This has been so adorable and wholesome and I love it. I'm so happy to see light hearted LGBTQ+ content, as most I have come into contact with are quite trauma heavy and can turn dark very quickly. This show makes me so weirdly giddy and I love it!

Nick is definitely more concerned about hurting Charlie by keeping their relationship a secret. He doesn’t want to be like Ben. You can tell by how he immediately cringed when Charlie mentioned the comparison in the classroom. Nick was always very concerned about Charlie’s feelings and his well-being, even before they got together romantically, and that’s always his top priority. You’ll see this come up more in the next episodes (and definitely more in the next seasons, based on how the comics go).

It’s a hotel. When Harry invited Nick, he did say it was at St. George’s Hotel, his birthday party, but yeah, super rich to basically have most of that hotel to have a 16 year old’s birthday party

I had a friend in my late 20s that I spent every spare moment with. One day over a cup of coffee I told them I was starting to get fuzzy feelings for them. They said they wanted to stay friends and that's what we did. We're close friends to this day. Married to our own people and in our early 40s. No regrets. It took me a little bit to get over my feelings of course but because we were close we could be open and honest and still love each other to this day.

With all reaction videos for this show, I want to dive in front of episode 7 like I’m taking a bullet for them. Tonally, it’s very different from the rest of the episodes, but the conflict is necessary for the payoff after. And episode 8 has evoked some very emotional reactions in people all the way up to the last few scenes, so either go with industrial grade waterproof eye makeup, or just expect to spend the rest of the day as the poster child for emo raccoon realness. Looking forward to seeing your reaction to the second half of the series. Stay safe and be well. 🙏🤗

Great reaction! I do feel like you're missing a lot by looking away when there's no dialogue, though. Especially in the first couple of episodes, so much of Nick's story is in his facial expressions and body language. BUT I respect that this is your format and your makeup is 🔥🔥🔥

Eps 5 & 6 are fab, you’ll love them! Bring a punching bag or emotional support plush for ep 7. Definitely bring tissues for ep 8, you’ll cry your makeup off, but for all the right reasons 🥰

I'm gay and I've had a few awkward experiences where someone assumed I was straight. I was in a night club once and had lost my friends. I went to get a drink and there was a girl in the queue who looked alone and quite upset. We got talking and about an hour later she got the wrong impression and went in for a kiss. I've never felt so awkward turning someone down. I said I was gay and had a boyfriend but you could see on her face that she thought I was just saying it because I didn't like her. We both sort of froze for a moment and then went out separate ways. That was tough

I absolutely love the irony of you reacting to all the times Nick and Charlie apologise and then at the end you apologise for your make up when you really have nothing to apologise for. You mentioned Armie Hammer ... he was totally mis-cast in 'Call Me By Your Name'. I thought that long before the scandal involving him was made public. It needed a younger actor (maybe 22/23) to play the part of Elio's love interest. That would have been more realistic and believable.

Yeah, it's also more book accurate to have an actor that age than Armie who was...too old for the character. Oliver is like 23-24ish in the book.

Charlie's PE jumper is different from his normal school jumper :) He wears extra layers a lot because he has an eating disorder.

The show makes very subtle hints after several events that are stressful for Charlie... and you can easily miss them. Its actually earlier in the show than the books (if you don't count falling asleep beside your crush on a sofa). The books start hinting at Charlie's ED late Vol. 2... the shows equivalent is ep.7.

Yeah, there are subtle hints throughout the series, like early on when Charlie is staring at his uneaten cereal, but I'm expecting it to be more explicit in season two.

I think heartstopper will ruin other shows for me. Now the fast build up and heartwarming simplicity seems like the default. No more 3 seasons just for the 2 people to even acknowledge their feelings for each other. No over the top drama and kisses interrupted and caught. It's just so easy and fun to watch.
