Walk around (and in) the THORparts H3. I get a lot of questions on this H3 so I made this vid to highlight some of the features of my build, including bumpers, solid front axle, and spring-over rear axle. -4SF
8 years later and they don’t make basic lift kits anymore for this truck this is a super sick truck RESPECT earned!!!!! Bro update a video would love to see it as is now!!!!!
Thanks. Since this vid, I have upgraded to a custom hi-pinion D44 housing. I've done some other mods but, all very minor. I have built a dozen or so of these H3 SAS/SOA rigs since then. Each one is slightly different from the previous one. You can find most of them here on YT.
hahaha i laughed when i saw the electrical take on your hood louver holes, i have the same thing haha, i had to put tape because i noticed on rainy days the water on the belt would cause it to squeak, nice ride
I put a big dent in my hood while climbing out the sunroof, to do an extraction. It was right where the louver was. So instead of fixing it with bodywork and paint...I just reinstalled the louver to cover up the dent.
Very nicely done I wish it was a lot easier and upgrades were available I like my h3 alpha but I’m gonna be selling it and getting rubicon all because there’s not much I can do to it unless going this route by swapping it all
I have bee watching the mods you have done and i love it i have a 07 h3 i love going off road but i do need to lift and beef up mine and was wondering if you can send me a list of everything i would need to get and do to make mine as close to yours as possible it would be nice to have all the other off roaders look at mine and be somewhat jealous of how high and strong mine is any help you can provide will be great thanks your rig is very nice im glad i found your channel
I assume you mean on the highway? H3's with the 5-cylinder are grossly underpowered. They do okay until you get into the hills/mountains, then they downshift and rev thru the roof. Big tires make the issue even worse. Unfortunately the stock front axle cannot be geared any lower than 4.56, (another reason to convert to a solid axle). PCMofNC can tune your chip to help with the downshifting.
do you get any leakage through the doors when you submerge? Do you have stock door seals? also for your solid axle conversion, where did you get it done?
Thanks! We make the ABS compatible brake parts in house. We also make the frame plates and axle bracketry. Everything else we purchase from other 4WD parts sources (Ballistic Fab, Ruff Stuff, etc.).
Was gonna ask if you had to re-gear for tires, but then seen you went to totally not stock setup. Just bought a h3 a few days ago and trying to find out if I have to re-gear for 35” tires
Unfortunately, you cannot re-gear the stock front axle any lower than 4.56. If yours is a 5-cylinder, then you are already running 4.56 gears. If its an Alpha, it has 4.10 gears from the factory. Many Alpha owners regear from 4.10 to 4.56 when installing 35" tires, and this works well....but for 5-cyl. guys....you're stuck with 4.56s.
Mines a 5cylinder Frankenstein package it seems, it came with base models tires on chrome rims, it has the lockers, cloth seats, but monsoon sound system, chrome grill, mirrors and door handles🤷🏼♂️
so how does the sas work if h3s are all wheel drive all the time, I'm just not sure how it works , I have the h3 alpha , it has push button hi/lo /lo locked 4wd, so how do you adapt that to a sas?
THORparts no longer makes this front bumper. We do make a slightly updated version but, we are sold-out right now. Tariffs, Viruses, and riots...delaying production.
More like 5.5". The spring-over-axle on the rear will give net 7.5" if you leave the stock hanger brackets in place...so I cut them off and welded-on some aftermarket hangers that are much shorter, to get the total rear lift down to 5.5". On the front...its totally adjustable but, the minimum is probably around 5" due to the axle tube-to-frame rail clearance.
