking way. I loved this so much more and made it more real to me, because Bill would change for Frank. Amazingly done by the creators❤️ Also go and watch/hear the podcast for this episode. It is amazing! I was hooked on what they were saying and the choices that were made. Amazing work❤️

it was so devasting. this episode put me at so much more ease (not the emotional part) but for the gore/horror

Frank & Bill really made me smile and cry at the same time. Their love story is so beautiful.

As much as I initially started bawling, I realized I should be happy that they get to live out their lives in love and died peacefully together in the way of their choosing.

Bill knew how to survive but frank showed him how to live. The biggest divergence of the game but they made the change for the better. It made Bill into and inspiration to Joel instead of his shadowy hateful self in the game. You may lose when you love hut you stand to gain much more if you do. This was terribly beautiful

I loved how they decided to make huge changes to truly do justice to Bill and Frank’s story. Their relationship was implied in the game but it wasn’t explored much. I appreciate how they had an episode dedicated to them. Some people (homophobes ofc) said it wasn’t necessary to do an episode on them, but as I’ve seen someone said, it was a good way to show the comparison between Joel and Bill. Bill is what Joel could have been if he had let Tess in. It would be about living rather than simply just surviving. Bill was a survivalist, but he learned how to live because of Frank. Their story was so beautiful rather than heartbreaking, I loved how they chose to end it. It was perfect. Side note: I saw someone mention this somewhere, them getting married becomes more heartbreaking when you realize that in their time in that world, gay marriage was never legalized. I sobbed again after finding this out.

I made it as far as “and you were my purpose” and then it felt like my ribs were trying to escape

I sobbed for a good 45 minutes during this episode. One of the most beautiful pieces of TV i’ve seen in YEARS.

The first thought after watching this episode was Oh... Brad's gonna be hurt so bad 😢

Brad you did so well. I,on the other hand, was indeed a puddle. I sobbed my heart out. And still feel emotionally wrecked days later. I think this episode is going to stick with me for a long, long time. But what an episode it was! One of the best I’ve ever seen. So beautiful & sad. The acting, the writing, the music, the camera work. All of it was so brilliant & breathtaking. 😢

As a cis male i will say, that i absolutely love this episode. I'll admit, that I missed Bill's and Ellie's interactions and the school action with the bloater (this still might come) but I think what we got was beautiful. kept my heart warm for days. The best love story ive seen in years.

This episode broke me. I'm still broken 3 days later. It's heartbreakingly beautiful. The writing, the cinematography, the music, the ACTING. *chef's kiss Nick Offerman said this, " Frank is the flowers and Bill is the soil" when describing how they compliment each other. In the end, Bill loved Frank like he wanted to be loved.

Some consider this episode really "heartbreaking" but no hearts were broken. This is the happiest death anyone could get in an apocalypse. You may say, the beat the apocalypse. Everyone dies eventually, there's no avoiding that (sadly) but they went out on their own terms, no one was murdered, no one was infected. They died in each other's arms while in bed after having the best day of their lives 🥲🥲, that's everything anyone could ask for in that world.

Im a massive fan of the game and they made many very drastic changes to the characters from the OG game but omg I was balling my eyes out the whole time cause this was literally perfect 😭

As a straight that loved this game, this was not only the best change from the original, it was the most incredible and beautiful change they could’ve made. It’s rare that deviating from the source makes it better but god they know how to get your heart. 12:57

I watched with my mom and dad. Mom played the game dad has no clue and I'm over in the corner silently sobbing while they were playing piano because I thought we were going to get the story from the game the angry and bitter story. Start sweet and happy and end in tragedy just like everything else. What they did do was surprise me and my mother with the most beautiful love story I've probably ever seen and it ended in peace instead of tragedy. I don't know if we ever heard Frank or Bill say the words I love you but they didn't have to. I'm gonna cry all over again if I keep going. I'm so happy that it's airing and we can all live through this story together because even those who know how it ends don't know everything about the journey and I think that's a perfect way to describe life huh?

This was such a refreshing episode for so many reasons. One of my favorite reasons, is that we don’t get to see old grizzled men be in love with each other like this, often at all. Many gays don’t even think about getting to be old with our partners like that… Many of us can’t even see that far because we were all raised to believe in some form or another, we will die young, that we will never be able to live in a relative peace that long with the love of our lives. Ive read a lot of comments of people expressing this, how it was kind of cathartic realizing… Wow! I Never thought about the possibility I may grow that old, with the love of our lives no less. They got to go on their own terms. In love and in peace, satisfied with their love and age, I love them so much.

I'm a straight right-wing Christian and this was not only my favorite episode, it absolutely broke me. There was no point that I wasn't convinced I was watching two people madly in love. It was beautiful.

I loved this ep 😭 it’s crazy to see cos you never see frank in the game, you know bill is gay cos he mentions him but there’s a whole part of the game where bill meets Ellie and their banter is unmatched cos their both sarcastic arseholes 😂 I’m sad we didn’t get to see that but I loved that we got bills back story, was fuming that bill doed too tho cos he never died in the game but I can’t lie it was a perfect ending for the episode

i was legit sobbing so hard watching this episode that i had to take breaks every other scene. but i think it’s such an important episode/representation of true love because it shows that no matter how hard it gets, or how much you hate the world, there will always be something or someone out there for you to hold out for. to make the most of it with. it’s also going to egg joel on a lot and it’s the shift from tess being his person to ellie being his person. beautiful episode, and a beautiful way to carry the story along.

At the end I was screaming at the camera to stop because if I had to see them laying together in bed I would not have survived. Thank you for sharing this!!!

This episode truly broke me. Despite everything around them, they had their little pocket of happiness. I hope to one day have the kind of love Bill and Frank had. And I hope the same for everyone else in the world.

What I really loved about this episode is that even in a apocaliptic shit reality, Bill and Frank managed to choose how they wanted to live their lives, and in the end how they wanted to go. It's a privilege that almost anyone in this universe doesn't have

It was so well done. The game version of Bill is almost like his alternate ending if he doesn’t allow himself to let go of the anger and loneliness. Such a great adaptation and I adore the game. Really good artistic licence. Glad people are loving it so much

The actually fans aren't up in arms! This relationship was made clear in the game through Joel's flashbacks while he and Ellie run around the neighborhood looking for a battery. It just wasn't drawn out like this. There's a lot of gays in this game heehee

Not sure if you realised - 2003 was before marriage was legalised for gay people anywhere in the US (Massachusetts where Boston is was the first state in 2004). So for these two men, they were never able to marry legally, but chose to on their own terms anyway. So sweet. 😭

I’m not sure if someone’s said it yet, but Bill and Frank were a couple in the game (which came out in 2013). Only we never see Frank alive in the game, by the time Ellie and Joel reach Bill, Bill is still alive but Frank has left him after a falling out between the two. Later, the trio ends up finding Frank’s body in a nearby house and Joel reads a note from Frank, saying that he left Bill because “he was stuck in his ways” and that Frank hated Bill’s guts by the end of their relationship. So a super sad ending in the game! But hey, the show did a fantastic job of rewriting their story to be more meaningful. ❤

The fact that bill and frank also lived through the aids crisis as young men makes the line "older means we survived" have an added weight to it.

This was filmed beautifully, showing the ups and downs of a real relationship. I knew this show would make me cry but the story they did for Bill and Frank damm ended me. I find it hilarious and fascinating that you said they turned up the gay to a 100% real fast :D To be fair, we don't know Frank's past, but this is Bill's first human interaction in 4 years

I love this episode for so many reasons but foremost, the beginning shows the stark reality of people who have lost their humanity. In the middle of this, it show 2 unlikely people who found love and shows the audience the beauty of love, hope, and restoring humanity.

bill and frank were gay in the game too, so it's not like the showrunners pulled this out of nowhere. i really loved their story and i think it was executed without pandering to any sort of political crowd.

Little bit of knowledge: Clickers are the ones who are almost fully fungused. If they have the shrooms completely consumed their head so they can't see, they are clickers. If the can see, like the two towards the begining of this episode, and only have some fungus growing out of their head and can still see, they are Stalkers (e.g. Tess was kissed by a stalker last ep) awesome vid as always! xx

this episode literally had me emotionally FUCKED till tuesday like i was a MESS😭😭😭😭randomly bursting into tears throughout the days😭😭😭 Edit: Also the last of us is pretty gay so have fun lolololol

The food supply thing was very big because in the first episode it was very noticeable that Joel did not eat anything made of flour: new diet, they were out of bagels for breakfast, he forgot to buy the cake, did not eat the cookies from the neighbor, etc. We (as in the internet) had 2 weeks theorizing that the fungus was in the flour. When our theories got confirmed in episode 3 we were so happy we figured it out.

I hate you for not crying during this episode. This one broke me. I assumed you would melt into a pile of tears. You disappoint me sir.
