In today's video we're trying this weird ingredient to see if it changed my soap recipe. We're making cold process soap for the retail shop! How did this weird additive affect my cold process soaping recipe? Stay tuned to find out.
Did you use titanium dioxide to create swirls? If so that's more than likely the culprit not the tussa silk. I am assuming I am seeing glycerin rivers in your soap. My monitor isn't that clear. Also you can add sodium lactate or table salt dissolved in your lye solution to make a harder firmer bar and it allows you to unmold faster and easier in my opinion. Maybe you can do an experiment using 2 different color micas and creating the swirl also adding tussa silk to see what happens. The only difference I see in my soaps using tussa silk is that it causes my soap to have a nice slip which I absolutely love. Thank you for a great video. I am constantly learning 😊
I couldn't see what colorant you were using for the green. If it was not soap safe, it would discolor harshly. That's what it looks like happened there, but there are so many variables.
I use tussah silk in every batch I make - this is most likely a not CP safe color in #1, then #2 is FO - the glycerine rivers are maybe too high water % or they over heated. I have several of those silicone molds - I pull the sides away to let air in then let them sit a bit longer, they still can smoosh the edges (even with sodium lactate).
