Will this be published in a Schuyler-quality goat skin edition?

Oh no 😲 The pics were what I was looking forward to... I think you maybe the only one to make that distinction... Please let us know if the new NKJV has it... Also HOW MANY pics have been excluded I wonder?

I also really liked the illustrations too. Hope they bring them back or create some updated versions of those in the future.

There are very few differences between the NKJV Thompson & the brand-new NIV, e.g., no archaeology section, book intros in front of their respective books, etc.

I don’t know. I liked the nostalgia of the older edition. I hope they keep printing it. It just doesn’t have a Thompson look to it. It looks nice but too modern.

Thanks for a great review. I had purchased this to replace my old edition thinking I would donate it. While there is still a lot of good content on nicer paper, I was disappointed that many of the old illustrations were gone. So I will keep both editions.

I feel exactly the same way. Love this new, streamlined look but am disappointed the visual illustrations we're mostly removed. I have found those very helpful in previous editions.

The style of the Thompson chain from previous edition was like a pop up book , you just kept finding neat things in the study helps . But the new edition- really looks great. I refer to the NIV as a comparison translation with the 5 others I use if studying for a lesson. ( my “go to” bible the NKJV MacArthur and the TCRSB). However, this is probably the best format for study and the best thing that could happen for the NIV. Will I get one? Yes, in large print.

*Hello. I've recently watched several RU-vid documentary videos of discovery of the buried city of Sodom & Gomorrah! IT'S VERY FASCINATING & EXCITING!!!! I checked in the archeology portion of my Kirkbride NASB 1993 Thompson Chain...and unfortunately, (under Sodom & Gomorrah) there are no photos of the Sulfer-Brimstone balls or any of the other interesting finds in back portion of the Thompson Chain. *I was wondering if any of the more updated bibles have any photos or interesting finds of Sodom & Gomorrah are in there. I surely hope there is! If anyone has an updated Thompson...let me know! 😇 Blessings*

This is a beautiful bible. Since this is the first time seeing the bible "opened", it does have a significant "see through" - is that normal for most bibles? Thanks for the review. GmaJo

I was waiting for your review. Previous 9.5 fonts from NIV were too small. What do you think about this one?
@AFrischPerspective
@AFrischPerspective 2 года назад
They've corrected the measurements from what I can tell, and I believe this is what one would expect of a 9.5 font.

So did Zondervan merely buy the trademark and intellectual property of BB Kirkbride, namely the TCR without buying BB Kirkbride? Does the print tire your eyes, Mr Frisch?
@RoastBeefSandwich
@RoastBeefSandwich 2 года назад
I don't think Kirkbride exists any more. Zondervan bought the TCR from the company as it was going under is what it looks like.

So do I, but most people didn't care about it apparently. Honestly the various archaeology study bibles (and the Holy Land Illustrated Bible) is probably a better option than this for archaeological information, but the fact that they didn't even TRY (and cited "it would be too expensive and too time-consuming to update" as a reason) is just disappointing. It seems like they excelled in terms of layout and really skimped on everything else. Couldn't they have commissioned new drawings/illustrations to replace what they took out? They had a year. I guess that was expensive too.
@balaamsass5540

@@caomhan84 Honestly, it's probably a nostalgia thing for me. When I was a kid in an Assembly of God church, I would read through my mom's TCR instead of listening to the pastor. It kept me from soaking in too much Pentecostalism and gave me a passion for the Bible and history.

My main Bible is the 1979 version of the NIV. I have the 1984 revised version but I prefer the original. Haven’t seen the 2011

It is nothing like the Original. There are missing items, but, Church Book Distributors has the Original Kirkbride, which Mr. Thompson would approve of. If he were alive, Zondervan would never have been given the rights to do what they did to his Study Bible, but, we are in The Last Day's where anything goes to make a buck. Many will purchase this believing they are getting the original and finding they are not. There was no need to change anything or to remove the Archaeology Section completely, unless you are trying to make sure the evidence that God's Word is THE ONLY TRUTH is called into question....Go Woke...Go Broke! I have already alerted my Church Friends to beware of Zondervan as a reliable company.
