I was just thinking this. In the beginning it definitely was but now its a Lud game.

it still kinda is due to RNG etc. You dont really get better at Battleship over time, if the opponents are different. Someone with 30 minutes of experience in Battleship can beat someone with 1000+hours in Battleship at practically equal chances

@@mike7546 the shapes arent that complex and the abilities are quite straightforward. Heck, you could already make complex shapes with the oldest version of battleship and bait your opponent in hitting a lot of blanks, while you could strategically hit your opponent during that time, meaning you could take down your opponent before they could take you down by simply baiting them into thinking you were dumb. There is no real time limit either, so plenty of time to read up or even ask Ludwig about something. The vast majority of the Battleship outcome is thinking where your opponent would hit. Battleship, even with the added features online, is still a game you could master in an hour.

The shapes and powers in battleship change it from a like 90% RNG to like 10% RNG it is a massive difference. The size of the field and ships alone makes it easy to narrow down shots and it only gets worse when powers are added to narrow that down further. If you play any strategy games and resource management games you should have a good understanding of how small changes can dramatically change the outcome of the game.
