The singer/bassist is the late John Wetton who played with King Crimson, Uriah Heep, Wishbone Ash and others. The other guys, Geoff Downes (keyboards) and Steve Howe (guitarist) came from Yes and drummer, Carl Palmer came from Emerson, Lake and Palmer. They were basically a supergroup.

3 Yrs ago I went to a Yes/Asia concert... The opening act was Carl Palmer doing the music of Emerson Lake and Palmer with Arthur Brown acting as the front man... Then John Lodge did the songs of Moody Blues... Then Carl came back and did a full set with Asia... the man was 69-70 and he played the heck out of those drums for two sets... he's in great shape... there are a lot of men half his age that don't have that kind of endurance.

I so much enjoy you guys sharing your reactions. I am a huge fan. Being 52 years old, I can recall waiting for just the right song to come on with a cassette loaded in the tecnics sereo system that occupied the top of my bedroom dresser. just hoping the radio dj didn't talk too long at the beginning or ending of the song and hoping the recording levels were p to par, the tape ran smoothly and all that. What a brilliant time to be alive that really was. I think this is one of the most bombastic of all 80's songs. The whole arrangement is theatrical and over the top just like being alive was, back in the day. you know what else it was? Vulnerable! Damn 80s musical artists were vulnerable! Innocent AF. SO DAMNED HONEST with themselves. I see today's youth as tremendously guarded hiding behind sweatshirt hoodie and ipods and running scared. Not that I blame them. They have 10x the awareness of imperfections in society as I did as a youth. They are doing what youg people do surviving until adulthood, surviving until they have a voice. Watching and calculating. In the 80's people just put it all out there recklessly, yet theatrically.. lWithout this channel I would have never made this connection or felt motivated to share. Praise God for youtube and for ROB SQUAD.

Each time I hear these two songs, perhaps more than any other songs from my childhood, they pull back in time with such strength and longing, to some quiet magical space in the clouds just above the neon and the city streets. I was a pop chart kid so these two songs of Asia's are pretty much all I have ever heard from the band, but these two songs were more than enough to make me love Asia for the rest of my life! 82 crew!💖

The singer (and bass guitarist) is the late John Wetton. Great singer, great songwriter, great musician. If you like the drummer on this song, check out his solo with ELP at the California Jam. Carl Palmer is not just as good a drummer as has ever played, but an amazing showman, too.

40 years! Written by the late John Wetton and Geoff Downes. Produced by the late Mike Stone. Supergroup. Members of King Crimson, Uriah Heep, Yes, Emerson , Lake and Palmer. This is an 80s song: the year 82 appears in the 2nd verse. RIP Mike Stone and John Wetton. Suggested next video: Only Time Will Tell.

Great song! Great Band! John Wetton on vocals and Bass, Carl Palmer on Drums, and Steve Howe on Guitar, Geoff Downes on Keyboard. They were a Rock Supergroup. You got ripped off, however, you got connected to a really short version of the song. Kudos to both of you for playing this band!

Asia is a "supergroup" that includes original members: The late JOHN WETTON (King Crimson, UK, Wishbone Ash): Lead vocals, bass Steve Howe (Yes): Guitar Geoff Downes (Yes, The Buggles): Keyboards Carl Palmer (Emerson, Lake and Palmer): Drums This was from 1982. The debut album that this appears on is close to a perfect album. Other songs from that album include singles "Only Time Will Tell" and "Soul Survivor". Deep album cuts worth listening to: "Hear Comes the Feeling"; "Cutting it Fine". My recommendation is to also look back at their other works: Yes, ELP, King Crimson.

Asia are an English rock supergroup formed in London in 1981. The most commercially successful line-up was its original, which consisted of four members of different progressive rock bands that had enjoyed great success in the 1970s: lead vocalist and bassist John Wetton of King Crimson and U.K., guitarist Steve Howe of Yes, keyboardist Geoff Downes of Yes and the Buggles, and drummer Carl Palmer of Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Their debut album, Asia, released in 1982, remains their best selling album and went to number one in several countries. The lead single from the album, "Heat of the Moment", remains their top charting and best-known song, reaching the top 40 in over a dozen markets and peaking in the U.S. at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.

Marty, a fellow music student of mine in college in California in the 80s, was taken by a friend of his to a house in LA. He had no idea where he was going til he got to the house and realized the house belonged to Geoff, the keyboard player. He said they played til 3 in the morning. It was the greatest experience in his life, bloody fingers and all.

The part in the middle that Jay thought was a tambourine was actually the High Hat keeping the tempo. The song came out in 1982. If you listen to the lyrics you hear him sing “Now you find yourself in 82’”.

Steve Howe from Yes,Carl Palmer from Emerson,Lake and Palmer and John Wetton from King Crimson's epic mid 70's era...a true supergroup of prog rock icons. The keyboardist,Geoff Downes, didn't quite have that pedigree, but he's still out there doing his thing today. He and Howe are both in the current Yes lineup. Saw one of their very first stateside shows at Painters Mills Star Theater in Ownings Mills Maryland and still have a close to mint copy of the debut album autographed by the band members from a meet and greet at a local record store earlier that day.
