If consider coast of the car, supercharged gt’s are 50/100k, A ba to FG xr6T range from 10 to 40k So Barra is still king for the minute Nothing sounds as nice as a v8 👌👌
I actually don't know how to answer this. I think you can reach 11s with a turbo barra cheaper as a whole than you can with a Coyote. If you're starting from scratch! So for cost my vote is on the Barra. You can get an XT falcon for 500 bucks, Pick up a green or red Barra motor for maybe the same if you shop around, A cheap turbo kit for like 2 grand, Another grand on an exhaust system, Tune it for a grand and you're pretty much there. Its not hard to run speed with a T-Barra, But doing that from scratch with a V8? A boss? It's hard to even buy one now let along build it up. But being a Barra man myself.... And you probably know this. I want what the GT's have, Because you just cannot beat a V8 with a good ol manual box.
60k buy in price+ tune vs 10k+ 10k-15k mods for the same in a barra. The barra has the rep for slaying drag times but its real appeal is the cost to run 500hp mine was 10k+12k mods so they will never be a new barra, sure the coyote's are fast and make easy power but the price will always mean its never coming close to being a barra. Still a mad platform though
@@mex351 Did you miss my point where im saying the appeal is bang for buck? Thats what makes the motor legendary. Its not about my car makes x tune only. Your "tune only build" still cost 3x my car, let me throw 60k at my barra and we can compare apples to apples $-$
@@lasersharks my Coyote/Miami (the one in this video actually) has cost me $40k in total. Most of that was buying the car. I didn't buy it to be the big dick swinger, but to tick off a bucket list car.
I’ve never lost a quick light to light battle against any v8 in my xr6t They are quicker out the box quicker with simple mods and quicker fully modified. Love flogging mustangs but the supercharged falcons usually put up more of a fight off the mark. No debate
The auto xr6t's are hard to beat off the mark, I had an auto 600hp-odd BF turbo and the only cars that bested me in the years I owned it from 2010-2016 were GTR's.
The mighty GTR Yep i use to lose to R32s and 33s in my 180sx in the late 90s but when i moved to nth qld in 2000 you wouldn’t see too many skylines until mid 2000s up here so I can’t really say my falcons have lost to any The later model skylines are a class of their own these days but I’d still hava crack in the ole FG
@@GapSauceRU-vid My x4V clevo xd went 11.88 118mph. My NA xflow xf ute went 11.5 120.8mph. Clevo sounded waaaaaay better but I like the xflow more. Currently its in the final tuning stages of a rebuld for a turbo but I made sure it wasn't like the rest.
@@mex351 Alright.. I need to know more haha. Would you be happy happy share some specs on the engines? I'm building a 351c with hand ported 302 2v cc heads currently. And I cut my teeth onnthe 4L SOHC's 🙂
Let the debate begin Hahaha it's always about best bang for ya buck, we all agree which sounds better but cost wise the Barra still has it in the bag for HP to $$$
Coyote would be in 90% of Ford owners cars if the price and supply were equal to that of the barra 6. I think the argument of which is more cost effective probably comes down to what the owner wishes to achieve as a final outcome I love my boss and plan on keeping it forever but if I tripped over a Coyote whilst out for a walk and it were in as good condition or better than my boss I'd swap it without a second thought. Given that's unlikely to happen when the boss gets tired I might just do an angry NA build regardless of value or cost effectiveness.
@@plumbs7199 Absolutely. I love the sound of his very grumpy boss. tho where I live I wouldn't make it to the end of my street before being defected unfortunately. A lot of people will disagree but I think out of all the "common" v8s in Aus made in the last 15 - 20yrs that the 5.4 Boss when done right sounds as good or better than any. Before 2000 I think the old 308/304/5ltr takes the cake when done right. Most are all bark and no bite but that bark sounds awesome.
@@doug-core8850 Agreed. You can get a Zilla from the States for about $6000 less than a KenneBell supercharger kit for the 5.4. It has definitely made me weigh my options for the future.
@@keepitmashed7402 I answered what u wrote, changing what you say as you go along. Barras dont come out with huge turbos either, I'm not going there point proven 👍
It's all about the cold air. Decent intercooling. The rest is no prob. While the barra's an awesome engine it will never sound like an 8. The US guys have these @5L making well over 3000hp at the axles. I'd say this is a moot debate. They will both make more power than any street car can handle or driver can drive. One of each is probably best.
I think the best thing to do is slam a KB on there with their intercooler.. manufacturers have the fsctory charger intertercoole market by the balls and charge for it accordingly 😅
Coming from a guy in the states, the LTx and LSx platform is alot more user friendly, cheap to build and alot more common here in the states then the coyote stuff. Plus they don't really sound good. I think the barra sounds heaps better and its a unique platform compared to the coyote.
I gotta say Coyotes are damn impressive N/A or boosted, probably downside is cost or maybe their bulk but if you can fit one and have some spare coin then hell yeah 👌🏼💯 *little trivia:* when the ‘Coyote’ was originally designed it’s name plate was going to be ‘Hurricane’ which gave you an insight into its potential. The reason for the name change was the string of devastating hurricanes that hit regions in or around the U.S, like Katrina, 2005.

@@brettwarren3429 yeah wanna get onto it quick too. I was there the night that fella in the white GS snapped his shaft or something in that area. Was like last year i think.
Lots of documented low k coyote failures from the factory, many Ford not wanting to foot the bill. Can't remember hearing similar from a barra. Maybe new generation coyotes are sorted. I remember there was a time the manufactures would bend over backwards to help the consumer out through warranty. Now its the consumer bending over....
Sadly, it is the consumer who bends over these days. The Aussie spirit is slowly diminishing, let's just hope there are enough genuine people left to keep it alive going forward. We have an amazing country here, and we should all be proud and do our part. Oil pump gears are probably the most common failure for the coyote, but same for the barra. Both very stout engines and definitely demand respect.
No , you can't build a coyote for $2500.00 long block ( 2ND HAND TURBO RODS AND SLUGS ) and get 700 flywheel hp ! Great motor but so much more expensive to get HP out of mho! Turbos only cost $300 to $1000 ( gen 2 clone) . How much for the factory herrod supercharger and upgrades ?
Dont forget to spend the money you saved on upgrading the rest of the driveline or that cheap motor is gonn a break something and cost you even more... We've already got stronger bits from factory in these miami's.
For out of the box with a tune and airfilter change Miami has to be the best dollar vs kw gain out of the 2. After that well its all just money and gains of 2 different style motors.
True, Miami gives best bang for buck out of the 2 motors with the basic mods. A mate’s 315 ute gained 100rwKw (on a Mainline) with a K&N filter, cat back system & tune.
@@Jeff-rm4uh 100 mate. End of the day both motors are great stock form and minimal mods do really well. Great to keep it that way for most punters. But when it comes to serious power they all cost big money. Personally i love v8s more but enjoyed the barra turbo i had. It really showed how poor they released the boss platform from factory. In saying that i sold my barra and not the boss.
The last thing a major maufacturer is for their mills exploding onto the asphalt. If i was a coyote engineer id want that donk back to the lab and on the autopsy table quick smart.
the charged coyotes are no joke. big power from low effort. problem is engine is rare and super expensive compared to the barra so it will never be real popular
gap sauce your ba GT sound's awesome and it is quick but sorry mate when it comes to REAL horsepower and speed bang for buck you can't go past a barra AUSSIE MADE POWER
Totally bias Coyotes eat Barra period Bang for buck Barra wins Cos to get into coyote you gotta buy a Mustang (gen 2 is the benchmark Miami doesn’t count low comp weak internals) So 15/17 Mustang vs any turbo Barra car The Barra needs bigger injectors and turbo to equal the 15/17 Mustang stock To equal what I have in my Mustang you could totally track ready a XR turbo with 600+kw and smoke my 380rwkw n/a Mustang At this point coyote takes over 600+kw on stock internals on gen2 is a walk At 600+kw both camps spend about the same So for us street guy’s “Run what ya brung “ Blake proves the theory “Do the best you can with what you have” Cos he’s smoking both of us with a 5.4 💪😎👍💥🚀
Where did you hear the miami has weak internals? Mate of mine just blew his gen 3 and he doesn't even drive his stang anywhere near as hard as i do my GS. Only problems i have are falcon chassis and driveline problems.
@@doug-core8850 Hi Doug Miami has the same sintered metal rods as gen 1 there good but run 9.25:1 to be safe at 335 kw compared to gen 2 325kw without supercharger and 11:1 Gen 3s have weak cylinder walls ect My gen 2 regular sees over 8000 rpm and makes 350 + rwkw n/a Not hating on Miami s There not weak just not as strong as a gen 2 coyote
@@danielash9834 it was designed for boost mate. Hence the low compression. You're aware prodrive changed many parts from the standard gen 1's right? Theres a very good reason why they didn't change anything about the internals in its 6 year production run. You also dont see the guys at premcar changing out any of the internals for newer gen parts, no point. And they know it since they built the things in the first place, 483rwkw and it only needed an upgraded power steering pump for the higher revs.
@@doug-core8850 That sounds about right Doug 463 rwkw on a Miami is still safe go north of 500 rwkw not so safe yet a gen 2 at 500 rwkw has 11:1 Plenty of gen 2’s live at 600 rwkw Stock bottom end A hand full of Miami’s could but for how long? Miami is good Coyote gen 2 is great 💪😎👍
@@danielash9834 fg chassis and driveline parts go bang long before anything in a 500rwkw miami will go pop. Ah good old falcons hey haha Honestly tho, you're underestimating the changes the legendary prodrive made to the gen 1 for the miami, along with the simple fact it has the tiny 1.9 How financially deep are you into your 380rwkw na build if you dont mind me asking?
While I'll admit low 11's aren't exactly groundbreaking in 2021.. There aren't alot of cars from 2010 that will go 11.3@122+ on just a tyre and a tune. Especially not for the money the owner paid for this one.
V8s will always sound better, barra owners are a special bunch frothing over something that other car manufacturers accomplished 20 years before the barra turbo.
