Threading oversized barrel. Tap & Die, Annular Cutter. Flash hiders ONLY. Type 81 VZ58. Read below

Note: this is best suited for A1 and A2 birdcage and others with large exit holes flash hiders rather than muzzle brakes which typically has smaller exit holes. The larger exit holes would not impede the bullet should the threading isn't absolutely straight so check prior to use.
For M14 thread. Annular Cutter Kit is 0.545.
This is not for novices so if you're unsure of your ability to do the modification then best to take it to a qualified gunsmith.
When using the Annular Cutter apply pressure evenly so best not hold by the handle, just press the button with one hand and apply pressure to the top (vertical to the cutter) with the other.

First off I'd like to say awesome job with the barrel work. For future reference on the tapping, you can go more then 3 degrees between back offs, a quarter turn or more will usually be fine and you can tell by watching the metal curl in the die as you cut it. Also, it looked like a tapered die, so after you get your length with taper threading first, I've gone back afterwards and threaded the die on backwards with taper end up, that'll clean up all the thread for full length. Overall looks awesome!!!

thanks for the tip but the reason why i backed of early was bcos i felt resistance and also i felt the cheap die might snap, lol.

"slop" in guide rod to bore, guide rod to cutter, and tolerance of cutter itself are all additive. Add that to tolerance of bore guide for die and die itself means you have A LOT of additive tolerances that could all add up to bite you in the ass. Also, buying cheapest possible tooling from Amazon probably doesn't help either. The longer the device from the muzzle the more likely a bullet strike because you CANNOT get dead nuts concentric with bore axis using this method.
@Quality_Guru

Thanks for the intel. What is the purpose of the jam nut? I have a M14x1 LH AK whose threads go right up to the front sight post. Does jam nut help support concentricity with the barrel by provide a 360 degree shoulder?
@gnutzguy
@gnutzguy 2 месяца назад
To ensure proper timing of your muzzle devices, you need either a jam nut or a locking pin to hold it in place except for A1 birdcage which does not need to be timed.

the regular sks (no idea with yugo m59) muzzle is 14.3 mm and 5/8" is too big . you need a die and annular cutter same as me. i would only recommend birdcage flash hiders unless you checked the straightness. if absolutely straight then you may use brakes.

If the threading alignment tool is to spec and fits snugly in the bore, and the die is of good quality, plenty of cutting oil is used, and some care is taken to complete the job, then the threads are nice and crisp and concentric to the bore. A smith isn’t going to be “way more accurate”. It’ll be a hair more accurate, and not enough to matter. More men need to learn how to do some things themselves instead of always paying another man to do everything for them. Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty and don’t be scared of failure. Upgrade your masculinity and learn some new skills. It’s satisfying.
