It seems that all new tiers seem to struggle with quantity of the materials they use. Here i am trying to show it on thorax. How small amount can actually be more than enough. Hope you will like this one.... Best wishes... Vladimir
By far the best instructional video. I love the attention to detail. So here are the things that I highlighted that I'm doing wrong: 1) I've been using FAR too much CDC (Generally a whole feather instead of half) 2) When creating a dubbing loop I've been putting the material too far down the loop making me take extra wraps to get my material in position 3) I would add the CDC in a loop tie it off and then make a rope of dubbing material. Now I will create the rope on one side of the dubbing loop 4) I was putting FAR too much dubbing material Thank you so much for the video
Thanks for this comment. It points out exactly the reason why i made the video. I saw people struggle with these things and i remembered i did as well. Its was surprising for me when i first realised that fish will in general rather pick slim and sparse from too bulky.. M
Thanks for thinking of things so subtle that many of us do not think of till someone points it out. Well done, looking forward to all you produce in 2021
Happy new year. Another excellent video, with some very well explained ideas. I’ve enjoyed your videos through 2020, so looking forward to more in 2021.
Thank you Matthew, glad to hear that. I hope i will keep up posting quality videos.... Sometimes its challenging, job, small baby.... But i love doing it and i am looking forward to recording more. I just hope to post more fishing videos 😃😃😃
Hi Vladi, I found your video just as I started to prepare a new box for a Vaal river trip. This has helped tremendously....I can see see the difference immediately! My flies are much less bulky and better defined. Warm greetings from South Africa!
Glad to hear that. Some little thingscan make a huge difference 👍👍🍻 Your fellow countryman wrote recently a wonderful book about tying... The feather mechanic... Great read.
Watched this just after another vid emphasizing thinning out materials: changed my whole approach to tying EVERYTHING, perdigons to intruders. Many thanks!
Thankyou sir.So appreciate your techniques.Especially the dubbing loop combo hackle fiber/prepared dubbing.Very realistic and durable.Looking forward to the next one.Thankyou.
How many “passes” through a hole where you are unsure if it contains a fish would you send your nymph before switching nymphs or moving to another place to fish?
Hi Vladi Happy New Year, best wishes for happiness and health. Thanks for the video, but unfortunately it came out without the possibility of subtitles …😢😢😢
Thank you so much. I wish you a very happy new year and to all your family too. I tried to see whats happening but it seems that subtitles are ok, i can turn them on... Are you watching on the phone?
Great looking fly 🪰, Thank you for the tips, do you ever attach your hackel while winding your post. Have a great day and thanks for sharing your talents 👍
Sorry I was watching your new video on Red parachute. I have auto play on and I didn't realize I was not in same video. I was wondering when tying parachute flies do you add the hackel with the posting. Material when tying the post.
@@newflyrod1 i assumed you watched it. I like to make post first.... Same as in this video.... Later when i ads hackle i actually reinforce the post additionally. Thats the main reason i do it this way
Goood video, as always, thanks! What’s about splitting the thread instead of making a dubbing loop? Split-thread-thorax is a bit neater in my opinion. What do you think?
Thank you my friend. This one is super thin, 18/0 its pain to split 😃😃 otherwise its the same.... Unless one makes loop with thick thread.... Which would be a mistake
@@cpmorris1001 i do split utc 70den pretty often. I prefer dubbing loop with it because its stronger.... If i use GSP i can do split thread.. I use split thread with UTC if i use less material in the split thread.... In thag case less twists i need to secure materials. If i use thin (18/0) GSP i can do both. But dubbing loop is preferable. Not easy to split thin threads. Does this answer your question? I am asking because i am not sure i correctly understood first part of your question. Cheers Vladimir
I hate UTC 70 thread it snaps on me about every three minutes and gets frayed very very easily and it’s an absolute headache to use but it’s all I have in olive colour
